I am very happy with the intelligent people he has chosen. Perhaps those of you who don't see "change" (even though he hasn't taken office yet) is that he is picking people that are more than competent to do their jobs... not just cronyism. Another change is that he is asking for our ideas and visions. Just go to Change.gov and become part of the solutions. It's easy to be cynical, a little harder to actually contribute. And to those who have (mis)understood his economic plans based soley on what Fox and McCain/Palin said about it, you will see that by actually cutting costs on unnecessary spending (unlike the last 8 years) the money will be there to pay for the programs he proposes. And if you are still determined to find fault, at least wait until he takes office. But better yet, join in the dialogue and let's work together to solve the problems that we all face.

Lord, please bless the intellectually less fortunate souls that believe
in trickle down economics. Grant them enough intelligence to see
through the fear tactics of those that seek to use them for their own
gain. Please allow them to see that you cannot blame Clinton for the
eight years after his presidency (Future) while blaming the Democratic
Congress for our current situation (Present) and Obama for the two
months prior to his Presidency (Past). Please allow them to see that
organized religion is evil and has no role to play in government. Allow
them to see how many lives have been lost due to wars in the name of
religion. Please show them that people with different colors on their
skin are every bit as good if not better than themselves. Grant them
the humility to realize that they have no right to project their own
flawed morals upon others that seek to share their lives together in
peace and tolerance. Show them that you cannot drill for more oil and
protect our planet at the same time. Lord, please raise the price of
gas continuously until we finally find something else. Please teach them how to spell so they don't look so dumb when they try to respond to this.

To Daniel: At last, someone who knows what they are talking about. You are exactly right. Change does not necessarily mean all new faces. Change also means change in platform, policy, diplomacy, vision and agenda. It is just like working for 2 different bosses withing the same company. They expect totally different things from you and at the end of the day, you carry out their agenda based on the vision that is set forth. It is as simple as that! I am glad Obama chose Geithner for the Secretary of Treasury job. Summers use to be his mentor and with Summers committing to be the top advisor, what more can you ask for. Obama is a smart man and a clever politician. He will get the job done one way or the other. I get the feeling failure is not an option for Obama!

For all of you who are saying Bush should resign now, that just makes Cheney President. If both Bush and Cheney resign, the Speaker of the House (Pelosi) becomes president. If she resigns too, then it's the President Protem of the Senate, followed by the President's cabinet starting with Secretary of State. There is no constitutional mechanism for Obama to be sworn in early.

Guess what! Obama is an intelligent man who knows who to ask to find answer to the questions. No one knows it all but smart people know how to form teams of people, working together, who can figure out the answers.

All those gloom and doom people – its been less than a month – Obama is not even sworn in yet and you are moaning about things not changing! A little patience? If you aren't part of the solution, then you are part of the problem! Stop whining!

I'm not that familiar with these people, and I'm certainly not on top of the economics of this country. That being said, I have to give props to PE Obama for even TRYING to get something accomplished, unlike a certain sitting president who seems to have 'checked out' already. To all the doubters, naysayers and angry Republicans I say give the man a chance. We've done it 8 years your way, and it obviously hasn't been what you would call a rousing success. Let's see what someone else can do. It can't be any worse than W's accomplishments.

2.5 million jobs? Good luck with that especially with the taxes you and the rest of the Dems are threatening to levy against business and the major investors of this country. You can't grow jobs by robbing from the rich and giving to the poor (unless you consider being on welfare a job). Businesses and the wealthy will not absorb these costs. They will offset them by raising prices, cutting jobs, moving jobs overseas, cutting or stagnating salaries, etc.

Jim....TX No, it won't. Obama's socialist economic leanings will have the same effect in the US that they have had in other countries. Growth will slow or stop, and economic contraction will cost more than the handouts can possibly alleviate. Everyone who has ever taken economics 101 in school can predict the results of the Keynsian policies Obama will insitute. BTW, i agree that Bush didn't understand economics either. the $700 billion bailout is something a wiser president wouldn't have supoorted or pushed. But switching from Bush to Obama is like the Weimar Republic being replaced by the Third reich (economically, Obama's no killer) But don't believe me, just watch the results and you'll see what I mean in about 3 years.

Another example of Obama surrounding himself with knowledgeable people. "Change" does not mean hiring exclusively new faces. If he did that, conservatives would be screaming for more "experience" in the Cabinet. And remember, he hasn't even taken office yet! How about giving it a year or two before determining whether or not his change platform is successful. And if a movement away from Bush's policies isn't "change", then I don't know what is. For Jim in TX worried about all of the spending... well, no longer dropping $120 billion/year into Iraq might free up some cash, won't it?
