When people say "values" these days, they tend to mean religious fixations that allow them to excuse any form of egregious behavior. This is sad, because it can turn a good man like President Bush into a tyrant. We should learn from this, and refuse to elect into office any man or woman who shows such tendencies.

It's too bad the American people couldn't see his "values" prior to the first go around, but oops! Most of America missed seeing his "values" the first time and gave him a second chance.

Fool me once, shame on you.

If you are sincerely leaving with the same set of values as you came in, then I seriously DOUBT if you had ANY to begin with!

Tou out a CIA Officer, have your Staff Lie about it, Lie to your Press Secy, Deceive your Secretary of State. Participate in the crimes where Dick Cheney sets up the energy policy with no Congressional oversight & we end up with OIl Traders speculating on the ICE in LOndon without any Federal Regulations & 147 a barrel Oil. Speak VOLUMES about just what your legacy should be. A person who looked the other way for Corporate America & bankrupted the American People. Allowed millionaires & billionaires to run amuck in the Mortage Industry and didn't do one thing to stop it as long as Bush perceived that the "economy is fine".

Right around the End of September you found out that the economy wasn't "fine". But you had been muttering the same 'song & dance' for the past 6 years so what do you know???
Someone from Harvard should Retract your MBA DEGREE.. The projections you & Cheney projected for the IRAQ war didn't work out.. you said it would cost 80-`00 B max.. Here we are at 600Billion and counting..
Now we are at the 700 Billion dollar bailout what will that cost? If history is any guide.. 4.2 Trillion at least..

Goodbye G.W. Bush.. get lost in Texas forever.

Nope, he didn't sell his soul in order to accommodate the political process; he sold his soul to accomodate his and his friends own personal monetary gains and in doing so, made most of the world despise our country as well as put it in the worst straits possible.

One word, accountability... there is/was none. Acting above the law and avoiding accountability, responsibilities that all of us Americans face, is not leadership. Values? Values that ideally were only in your own mind, worth something, to the rest of the world you challenged all of us morally and ethically. I hope the truth will be told and honestly recorded George. Now go away.

The foreign policy was terrible; he had good intentions but his inexperience in that area forced him to rely on advisers who did not share his values.

On domestic policy and in the way he did the job of being President, there is much to like and much that future presidents would do well to emulate.

His harshest critics have failed to clearly articulate why he should be considered incompetent or to present evidence of malice or deceit.

Bush is a good man and an effective leader, and he had generally good domestic policies. But there was a serious conceptual gap between his understanding of international problems and his prescriptions for them on the one hand, and the true nature of those problems and the best approaches to them on the other.

And by the way, this conceptual gap is not limited to Bush; it has been a problem for America generally in the post-Cold War era.

So to separate ourselves from a president with poor values we get one with no values. I just read his Thanksgiving address. All words, and political catch phrases.

It was a campaign speech - OMG, he has nothing more than this.

Who are we to judge if he sold his soul, that will come from God.
From my view though, God is a spirit of peace and this world seems to be lacking that despite desiring it. God doesn't give a leader a position of authority to abuse it but to make this world better.

How nice to know that he feels ok with sending our troops to die in Iraq when the attackers where in afg/Pakistan. Nice to know he feels no regret for the 30,000 plus soldiers who sufferer in hospitals to this day. How nice to know he doesn't regret ending the Iraq occupation before he leaves office, how nice for him.

It will take awhile to wash off all the blood on his hands. Bush's intentions are irrelevant when paired up with what has been carried out against humanity in order to achieve them. His "legacy" will be one of a man who's naivety and poor judgement allowed others to effectively run their own agenda. One that was representative of a narrow sliver of special interests and certainly not in the interests of the american people. This is what happens when we elect a president who as a man has fallen short at every venture and prospect he has come across. A man who did not earn his position by selflessness, and hard work, but by riding the coattails of his father, and the repbulican election machine.

President Bush was dealt a tough hand on 9-11 and did the best anyone could have done. The rabid attacks from the Left began the day after the 2000 election was decided. The ferocity of his opponents never changed and he had little choice but to insulate himself from the hate-mongers. Just reading the responses already made tells the tale. Chastize, Denigrate, and Demonize is what his detractors do best. Pointless stuff.

Fight against AIDS. what?

His stance on spreading condom use says it all. He's an idealist. And just look where his ideals got you America.

There's something to be said about sticking to your values.

There's also something to be said about evolving with the times.

How scary is it that this President could do so much harm to this country in 8 years.

How scary is it that "we" the people (not me the person) voted him in the second time.'

It's clear that for Bush winning the White House was for extrinsic motivational factors only. I remain dubious that he had any clear positive vision for the country other then helping line the wallets of the wealthy on the blood of others, and I don't see him as being engaged in the political process once he hands the reigns over to Obama on January 20th, 2009.

For Bush, 'winning' the White House is his trophy, he will certainly not leave the world, or US more empowered then he took office. In fact, he has left the majority of the populous disenfranchised, but fortunately not completely lacking in self-efficacy, after all voter turn out was in record numbers this year and the consensus is indeed for change.

American history is revisionist history, so I expect that Bush will go down in the books as being an unwavering, determined commander-in-chief who stuck to his guns. Sad, but in all reality probably true.

Time will only tell.

What do you expect from a man who doesn't read? He doesn't know how to use a dictionary, so he wouldn't know how to find the definition of "values". The weak minded are easily led, and that's exactly what happened in this administration. Cheney and Rove ran the country from their holes, so i suppose Bush can justify the mess we're in as not one of his making. You can't sacrifice what you don't have!!!!!

He has brought us even closer to becoming a 3rd world country. I pray that one day he will realize what he has don't to our great country and to the American people.

Guess his old-fashioned values include killing over 100,000 Iraqi citizens who didn't want to be "liberated" in the first place and ordering the torturing of prisoners. He also shouldn't be bragging about helping Africa in anyway when they have a major genocide occuring and the worst violation of human rights as we speak. His presidency should be known for him being impeached and imprisoned and held accountable for his war crimes.

And by the way, Bush's real legacy will be that he was a political canary-in-a-coal-mine. He unwittingly provided a dire warning for today's America: there are enough mentally dysfunctional voters in America to have voted this serial failure into the highest office of our land. This is, and will remain, an incredible blot on the American people and our ability to govern ourselves.

Americans need to be vigilant: certainly vigilant against outside threats, but also vigilant towards our own home-grown threats that fester in the rightwing underbelly of America.

This is, and will remain, an incredible blot on the American people and our ability to govern ourselves.

Americans need to be vigilant: certainly vigilant against outside threats, but also vigilant towards our own home-grown threats that fester in the rightwing underbelly of America.

That's funny. Bush never had a soul, so he had nothing to lose.

But what about all the innocent souls of our dead troops and innocent Iraqis that he and his administration was responsible for. what about the tortured souls?

I wonder if he feels any quilt at all for them. Probably not, he was just a spoonfed puppet for Cheney and Rumsfeld. Pitiful!
