Obama adviser who called Clinton a 'monster' back

Power resigned from Obama's campaign earlier this year.

Power resigned from Obama's campaign earlier this year.

(CNN) - Samantha Power, the Obama foreign policy adviser who stepped down from her post earlier this year after labeling Sen. Hillary Clinton a "monster," is now working for the president-elect's transition team.

According to the Associated Press, Power is part of a team of foreign policy experts tapped by President-elect Obama to help ease the transition at the State Department - the agency Clinton is expected to head up.

Power is also formally listed as part of the State Department agency review team on the president-elect's official Web site and could directly work with Clinton should she be nominated, as expected, for the Secretary of State job.

Power stepped down from the Obama campaign in March after she called Clinton - then Obama's rival for the Democratic nomination - a "monster" and someone who "is stooping to anything." The comments came in an interview with a Scottish newspaper.

"You just look at her and think, 'Ergh,' " Power also told The Scotsman then. "The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive."

Power quickly issued an apology for the comments, but resigned her post days later.

"I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton," Power said in her resignation statement.

The Obama transition team did not comment on Power's new role.

Power is currently a professor at Harvard University and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 2003 for her book, A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide. In 2004, Time Magazine labeled her one of America's top 100 scientists and thinkers.

Hmm no "some change" or "Clinton third term remark by the Gone Out Party (GOP) membersor the democrat step children PUMA haha...but the last part says it best Powers is a Harvard University Professor and Considered ONE OF AMERICA'S TOP SCIENTISTS and THINKERS...My god how wonderful it is to look forward to having a Qualified President and QUALIFIED Cabinet members all working together.

Get used to it GOP, these are People Who Know what they are doing and they are back in control...but you'll find Something to gripe about...will it be the economy that has been fixed by obama? The great healthcare we all have? Or the fact that new and innovative Jobs are making America a world leader in time to come? Or perhaps that Internationally we will be seen by 99.999% of the world as the model of Democracy we should ALWAYS be?

HAHA, leave it to Republicans to Complain about having the job done right? But then again who can blame them they wouldn't not a qualified person doing a job if it came up and bit them in their A$$!

Stepping down was obviously the right thing for Power to do at the time; but on the other hand, does anyone remember the name of the Fox anchorwoman who labeled Barack and Michelle Obama's playful little on-stage gesture as, and I quote, a "terrorist fist-bump"? I do not recall any outrage, nor do I recall anyone resigning over that statement.. And to refer to a candidate for the highest office in this nation as a "terroris"t on national television is absolutely reprehensible.. Welcome back, Ms. Power.

"Time Magazine labeled her one of America's top 100 scientists and thinkers".
What was she thinking when she made the "monster' statement. Must have not been top thinking that day. Harvard Grad and Professor?
    Intelligence ignorance, I would say.

I am truly sorry I voted for Obama. If I were Hillary I would put her
through a wall. Shame on Obama to even think of putting this nut
on his team. Alot of people I have been talking to are regretting
their vote for Obama. The only intelligent thing he did was
put Clinton as Secy of State.

I am disappointed that Obama is bringing back someone so tactless to be part of the transition team for State Department. The State Department requires people with diplomacy, a quality Samantha Power – whoever she is – is obviously lacking.

Obviosuly you are a disgruntled republican. First off, Obama did NOT go back on Don't ask Don't Tell (Obviously you are getting your facts from Fixed Noise AKA Fox News) As a matter of fact just about everything your comment said was not the truth.. Truthfully, Obama has said change starts with HIM not with his cabinet. HE is the president not Samatha Powers.... Perhaps you need to get over the fact that McCain and Caribou Barbie lost!!

Think she was looking in a mirror. Most people who rant and rave are jealous of the one they rant about. She must be also. And by the way if obama is as honest and pure as he says he is she has no place in his administration.

Obama kept her on the back burner all this time. Hillary is a fool if she takes the job.

  15. 36 Year Old White Woman

To 60 year old white female: I see your comments here often, and I am just wondering: Have you erected a shrine to Obama yet? Do you worship at his feet?It is obvious that you worship him. I, for one, worship no human.Every human being has imperfections, which is why they are human. You, however, are blinded by what you see in Obama. As for Samantha Power, the fact that everyone remembers and still comments on what she said is proof positive of how disgusting her comment was. My only hope is that Hillary Clinton will be her boss if Power works at state. She will then see without fail that Hillary is no monster and willing to forgive. This move is not a reflection of Obama, it is a reflection of Clinton. But, of course, people like 60 year old white female who are blinded by their image of Obama will see a reflection of the power of Obama's forgiveness. What did he have to forgive? Nothing. Hillary is the one to forgive. See the facts.

Stop crying Shannon, this man has not got into office yet and everybody wants to be a critic. Let him get in office first and see what he does. You never know, Clinton and Powers probably made peace before he put her on his transition team.

To Shannon, who calls Obama a liar after stating you think the wealthiest are "among us." Could you be any further detached from reality believing both those things in the same mind? The man's not even in office yet and he's a failure to you people. At least you gave Bush a few years to realize – if you ever did – that he's an utter failure.

In the heat of battle, oft times, things that are said, are said without
thinking, I believe this is one of them. She has apologized, if personally to Sen Clinton, all the better; so, I believe all is forgiven along with time heals all. The ironic thing is that she is working to help with the transition of the State Dept. I am sure that all the people helping with State's transition are cleared with Sen Clinton; and she will do a good job.

It shows Obama has a lack of respect for Hillary by bringing this woman back.
Hillary should stay inthe senate and watch Obama be a one term president and she will be able to say to her party.
    I told you so.

Who amongst us has not opened their mouth before their brain was in gear? Maybe more should be expected of those in the public eye, but they are also human and sometimes impulsive and irrational. I imagine she regretted the words the second they left her mouth. The heat of a campaign often portrays people at less than their best. If she has something to contribute to the Obama administration, then let sleeoing dogs lie.

You people will complain when Jesus helps with YOUR transition into Heaven.

For God's sake, THINK ! She's not in his cabinet, she's on a transition team.
