Sources say President-elect Obama will nominate Sen. Clinton as his secretary of state.

(CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama will officially nominate members of his national security team at an event Monday morning, including Sen. Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, according to two officials.

The Obama transition team announced Sunday that Obama will unveil the full team at a press conference at the Chicago Hilton around 10 a.m. ET.

CNN and CNN.com will carry the event live.

The officials said Obama is also expected to finally confirm that he is keeping Defense Secretary Robert Gates in his current post, and plans to name retired Marine Gen. Jim Jones as his National Security Adviser at the White House.

Also, two sources close to the transition said Obama will nominate Susan Rice as United Nations ambassador, Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano as Homeland Security secretary and Eric Holder as Attorney General.

Seriously, what a team! I'm sure people had their own picks they would have preferred...but no one can deny this is a team of heavyweights.

Wow - what a great line-up. I'm thrilled that he's surrounding himself with the "best and the "brightest." It's just a shame we have to wait until January 20, 2009!

She should have been the president. She has more knowledge in one finger than Obama has in his whole head.

President-Elect Obama: I trust your judgment. Senator Clinton: You're a team player, so I know you'll do well. Former President Clinton: Keep a low profile and please, please, please, just this one time, let your wife have the limelight – we don't need your histrionics!

You are going to need a good one! You Elected Obama (your weakness)... The team in Mumbai as far as my estimation, came from at least six different countries. They meet in any majory City, then pan the final stages of the Attack of their choice... You catch them you putr them on trial.. No evidence you let them go; then a Brand new team takes over...

HRC is an intelligent woman and he will be a great Secretary of the State. His experience and well known family name will be a plus to carry PE Obama objectives around the world. So far, I'm very impressed with PE Obama choices.

Till the last second, I'll be hoping our PE would change his mind about Hillary monster-clinton and pick Kerry or Hagel as SoS , but sometimes, you get to keep your ennemy closer so I am 100% behind our President-elect.

  10. Hillary--Don't Run the State Dept. like you ran your campaign

Hillary--you blew a 20 point lead to Obama and ended up $ 20 million in debt. We hope you won't run the State Dept' like that. At least you'll be under Obama's thumb where he can watch your every move so you don't do the same stupid things like hiring your incompetent friends instead of real pros.

MEDIA CONTINUES TO FALSELY SLAM CLINTONS ! ! !.....

    What cowardice ! ! !..... What stupidity ! ! ! .....What blatant partisanship ! ! !.....

All they have on the Clintons is an extra-marital affair between two adults which if truth be told represents fifty per cent of ALL U.S. Marriage problems ! ! !.....

Funny... but no mention in the media is made about the criminality, corruption and suspicions of wrong doing by the Bush family for one ! ! !.....

One Bush relative was an executive in the air line insurance industry at the time of 9/11 and as soon as Bush promised to bail out the airlines he resigned
    quietly ! ! !.....

Another Bush relative became a board member of a company doing business
with the Defense Department whose sales tripled and when bought out by another company this Bush relative received one million seven hundred thousand dollars ! ! !......

One Bush brother went to jail in the savings and loan collapse the other brother,
a former Florida governeor, excaped prosecution because his partner in crime
wanted by the Justice Department fled to South America ! ! !.....

Why doesn't the media keep bringing up these really serious and provable events, crimes and suspicions like they due interminably about the Clintons...

    ...anyone ? ? ?.....

Someone who threatens to obliterate an entire peaceful nation is not the right person for this job.

Obama's first mistake and a large one at that.

Hillary Clinton will not help us solve our Middle Eastern hegemony problems. In fact she will cause more.

HILLARY IS AN INTELLIGENT, WELL EDUCATED & CAPABLE

LEADER. I AM MORE THAN PLEASED THAT SHE WILL REPRESENT

Well, it looks liek the change this country voted for is INDEED going to happen. We are changing from the Bush administration, to pretty much the same as we had back when Clinton was in office. Maybe not all the faces, but the same points of view will carry on.

Putting Hillary as SOS is perfect. There has never been a SOS run against the stnading president. So put Hillary where if history dictates anything, she will not run against Obama in 2012. Exactly what Obama wants.

So tell me, where is this change Obama preached?????

There is already talk of him backing off of the majority of his promises.

It is just great that Republicans are so pleased with Obama's selection of his cabinet. It proves beyond doubt that Democrat's favour candidate trunrs out to be so close to Republicans that you might think that McCain could have also appointed the same persons. Forget about any change in policy either.

The world is much too small for that.

I think all the right choices are being made. I only hope that Bill Clinton doesn't "screw" Hillary with his organization and its donations. It's time for Hillary to be in the lime light. It would also reflect badly on Obama-Biden if Hillary had "issues" caused by Bill.

Yep. Change you can believe in.

Smile, Dems. You got taken down the garden path again. Youth is served. You will will make us experience again, that which should have been forgotten.

Although I am a Hillary Clinton fan and her and Bill are both recognized and respected worldwide, I never understood naming a woman as SOS. As much as I hate it, there are places in the Arab world where women can be murdered by male family members for doing something as simple as talking to a guy who is not family. How effective is a woman SOS in these places, how effective was Ms. Rice, and would it not be considered an insult to send a woman there to represent us in the first place? Like I said, I hate it, but it's a sad reality in our world, even today.
