I wish Obama well, we all need him to do well. I am a Democrat that voted for McCain.
Regarding Bush's legacy: I want to point out, if you look at the history of the region, nobody was ever able to control Afghanistan's future. So, if you send forces over there, you may as well deal with the Iraq conflict at the same time, given that we were already in a conflict that Saddam began by invading Kuwait. Also, Jordan and Egypt, the main regional diplomatic agents that are friendly to the west, are losing influence, while Iran, who is unfriendly, is gaining influence. So from a strategic perspective, it actually did make sense to deal with Iraq and create a liberal democracy that is friendly to the west, if your goal is to stop terrorism by spreading democracy. It's better to get it over with, as we did, than to try and police Saddam Hussein for the indefinite future. Obama said he would end the war and that the surge would make things worse, but a deal has already been made to leave Iraq in 2012, and that was done by Bush, after WINNING the war.
Like I said, I wish Obama well, but it bothers me that many liberal thinkers are so ashamed of being American, and feel so angry that Saddam is gone and that Iraqis are free. And for those sticklers out there who still don't know what victory in Iraq is, let me tell you: It is a stable democracy in a region of interest that is friendly to the US, and that is exactly what we have. So, when this is put into the history books, please remember that it was Bush that liberated millions and Obama who said that it was a mistake.

I have to say, all the liberals and democrats are right on this one… we should say screw India, let them take care of their own problems.

India is sure capable of taking care of problems .... But the US may not like it ... US ally Pakistan is involved in this mess! It is in the best interest of the humanity that we get involved with India to flush out all terrorist operations, including Al-qaeda, from Pakistan ...

phw....

See.... there in lies the problem Bush kept nothing safe, and his leadership lead to economic collapse.

How is that keeping us safe, and great leadership?

And if i have to be reminded how "great Bush is" every time terrorist attack innocent people; something is shady.

Every time terrorist attack people, it reminds me of how horrible of a leader bush is,and how he valued the Saudi's & the oil industry, the bankers, and the global elite over America and it's values, and how Bush is friends with the BIn Laden family....and where is Bin laden anyway? Does Bush even care to catch him?

This attack underscores the fact that Pakistan is out of control. The Government in Pakistan has not been able to do a thing about the terrorist havens, and training centers, in its country, and the world needs to call them on it. If not, this probably won't be the last time that something evil comes out of that country, and manifests itself elsewhere.

Pakistan is not an ally. They harbor terrorists and allow them to run their country. Their government is cowardly and until they stand up to religious fundamentalism and join the modern world these attacks will continue to happen. No amount of "pledges" from the U.S. mean anything. Pakistan is the weak link in the war on terror.

Bush and Cheney would throw darts to decide what country to bomb next in retaliation for the attacks in India. Just like Iraq, it would not matter whether they had anything to do with it or not. If there was profit in it for them, then war there would be!

Thank God we now have an INTELLIGENT President who believes in looking for peaceful solutions and war and the sacrifice of life as a last resort.

This attack in India was handled with excellence by the Indian government. Even Pakistan is offering help to investigate the source of the attacks. It is important to do investigative work to see where these attackers came from and what the point of their attack was about. They first asked for Americans and British but in the end it was the Indian people who lost the most citizens by far.

Regardless of who was responsible, it is important to prosecute those captured and to not let this escalate to broad violence and revenge. Many of these terrorist groups are losing members and are falling apart. The nations of the world are working together to destroy the infrastructure of these violent groups. This was an attempt by them to gain attention and pretend they are still to be feared. Yes, they did kill many innocent people but almost all of the gunmen were caught or killed. The less attention we give them and the quicker India goes back to its normal daily routine - the less media attention these groups receive and the sooner the same daily life routines return the more irrelevant it makes these hate groups appear. It lessens their power and it hurts their recruiting efforts.

Let the Intelligence organizations go after these groups behind the scenes and announce arrests when they catch them. Otherwise, these groups should be ignored. They want attention and they want to disrupt and change lifestyles so people live in fear. If we refuse to let this happen - the less impact these groups have and the less power they have to recruit, to grow, and to achieve their goals. It weakens them and they fall apart.

India and the world should publically denounce the violence, mourn the innocent victims, and then life there should go on. Let their intelligence agencies hunt these people in silence and announce when they have destroyed them.

Not giving them the media attention they want and not letting their actions change life as we know it is the greatest weapon we have in the destruction of these groups.

May God be with the families who lost loved ones in this senseless attack but let us not respond with grand scale violence or revenge. We win by not giving the attackers the response they want.

The world wins when war mongers like Bush and Cheney are taken out of power.

Terrorism is precisely that: terrorism. It is a cancer that feeds off of terror. Get it? So, each time the media, INCLUDING CNN focus in on the pain and fear of the victims, terrorism wins. Here is an appeal to the media: by all means, report terrorist atrocities. But for heaven's sake, please stop reporting on the fear and pain of the victims. Each time you do so, you strengthen the cancer. Over the years, countries that have had to live with the reality of terrorism have refrained from reporting the pain and fear. Can't we in America wake up?

so you are part of the 23% that think he is a good president... I see. you must be either rich or have no clue of what has been going on in this country for the last 8 years.

you put republican before country, you place devastating economy and expensive pointless war before country!

To Bob J,

That was a very good post. Compared to the usual hate filled vitriol spewed on these pages it was refreshing. I am a McCain supporter but I wish Obama the best because it's our country that he will be leading.

President Bush, you are a great President and I would not expect
any less of you. A true gentleman you are.
I will be so sad when you leave the white house. I don't know what will happen to this country when you leave.
May God bless you and your family.

