Obama's plan for Iraq is the same as Bush's and McCain's and is summed up by the phrase "listen to the generals". Obama strung along the left wing by promising (lying) to withdraw quickly from Iraq. And now that's he's been elected, his plan is no different than McCain's. The left wing has been screwed over again.

It says alot about both Barack Obama and Gen. Jim Jones that dispite their ideological differences; both these leaders of men want to do what is truely in the best interest of their nation. I believe that despite the enormous challenges facing the U.S. and the World these days; the American peple and the entire planet are in very good hands now that the 'Best and Brightest" are taking over from"Dumb &Dumber." I also believe that this is a return to the Democratic Party that once upon a time went eyeball to eyeball with the U.S.S.R. over missles in Cuba in1962; when the Russians blinked. It is as if the spirit of the New Frontier is returning. Jack and Bobby Kennedy would approve!!

Obama is doing this exactly the way I hoped, choosing the best person for the job, not the most qualified person willing to be a yes man. If you don't like his picks, take a long look at the people surrounding the current president, intelligent, experienced and spineless.

To the guy eating pintos from the can, cold, why is that relevant?

As a registered Democrat who voted for McCain, I LOVE Obama's cabinet picks. I am laughing out loud at my oh-so-smug-lefty-friends who berated me for voting McCain.

Gee, not so smug anymore, are we?

People........this is change we voted for....pragmatism....I believe Obama is a smooth operator. He his making his cabinet picks to douse the fright of people who have been worrying about what change will look like. Now that people are comfortable with him, he has enoumous political capital to enact whatever policies he might wish......and I know the health care reform is not going to resemble a right wing reform, it may be centrist but it's sure gonna lean left...in 16months or by the end of 2011, the tropps are comming home.....whatever happens to the economy, regulations will be thightened on wall street...etc..so we win.....

For those Ron Paul fanatics who supported Obama .. stop your BS .. wait till Obama get into office before criticizing him ... you jump to all kind of conclusions by the appointments he has made so far ..

And If you want another Ron Paul it's time to reform your Party (GOP) the party Ron Paul ran on ... you forgot Obama ran on the (DEM) Party ..

The Powers that be in the GOP .. shunned him ... because he wanted to change the party ... i guess .. those folks hate change ...

I'll give Obama some breather before i go holding him accountable for the promises he made ... I see him spending the 1st year focusing on turning around this failing economy .. before he goes focusing on Iraq & Domestic issues ..

The team of rivals theory i think will actually work during this important time in our nations history. Brilliant minds do wonders when a good leader isn't afraid of their opinions. The last analogy that i'll use is "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer". I've witnessed a leader who has grabbed the bull by the horn who's ready to lead us back into the prosperous times that we've enjoyed in times past let's say the 90's era. Keep up the good work President-Obama, we're behind you all the way.

Whining Americans should recognize that it was Obama's call for a 'time table' out of Iraq that has gotten us the present Status of Force Agreement which signals ultimate closure to a wild bush McCaint 'war without end'.

Only fools engage in an enterprise without plan and time line!

Imagine building Empire State Building without plan and time line; there would have been no end in sight, including no end to the cost overrun!

Bush is a fool; anything contrary to 'stay the stupid course' is success.

To all of those who post comments similar to "This is not the change I voted for":

The change will come from Obama himself. If he proves to be a good President, he will set the tone and direction of his administration. It is both wise and pragmatic on his part to surround himself with smart, experienced people to help get the job done. It should come as no surprise that many of these people worked in the last Democratic administration (i.e., under Clinton). Who else were you expecting? A cabinet full of inexperienced newcomers?

In the case of Hillary herself, I do agree that she pulled a few stunts in the primary campaign that turned me off to her and while I'm not one who is willing to write it off as just tough campaigning, I do have to acknowledge that she is still a smart, competent and committed public servant. I hope she will serve President Obama well.

General Jones didn't get to wear 4 stars on his collar and become Commandant of The Marine Corps because he was well liked. he was choosen because of his leadership skills and way of thinking for our beloved Corps. He will bring all that and more to President Obama's team. I have two wrods; "Semper Fi" Sir.

Obama is showing every step of the way that he will do a great job as president. Yes, he is balencing out his cabinet with strong personalities...but running a good gov't is like a fine orchestra. You find the most brilliant instrumentalists, but it is the conductor who decides what songs are played, and how the audience sees the performance. If you get a smart president, his party is in power, plus a brilliant cabinet...what you get is a stunning success for moving the country back towards health, and a gov't that can effect change for the common good of the entire country.

