Limbaugh called Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke.'

(CNN) - Rush Limbaugh seems to have given Hillary Clinton his stamp of approval for the second time this year.

The conservative talk show host — who urged supporters during the primary season to back Clinton in an effort to prolong the bitter Democratic presidential nomination fight — told ABC’s Barbara Walters that Clinton’s selection as Secretary of State was "a brilliant stroke" by President-elect Obama.

He said the move was a political master stroke, effectively ruling out a primary challenge in four years. "You know the old phrase, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' How can she run for president in 2012?” he asks. “She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him - the one who made her Secretary of State."

Obama himself seemed to give a nod Monday to the pair’s policy disagreements during the 2008 primary season. "I assembled this team because I'm a strong believer in strong personalities and strong opinions,” he said at the event where he named Clinton as the leader of his new national security team. “I think that's how the best decisions are made.”

people like Limbaugh are what have kept our nation diviided for years and yet he still draws a crowd because there are so many that just have to have someone else tell them how to think or what to do...thus the term "ditto head" meaning the same. One difference between the left and right, the left can think and make decisions for them selves, the right need to listen to overpaid radio talk show hosts to help them think and seek their approval. I hope one thing that Obama does is bring back the Fairness Doctrine and that alone will have these right wing nut jobs that help divide our nation on the run.

Rush, Hannity, et al aren't concerned about Obama being a bad president and running the country into the ground...quite the opposite...if he is a great president, it further marginalizes them. If that happens, they can go home and spend their millions...

It's amazing how the media is always prepared to cover right wing nuts who ironically says that the media has a left learning biased. I have not heard one main stream media news network report the rantings and ravings of a left winger.

Rush Limbaugh raises a good point. Hopefully Hillary Clinton will stay out of the limelight for the next four years. This may be the reason why Obama picked Clinton.

If anybody thinks Hillary is going to save the day.......think again. I don't think anybody knows what's around the corner. Wait until Israel starts acting up. I am willing to predict that Hillary will hide in a corner and cry. Just like her husband, she doesn't have a stomach for foreign policy. Where is the change that Obama has been talking about?

Why in the world would Barbara Walters be talking to Rush Limbaugh. She seems so much more elevated to be wallowing in the slime with Rush. Seems to me that there should be a law against telling millions of listeners to game the system and vote for Hillary as a ploy to create a fabricated outcome of the 2008 Democratic primaries. It seems the kind of thing that he would pickle anyone else for suggesting. I only actually heard Rush once when I was in a pick up truck with a dumb relative on a long trip. Rush was making fun of Barney Frank's speech impediment. A very nasty thing to be doing. It was lost on my dumb relative who didn't know who Barney Frank was. I have heared about other testy over the top shenanigans on his show and thank goodness I don't listen in.

Hillary will be magnificent in any role she takes. Bella from NC in one of the comments above mentioned "Bullets." Interesting choice of words.
Mr. Obama has not yet taken the oath. I think there is a much better political role for Hillary in 2009 other than the Secretary of State.

Stay tuned, "it ain't over yet"

what is wrong with you? How can Obama fix the economy before he officially becomes president of 1/20/09?

Just get use to Obama.....he will be around for 8 years as president....

At least Rush seems to understand that too...

Most of you totally missed Rush Limbaugh's logic/wisdom. Did he say she would make a great Secretary of State, or did he mostly talk about the political implications of her selection? Personally I think there are probably dozens of Washington insiders who are more qualified than Hillary to be Secretary of State. This is obviously a political payoff for her not causing a fuss at the Demo convention.
