Limbaugh called Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke.'

(CNN) - Rush Limbaugh seems to have given Hillary Clinton his stamp of approval for the second time this year.

The conservative talk show host — who urged supporters during the primary season to back Clinton in an effort to prolong the bitter Democratic presidential nomination fight — told ABC’s Barbara Walters that Clinton’s selection as Secretary of State was "a brilliant stroke" by President-elect Obama.

He said the move was a political master stroke, effectively ruling out a primary challenge in four years. "You know the old phrase, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' How can she run for president in 2012?” he asks. “She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him - the one who made her Secretary of State."

Obama himself seemed to give a nod Monday to the pair’s policy disagreements during the 2008 primary season. "I assembled this team because I'm a strong believer in strong personalities and strong opinions,” he said at the event where he named Clinton as the leader of his new national security team. “I think that's how the best decisions are made.”

Why would anyone care about what Rush Limbaugh says or thinks? The guy is neocon mouthpiece. That's all he is. Tomorrow he will be all over her criticising every move she makes. I cannot stand the guy, sorry!!

Hey Kelly, If I remember correctly I believe that there was rioting at the RNC. That's the only rioting I remember. I bet you think that it was just fine to do that though. You people are hypocrites. Let the man say what he wants, don't pay attention if you don't agree with him... I don't.

Hey, Stupid continue to show your ignorance...and now that of your wife as well. The "Messiah" as you call him (those who respect the man call him President-Elect Obama), cannot fix the economy yet. He is not in charge you moron. The Repubs over the past 8-years have ruined our economy. Now, you and your lovely wife sit and spin on those facts. Fools.

Why hasn't Bush fixed the economy yet? It should all be taken care of before Obama takes office. Why wait? I thought conservatives understood the economy! They should fix it now, why put us through all this?

just the kind of comment i'd expect from a fanatic diehard republican cynic who can't stand the fact that he and his party have been totally rejected by American voters. i'm sorry media sources still give him the opportunity to spew his negativism and hatred and that there are still a lot of misguided sycophants who live their lives based on what this clown tells them they should think, say and do.

Quite frankly, what makes Rush Limbaugh and expert on anything?
I grow weary of media outlets running to a talk-show host who anyone with any sense knows will rail at anything that smacks of any kind of liberalism.
Merely being loud and and an acknowledged mouthpiece for the right-wing, shouldn't qualify you as an expert about anything, except being a mouthpiece for the right-wing.
As a leader in news reporting, do not be as predictable as Rush Limbaugh.

one man's zero is another man's hero.

we all know its clinton and obama's fault for failed bush policies. its called blind faith and its no different than the The Fundamentals of Extremism.

limbaugh brings as much productivity to a discussion as the taliban. and sadly people listen.

I am so sick of reading about the 'strategies' of the 'opponents'.
Choosing a Cabinet isn't a game! Obama chose the most qualified person. Why is Rush, etc. so cynical??

That is true, John Clark. But, in most cases, hardly do other candidates want to run against the incumbent president of their political party.

In presidential history, only once did incumbent president was not nominated to run for a second term that was Franklin Pierce, fourteenth President of the United States from 1853 to 1857.

He actually is right on this one and the best part is that Hillary is not a lock on SoS. She has to go through confirmation hearings and I don't think she will make it with all of her and Bills baggage they bring. Secretaries of State are not allowed to lie about things like imaginary sniper fire, throw things at people or steal from the White House. Not to mention her horrible attitude towards the Secret Service while first lady.

Good luck Hillary there are a lot of people out of work and you will be one of them soon enough.

I love the "Rush who?", and the "Rush doesn't matter." people... very funny. This guy is the most popular talk show host on the radio, has been since the start.

The issue here is that not one liberal took issue with what he said, or tried to make their own case. it was all hate. One of the posts i read called Limbaugh a stinking pig... I think that's what uneducated people do. Call names, speak of what they don't understand... If you listened to his show, even if you didn't agree, you could clearly understand where he was coming from.

Debate the issues if you can, but leave the name calling to the kids. Geez....