From watching her, she's a strong woman, but by popular demand, she will bow for the good of America. She did it for Bill. She did it for Obama. She'll do it for America.

I dont think J Jones will have a problem with Hillary. She's STRONG but she knows when to back down. (You can always have multiple opinions from outside groups. It will help with the decisions. Majority RULES..)

to "This is not what i voted For"

Friend, think LONG TERM... we must execute this correctly or we WILL all be going to Iraq to STAY there permanently. It's good to dream like Obama and reach and try for that dream and plan for that dream of complete withdrawal. This is the first step toward pulling out. (Better than staying there 100 years.)

Frankly I am disappointed in the way his cabinet is being staffed. I can not see how Clinton can be SOS. She ran a failed campaign, her lies now are being brushed off as just a tuff campaigner. She has no foreign affairs experience other than in her dreams of landing in Bosnia under sniper fire, lieing & exaggering thru the whole campaign, that is a serious deficiency for a SOS. The way she tried everything possible to destroy Obama & kept all the dirt alive & well to the very bitter end. Now we have a cabinet all re-treads of Clinton, and SOS is a Clinton herself, & getting high praise from Obama. This is not change I voted for. If I wanted Clintons I would have voted for one. For me, I worked very hard against the Clinton Machine & I will not be giving one cent to any prez campaign ever again. I have no confidence in our politics that the voters will win anything. even when you win, you lose. (the voters). This must be the change we can believe in - None !

All of these Cabinet selections seem enlightened, and I for one hope that they will work out for our country and for our President. But before we celebrate, let's try to remember when another President was very highly praised during his transition for his Cabinet picks. To wit, he chose a highly regarded former Secretary of Defense to have a key role in his Administration; a highly regarded former member of Congress to serve in a key post in his Administration, and a brilliant former General (stop when any of this sounds familiar) to be a key member of his Administration. That's right, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Powell were no less well thought of (arguably they were considered better even) when G.W. chose them prior to his inauguration. I'm not saying that Gates, Clinton, and Jones will fail us, I'm simply pointing out that they haven't performed yet, let's watch what they can do before anointing this team the best ever.

I'm glad General Jones is on board, but he really has to get over his Carbon fix. Wind, tide-energy, hydrogen, solar, whatever, just get off the carbon fuels so happily promoted in your Chamber of Commerce days!

President Obama gets my 2012 vote. I see that a lot of people don't want to see Obama succeed, that's why we are seeing a lot of people complain about "What Change". I see the change and the world outside of the United Stated see it. The united states is on the right path. I'll like to see some poster on here tell us there picks????

Thank God Obama is picking people our country can respect for their educational achievements as well as their proven successes. The GOP still picks from the bottom which includes such uneducated people as Palin and her crew. Palin and her crew are no more than welfare receipients supported by the state of Alaska.

A distinguished Marine Corps General advising the President? I like it........I like it a lot. This man will bring the kind of leadership into the White House that it hasn't seen in a very long time. Obama is putting together the best leadership team this country has ever known. Good things are in store for the U.S. in the coming years.........

Obama is learning fast that he know everything there is to know. There is a lot of behind the scenes stuff that is never reported and you have to do what is best based on information that only you know about.

He has made several decisions (or non decisions) now that are in line with what Bush was doing. He has already swayed away from what he campaigned on towards Bush so much that you realize that anyone elected are just puppets for the real people in charge.

Obama is an Excellent Chief Executive / Manager. This is why we picked the smart guy!

With this guy, Gen Jones and Rahm Emmauel .... stuff is going to get done ... and it will be the stuff Obama wants done, not what some BIG EGOs might have in mind .... there won't be any "going rogue" with NO DRAMA OBAMA.

No disrespect intended to Hillary or John McCain but based on how poorly their campaigns were executed, do we REALLY think either of them would be operating this crisply ... or this quickly?

Mr. President, we've got your back!

General... I for one welcome you aboard... perhaps you were on board befor I was... but it wasn't know to me... I appreciate that you will give to President Obama, after he takes the oath of office ,the very best, candid, and informed advice that you and you staff can accumulate.

You are a General of the Marine Corp. You have gained and deserved the honor of wearing four stars, you can eclipse your military career
and the honour you have gained for same by being the best National Security Advisor possible to the Next President of our United Statres.

Thank you and.. God Speed General...

The gold standard? A sound money system? Don't make me laugh.

The Federal Reserve is far from flawless, but a fiat money system is better in the grand scheme of things than the gold standard.
