Obama cabinet vetting historically fast

Obama appears to be picking his cabinet at a record pace.
Obama appears to be picking his cabinet at a record pace.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama is already making presidential history by naming - or at least his transition team is leaking to the press - his Cabinet picks faster than nearly all of his predecessors.

"If we do not act swiftly and boldly, most experts believe that we could lose millions of jobs next year," Obama said Monday.

With an economic crisis spiraling out of control and a lame duck in the oval office, presidential scholars say the next commander in chief simply had no choice.

Watch: Obama cabinet vetting process underway

"This is really unprecedented. But it's an unprecedented situation," said Larry Sabato, a presidential scholar at the University of Virginia. "Obama is doing what the public and the markets demand be done - and that is to show that the next president is really in charge before he even takes the oath of office."

Why do "pinheads" post their disapproval of our new Pres. Elect here on a CNN blog? What's wrong with Faux News site? Aren't there enough fellow racist haters on that blog site? I really see why they say "education is a terrible thing to waste." Its amazing these people have the brains to plug in a computer...let alone post a comment.

    Alabama boy-

Tell me something, boy. How is Obama working on the economic crisis? He's selecting his cabinet for the January move into the office of President. Bush is pardoning turkies. Yes he is, and Barack will be doing the same thing this time next year. It's something all Presidents do. Unless you Hope Barack will Change things and pardon a watermelon next year?

I do love all the haters asking where the change is. Didn't McCain himself use the change theme toward the end? I bet if he won, all you naysayers would be defending his "change" no matter if he picked all of his staff from the current administration.

My GOD... you are a racist bigot who can't get over the fact that Obama won! And you say that Michelle is no lady, well she has bigger balls THAN YOU!!! But that's OK, just go back to burning your crosses and breeding with you sister/mother. America will be just fine without the likes of YOU!

Oh, and you say that they are just another black family moving into government housing, I wonder if you would have said the same if McCain won...IDIOT!!!

The "that's not change argument" from the "right" (i almost threw up in my mouth) is HILARIOUS! This is what the GOP is reduced to? This is the mighty party of Reagan?

This is your best critique of the Pres-elect? The world is counting down until they are rid of your party and you geniuses are quibbling about who is throwing you a rope out of the quicksand you and W put this country in?

This is why the GOP mascot should be a wooly mammoth instead of an elephan

From what I remember Clinton was not so bad, so his advisors are not a bad a choice.

From what I understand advisors are just there to advise, the president makes the policy decisions. So bringing in a bunch on newbies to advise is not a great idea but I am sure P. Obama will make the right decisions. I certainly don't blame the Bush advisors for the mess this country is in, I blame Bush.

Big d its people like you who have gotten this country into the current state that we are currently livingin. Such haters. How can you call yourself an american when you can hate a person just because of the color of their skin. Please go some where and get yourself together. you are probably the very one who is in need of help, but because of the hardness of your heart, you cant see past the real issue at hand. I saw on the news where people are picking up vegetables from the fields just to have food on their tables and guess what, they wont all black either. There is a great problem going on in our own back yard and folk still find time to hate for no reason at all (GOD HELP US ALL)

Who's drinking Kool-Aid now? Anonymous in Big-D for sure! How dare you say that Michelle Obama is no lady. You are a racist bigot that needs to move to Alaska where your "queen" could continue to lead you into mindless darkness. Good grief, people! You'd complain if he nominated Donald Trump Treasury Secretary! Don't you have something to be thankful for this week? Here's something...you have the RIGHT to express your opinion w/o being hunted down and killed. You have the RIGHT to vote for the candidate of your choice. And if you don't like it, you have the RIGHT to make valid, intelligent suggestions for ways to make improvements. Otherwise, sit back and shut up while the rest of us go to work to make America great again.

This woman is no saint and I'm sick of the racial bias this family has been, and I presume will continue to be, given! There are many, many of us out here that take offense at this attention of these people. They are just another black family moving into government housing.

Interesting that when ALL the other white family moved into the Whitehouse that you did NOT concider it GOVERNMENT HOUSING.

    Racist!

I don't care who Obama choice in his cabinet as long as they are able to bring the country back to where the world and American people expect us to be. Change comes in different form. When he said change we do not expect him to pick someone that is not experience to be in the cabinet because of change. Come on people lets us our brains here. Obama at least is keeping to his promises for now. Either we support him or we see ourself going down the drain than we are today. Lets stop the criticisim and focus on trust and believe that he will get us through all these mess, be positive instead of negative.

Wow! You cannot accept that this country has chosen them to lead for the next 4 years. Your ignorance and racism does not cease to amaze me. There are many people (of all ethnicities and races) who live in government housing, especially since the foreclosure rates have gone up and the unemployment rates have soared. Just because Lamebaugh and Hannity don't show you clips of it, there are millions of black families (and other races) who do not live in government housing. There are also millions of non-black families who do. But I guess you only believe it's black families! You don't get out much do you? I'm sure you won't be having turkey this thanksgiving; that would leave you without a bed mate!

So far he's doing just as he said he would–take swift, methodical steps–with full transparency, collaboration, and engagement of the public.

What a 180 degree shift from what the citizens are accustomed to!!!

I love the idiotic comments about Obama "doing more before taking office than Bush did in 8 years." This is obviously the media controlled, Obama zombies that we've all grown to love.

He's just been picking his cabinet, folks. He hasn't done anything as President. Every President before him did the exact same thing, even good ole Dubya.
But, when The Messian says "OK, I'm gonna pick another old Washington, former Clinton aide, white politician. His name is....", the Obominations perk up their ears to hear His latest revelation and another Great Work. When our economy finally bottoms out and more of us are homeless and unemployed, Obama will say "OK, I'm gonna apologize again for not fixing the problem." and you folks will stand, mouth hanging open, listening to hear The Word of The Dream.
Shake it off people. Clear your head.

We elected the perfect President! He is showing the American people and the world his is decisive, thoughtful and ready to lead us.
Bush can't get out of there fast enough for me.
It is disgusting to hear all the hate mongers, O"Riley, Hannity and Limbaugh already calling this the Obama recession. Obama had nothing to do with the condition this country is in thank you very much George Bush!
I would love to see these foul idiots thrown off the air. We need to keep the pressure on the sponsors of these shows to stop funding them. The American people need to fix this themselves. We don't need laws that are unfair. We, the people have the power.
I am writing and emailing any sponsor for TV or Radio and refusing to buy their products or use their services as long as they support this wackos.
    Please join me
