Obama adviser who called Clinton a 'monster' back

Power resigned from Obama's campaign earlier this year.

Power resigned from Obama's campaign earlier this year.

(CNN) - Samantha Power, the Obama foreign policy adviser who stepped down from her post earlier this year after labeling Sen. Hillary Clinton a "monster," is now working for the president-elect's transition team.

According to the Associated Press, Power is part of a team of foreign policy experts tapped by President-elect Obama to help ease the transition at the State Department - the agency Clinton is expected to head up.

Power is also formally listed as part of the State Department agency review team on the president-elect's official Web site and could directly work with Clinton should she be nominated, as expected, for the Secretary of State job.

Power stepped down from the Obama campaign in March after she called Clinton - then Obama's rival for the Democratic nomination - a "monster" and someone who "is stooping to anything." The comments came in an interview with a Scottish newspaper.

"You just look at her and think, 'Ergh,' " Power also told The Scotsman then. "The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive."

Power quickly issued an apology for the comments, but resigned her post days later.

"I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton," Power said in her resignation statement.

The Obama transition team did not comment on Power's new role.

Power is currently a professor at Harvard University and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 2003 for her book, A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide. In 2004, Time Magazine labeled her one of America's top 100 scientists and thinkers.

I don't know what is more troubling the fact that Obama wants HRC as SOS or that he let this woman back on his team. Both are terrible moves, so much for change.

This is ridiculous, No not that she is back but that people care so much! Are we gong to micromanage EVERYTHING this man does BEFORE he even gets into office. I am an independent could care less who is on his transition team, since they are not members of his cabinet. Further more, who care, Obama and Clinton said things they should not have during that campaign and they know it. If Obama can forgive, or at least pardon Lieberman this woman who has no real power can work for the transition team until January. Everyone on both sides need to chill out! Wait for the man to do something wrong that actually affects the country, (and he will) but could we PLEASE WAIT until then to launch unreasonable criticisms.

I think it's fitting that Hillary Clinton will be Secretary of State–and Samantha Power won't.

Shannon said: Another example of this man not meaning a word of what he says. He knew he was going to bring her back, so much for hope and change.

Do you realize how stupid you sound? It says right in the article she retired her position on her own. Quite frankly, it wasn't like she was wrong in her statement considering how Hillary was... uh scuse me.... her campaign managers... were running her campaign. Obama never said he would never bring her back.... jeez.

Thisw is fantastic .There is sense that every one has to grow beyond themselves for a inch at least if they wont to be in Obama administration. So it could be first test for MS Clinton- she can do it or she can not. It is right time to be sure since she will be asked for many compromises, as everybody else . Only problem could be that she is n ot realy ready for that part and therefore ready for creating drama on every step.Obama got over Bidens coments, Clinton's, Mc Insane's Pailin' name it , so his closest colegues should be able to do it as well.

Someone peed in Shannon's cheerios this morning. "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" Give me a break. PE Obama is surrounding himself with the BEST minds in government...unlike the last 8 years of buffoons surrounding Bush. Hey, Shannon, I'm one of those millions of "pathetic people" who voted for Obama. I'm college educated, a former business executive, and now a public school teacher. I contribute to the American society...what do you do but complain????

Monsters Clinton and Obama combined, it is the same same old Democratic party's policyt with big spending, big well-fare system, higher taxes for the those who work hard, and less traditional moral family values and less freedom for the American people. Bush did not sell his soul, but Obama did even though he claims to be a Christian, but the Muslims and pagans and liberals no better. What is in it for you, if you gain the whole world, fame and power, but lose your own soul, eternally??

Welcome back Samantha! You're absolutely brilliant and brilliance is a rare commodity these days.

Samantha was being honest in saying she admired Clinton...and she was also right when she called Clinton a monster...cuz Hillary *was* being a monster at the time. I, for one, am very happy to see Hillary as SoS with Powers by her side.

I NEVER heard one word of deception coming from Hillary's mouth during the primaries.

I have heard these charges before about both of the Clintons, but in all the years I lived and worked during Bill Clinton's two terms, I never heard anything from them that would cause anyone to call them monsters or deceitful.

I am sorry Obama decided to let this big-mouthed obnoxious woman be part of his administration.

Powers looks nuts and acts nuts.
No normal person would spew out comments like that.
She should have some dignity about herself, even if other don't.
Powers is a time bomb, God only knows what will come blabbing out of that mouth.
She should be gagged, wrapped and strapped somewhere in hiding like Dick Cheney is now.

One more sign that Obama is just another politician. Drop people when they become a liability, pick them back up when nobody's looking.

Obama likes and needs people, who will tell him truths. Prof. Powers should be selected. And, some people can act like monsters when ambition for power clouds their eyes. That's why we need term limits and some new talents for our new administration.
