Limbaugh called Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke.'

(CNN) - Rush Limbaugh seems to have given Hillary Clinton his stamp of approval for the second time this year.

The conservative talk show host — who urged supporters during the primary season to back Clinton in an effort to prolong the bitter Democratic presidential nomination fight — told ABC’s Barbara Walters that Clinton’s selection as Secretary of State was "a brilliant stroke" by President-elect Obama.

He said the move was a political master stroke, effectively ruling out a primary challenge in four years. "You know the old phrase, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' How can she run for president in 2012?” he asks. “She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him - the one who made her Secretary of State."

Obama himself seemed to give a nod Monday to the pair’s policy disagreements during the 2008 primary season. "I assembled this team because I'm a strong believer in strong personalities and strong opinions,” he said at the event where he named Clinton as the leader of his new national security team. “I think that's how the best decisions are made.”

I hope to see the day when hate-mongers like Limbaugh gets absolutely no attention. The world would be a much better place then.

The out of context headline does not clearly communicate his real underlying point; it was Machiavellian of Obama to pick Clinton.

Limbaugh is such an idiot! He made it part of his career for so many years to trash the Clintons, especially Hillary......so now it's easy to imagine Limbaugh licking his chops........probably gleefully thinking he's got more years of Clinton material to dish out. He is such a negative, country-dividing, and full of hate person.....how sad.

First off, Hillary was in no way obligated to take this position. If she really wanted to take Barry down she would have done many things before now (convention floor fight, etc.). She's said that leaving the senate will be hard for her to do, and I believe that.

She's doing it because she believes it will be the best for the country. She has already proven she puts the DNC and the country above her own ambitions, even though the DNC deserves nothing from her after her treatment in the primaries.

Limbaugh is a quack, those that follow his advise are quacks and he has never been nor will he ever be a creditable source of note worthy news. Why are you even posting him on your web site. Extremist have a voice on CNN now.

I'm not sure why CNN.com gave this issue any coverage at all. Rush Limbaugh and others of his ilk are nothing more than lame-duck dinosaurs, whose filthy behavior over the past 8 years has insured that they will have absolutely no voice whatsoever in upcoming events, issues, policies, etc. We should let these neo-conservative shills die the silent death they have all so nobly earned. I can't even imagine why ANYONE in government would give these purveyors of deceit any time at all, and I hope that CNN will ignore them in the future also.

I never thought I'd live to see the day when I actually agree with the likes of Rush Limburger.

He's right, though: she'll NEVER be able to run in 2012. Not that she'd win anyway, people in this country are 'Clintoned' out, we don't wanna see that woman in 4 years.

And why are we quoting Rush Limbaugh, pray tell?

The man is repugnant! As he said on Larry King when asked about presenting lies as truth so many years ago, "I am not about Truth! I'm about entertainment!"

For shame, CNN, this is far, far beneath you to treat this buffoon as someone worth noting! I expect better of you.....
:) only kidding, CNN! NOT! Oh, my, I have been around children too long! *LOL*

And can anyone please explain to me what foreign relations or governmental experience this media clown has that would qualify ANY of his opinions as important? I'm always amazed ANYONE cares what his opinion is - it certainly never has anything to do with reality.

No, porker Limbaugh, you're not going to sleaze your way outta this. You are going to be held responsible for the hate; devisiveness and lies you have spread to benefit the wealthy Republican criminal elite who have plundered and destroyed this nation's wealth. You don't have the slightest idea what it means to be an American.

I personally hope you end up sleeping in a cardboard box in an alley, selling yourself to feed your oxycontin habit.

Say what you will, Rush is right. And as to change, what change??? Better yet, you don't hear about the "change" angle mentioned much on the networks anymore, do you? Where's Chris Matthews on this?

I think Limbaugh is a brillaint businessman. He knew their was a market for mindless right wing hate speech and that millions of idiotic listeners out there would devour everyone of his disgusting words. Limbaugh makes 30 million a year and has 20 million brainless followers.

For years Limbaugh ranted against soft sentences for drug offenders while he himself was a user.

Don't blame Limbaugh, blame his audience.

If Prez-Elect Obama was worried about a threat in 2012, he would have nominated Sarah Palin.
