Limbaugh calls Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke'

Limbaugh called Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke.'

(CNN) - Rush Limbaugh seems to have given Hillary Clinton his stamp of approval for the second time this year.

The conservative talk show host — who urged supporters during the primary season to back Clinton in an effort to prolong the bitter Democratic presidential nomination fight — told ABC’s Barbara Walters that Clinton’s selection as Secretary of State was "a brilliant stroke" by President-elect Obama.

He said the move was a political master stroke, effectively ruling out a primary challenge in four years. "You know the old phrase, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' How can she run for president in 2012?” he asks. “She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him - the one who made her Secretary of State."

Obama himself seemed to give a nod Monday to the pair’s policy disagreements during the 2008 primary season. "I assembled this team because I'm a strong believer in strong personalities and strong opinions,” he said at the event where he named Clinton as the leader of his new national security team. “I think that's how the best decisions are made.”

    Yes, I agree.

    However, consider this scenario:

in 2010, Clinton and Obama have a major foreign policy argument.

Clinton quits in disgust and says Obama doesn't know what he is doing.

In 2011, some terrorist sets off a bomb somewhere in the world, and Clinton says "I TOLD YOU SO!"

She runs for President in 2012.

DO NOT understimate the underhandedness of this woman. She was the one who spread the "Obama is a Muslim Terrorist" e-mails first.

Goes to show how superficial Rush's knowledge of politics is. Secretary of State doesn't cripple Clinton's presidential aspirations. If she were to have any aspirations in 2012, which she doubtfully ever would since it would anger voters looking for a shoo-in incumbent (which would really halt her goals), she could take credit for his foreign policy moves while lambasting his economics.

Yep, Rush always sees things through the prism of small-mindedness.
Is it so hard to believe that the pick was made because of what Senator Clinton brings to the table?
I agree it was a masterful move, but not for the reason Mr. Limbaugh stated.
For all of those who question the "change" in this administration, this is it. Picking people for the cabinet because of their abilities and knowledge instead of power politics. Thinking of the good of the country, not the next election cycle.
If the President elect does his job well, he doesn't have to worry about the next election. This isn't "Survivor", it's the survival of our nation.
    Good luck Mr. President Elect.

Oh Rush...why aren't you carrying on about Obama's birth certificate? If Obama is "unqualified" who do you think is first in line to carry on?

    Shut up you ignorant blowhard.

You have no credibility you drug addicted, non-football knowing racist.

You wouldn't know brilliant if it was tatooed on your hand.

I hope you have to go to jail for something ... anything ... it doesn't matter what.

I simply want this drag on civilized society gone.

Another "brilliant stroke" would be for the Republicans to draft Sarah Palin for president in 20012 with "Lortab Limbaugh" as her running mate!

I believe there is far more to the decision of who to ultimately select as Secretary of State. Only a cynic such as Mr. Limbaugh would distill such a weighty, pivotal selection to something as silly and petty as "How can she run for president in 2012?” ... “She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him — the one who made her Secretary of State." Mr. Limbaugh demeans the selection process, President elect Obama and Senator Clinton with this sort of shallow observation. Again, Mr. Limbaugh proves he lacks depth.

This is an odd move, although one I'm somewhat happy about. Obama came to where is he because of his extreme left-wing backers from groups like MoveOn.Org and Soros. Of course the irony is that Obama, like typical politicians, knifed and attacked Hillary. He spewed rhetoric about how she was unqualified because of her bad judgement on the Iraq war. Then what does he do? He picks her to lead National Security. Nothing is going to change. At least he realizes that he's in over his head and needs serious help from competent individuals like General Jones, Gates and even Hillary.

  25. I'm Your Pusherman ....

She is NOT the leader of his national security team although she may believe that she is.

General Jim Jones is the National Security Advisor.

Hillary Clinton is the Chief Diplomat and will be caring out the wishes of the President of the United States... PERIOD. If she or any other member of his "National Security team" goes beyond that, Obama should pimp slap them.
