Obama cabinet vetting historically fast

Obama appears to be picking his cabinet at a record pace.

Obama appears to be picking his cabinet at a record pace.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama is already making presidential history by naming - or at least his transition team is leaking to the press - his Cabinet picks faster than nearly all of his predecessors.

"If we do not act swiftly and boldly, most experts believe that we could lose millions of jobs next year," Obama said Monday.

With an economic crisis spiraling out of control and a lame duck in the oval office, presidential scholars say the next commander in chief simply had no choice.

Watch: Obama cabinet vetting process underway

"This is really unprecedented. But it's an unprecedented situation," said Larry Sabato, a presidential scholar at the University of Virginia. "Obama is doing what the public and the markets demand be done - and that is to show that the next president is really in charge before he even takes the oath of office."

I, for one, have no problem with Obama wanting to include multiple members of the last successful Administration this country has seen. HOW DARE HE!

Seriously, get a grip. I bet most of you neo-cons didn't expect him to keep Gates on, eh? The man has talked about gathering a coalition of people who both agree and disagree with him, and he's walking the walk. That's a lot more than you can say for most recent Presidents.

Whether you like him or not, you have to see that this is a man who isn't going to sit by and mess around. He's going to act, and with his brain, not his heart.

I see the sore losers are back on the blogs today. Complaining Obama isn't really about change. A lot of the same names who were here everyday through the election attacking Obama.

You people are so bitter and cynical you are willing to see your country fail if it gives you the chance to see Obama fail. What poor excuses for Americans you are. Real Americans will pull together in this time of crisis and get behind the president because he is the only chance for all of us.

As for the change issue...when you want change in a company you don't fire all the employees, you get a new CEO. The president-elect is already changing how things are done in government and he hasn't even taken office yet. He will bring more change than any president in recent history.

    To 'anonymous big D'
I know it's hard to see the world through the rose colored window of your trailer home but if the government buys up the bad mortgages (like John McCain wanted) then most all Americans would be living in government housing. I know it's not your fault because you are a product of your very poor and unenlightened school system and close minded parents that never graduated from those schools and never left the city limits, then we can't possible expect you to have any other view. I hope your children crawl out from that muck and mire that surrounds you and gets a new set of windows with a better view.

    TO....No Hillary = No Obama
What an idiot you are.. not only that, I think you're a liar.
Obama said he got ONLY 53% and he went on to say that McCain got 47%, and that he will go to the white house with humility.

Your attempt and distorting the facts is truly despicable..You MUST be a republican. If not, you are truly acting like one.

To all of you guys who are already judging Obama before he's even served:

Look, you're entitled to have your own opinions or whatever, but I can't believe you are already bashing Obama's picks when he's been putting tons of really talented and experienced people in his cabinet. His economic team (thus far) is awesome and will give him well-rounded opinions on how to help solve the economic situation in this country.

And uh, for those of you who think he's picking these people 'too fast'...did you ever stop to think that maybe Obama had these people in mind all along? I don't think he woke up the day after election and was like "OH YEAH, I WILL START PICKING MY CABINET TODAY...HMMM, LET'S SEE, WHO DO WE CHOOSE?" I mean, I know it takes McCain about three hours just to get out of bed, and we all know Bush is the master procrastinator, but Obama has his butt in gear and is taking this very seriously.

And maybe we shouldn't be buying things we can't pay for like those huge SUVS and those cookie-cutter houses out in the 'burbs. I guess that's why we have Wal-Mart, the greatest American institution! :-/

I suppose the folks posting today complaining about President elect Obama's selection of experienced people, who just happened to serve in the government during the Clinton or Carter years, would rather have the Bush/Chaney/Rove White House staff instead? I believe that the mess we're in right now can be attributed, at least in part, to that group of criminals.

And just by the by, a 53% majority in the last election is significant when you look at it in the context of President Bush's loss of the popular vote in 2000 and his narrow win in 2004. I believe he felt, and stated regularly, that he had a mandate from the people to make the changes that are now reflected in the Iraq war, staggering financial problems, and a complete disregard for the environment.

.... yet there are still people complaining that Obama isn't working fast enough and complaining that they're impatient to see who he picks.

Obama's is going to hit the ground running.. and probably be the most prepared President in recent history. Ready on day 1 🙂

You can tell by some of these posts that the authors have no interest in an honest political discussion. They are here to agitate, express rage, and foment hatred.

What a shame that klan members aren't educated enough to have jobs thus giving them the time to make endless posts on these blogs.

Remember, he was the unlikiest candidate for the office, right? Who won? He did! You people still haven't understood who's at the helm of this candidacy? Well, if you don't know the power behind the man, then you guys are looking through the wrong lenses. He will continue to blow your minds, watch and all you guys will do is criticize because he is up front!

I am happy that we have a President in this country (President Obama I mean) who is in charge and working on the economy. While that other turkey Bush is clowning at the G20 and being the lamest of the lame ducks.

  23. Stop the nonsense

    "No Hillary = No Obama,"
Feed their ego? Look who's talking. Hillary is part of PE Obama's impressive Cabinet, and you still use Limbaugh's apparent facade.

Many Americans think PE Obama is humble while doing his job with a good sense of humility and intelligence.

Ok great. He's picking his cabinet of experienced old Washington insiders to cover for his own lack of experience and bring about "change"

Exactly how is a cabinet made up of Clinton, Carter and Bush veterans going to change anything at all?

Wow it is amazing how many people on this blog are just looking for something to complain about. Obama hasn't even taken office yet, and way to many people are excited about saying he has failed. It really shows the low IQ of many on this blog. News flash if he fails this whole country will go down the tubes even the idiots that love pointing out his flaws. And please drop the line about just another black family in government housing. It really makes you look rather stupid.