While I can hardly wait until January 21 when the current administration is out of office, it is good to know that they are keeping PE Obama's transition team informed. Nothing, not even what Bush has done in the past, would be worse than just dumping this and other problems on the new president without any preparation.

Violence begets violence. The last thing the US should do is get involved in this, other than diplomatically. This is between India and the (possibly Pakistani) terrorists. Please, Mr. Bush, don't get us involved in another war!

okay, we had about 10 murders here in atlanta, ga over the past 2 weeks, and I'm guessing at least 200 people were killed in the entire US this month. Can we please Mr. Bush attempt to take care of home. Try to end poverty and crime in the USA.

If they suddenly found oil in India, Bush would have a crack brigade of marines on the way, with Cheney making all the necessary and important business "arrangements" along with James Baker III and the rest of the Carlyle Group.

In about 2 months Bush can sit back at the stock-dump, paid-for Crawford Ranch and watch an expert handle things, and without having to fire a shot or threaten anybody, either!!!

How exactly is he expecting to stop terror? He's not been able to do it in the past 8 years. He actually contributed to the increase of terror. It's incredibly suspicious to me that the FBI is going to India to "lend a hand". This whole mess seems a domestic problem which has to do with India and it's long standing issues between Hindus vs. Muslims. Bush wants to throw Pakistan into the mix and then also mention the usual suspects. We need to concentrate on the issues in our own country. India is a rich country and I'm sure their intelligence can handle this issue on their own. The US needs to stop being the police of the world. We are already viewed negatively enough. I am saddened for all the innocent lives lost and terror has to be stopped, but the US does not need to be the leader. Why is the UN not involved? Where is Europe?

I just read "Audacity of Hope"! Every American should read this and understand what Obama wants to accomplish. Fist time in my adult life (and I'm 64 and register republican) I am soooo proud of our President elect and I have HOPE for our future. Bush, just keep Obama informed on everything!!! For some reason God sent us Obama and great time of stress in this world and I do believe he can accomplish a lot--only if America stands behind him and forget what color he is!!! I'm white and sick to death of a lot of the "skinheads" writing on these blogs. Disgusting Americans! I'd like to see them get the degrees and intellegence that Obama has!!!

To Give Peace a Chance Please, you are proposing a boycott of innocent civilians. Remember, radical Muslims make up a fraction of a percent of the world Muslim population. By boycotting all Muslims, you will do nothing but incite terrorism and turn the Muslims against terrorism, the vast majority of Muslims, against us. Also, there are plenty of radicals from all religions.

India has No City Governments
India has No City Police Force

United States has Effective City Governments.
The City Governments take care of most of the immediate
needs of the people. The City Governments has Police Force.
The City Governments has Fire Safety Force and Utility too.

No such things are available in India.

You were shocked watching that Mumbai Terror attacks.

With the kind of Ineffective City and State Governments India has,
you will not be surprised with these kind of attacks

There is no Effective City Governments in India.

For instance, this Mumbai City Governments has No Police Force.

Only the State has got the Police Force.

To make you understand, let me take California for discussion:

There is no San Francisco Police Department.

Throughout California, you have California State Police.

California State Police has Head Office in Sacramento.

The head of the California State Police is known as
Director General of Police, in short, DGP.

DGP is responsible for the safety of the entire California.

DGP appoints City Police Commissioner for each City.

DGP is responsible for recruiting the police force
for the entire state.

Is it practically possible to manage effectively,
if the Chief sits in Sacramento and try to manage
the police force in San Diego city.

The same thing for the Fire Safety too.

It is time, India understands this major defect
in its Government Structure.

It is time, City Governments in India has
effective police force and fire safety.

It is time, India establishes Autonomous, Accountable,
Performing, Effective City Governments.

Till then, India is not safe.

The fact is: Effective City Governments make the nation as
a Developed Nation.

. . . and now all those who advised you and used you (like Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove) are distancing themselves from you. Truly a Greek tragedy. Sad, sad, oh how so sad. . . .

It is amazing the dichotomy between the democratic rethoric and the deception in the actions an implementation of that concept.

Capturing people around the globe, torturing and keeping them without representation in Guantanamo and in secret gulag type of prisons in the coalition of the willing countries bode very well for world peace according to the Bush administration.

It is a slippery slope between known sponsored states of terror and those that use subtlety as a way to mask their collegial actions from the general public.

"Killing hundreds of thousands and inflaming terrorism"

Al, you make me sick. Terrorists are terrorists, they don't need excuses. You are the type of disgusting person who blames the US for all acts of terrorism instead of the true terrorists themselves. I bet you also blame the failures in your life on the government as well.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

One thing that came out clear was that the terrorists had support from Pakistan. There is a void of leadership in Pakistan, and the terrorist groups are running amok, including al-qaeda. The best thing for the whole humanity is to take action NOW by going into Pakistan and flush out all terrorist groups. If the US doesn't go along, India should not hesitate to do so and exercise its own 'Bush Doctrine" …

"Give Peace a Chance Please" - your suggestions are ridiculous and smack of bigotry, to tell the truth. Tell me, when there are attacks perpetrated by a Christian (for example the Olympic Park Bomber Eric Rudolph), did you then call for a boycott of all Christian businesses? It is precisely because too many people throw all Muslims - regardless of whether they are moderate, "normal" Muslims, or Islamofacsist terrorists - into one pot and show and act out of bias and prejudice against the any member of the religion, that the terrorists keep finding a fertile recruiting ground to further their destructive goals.
