Limbaugh called Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke.'
(CNN) - Rush Limbaugh seems to have given Hillary Clinton his stamp of approval for the second time this year.
The conservative talk show host — who urged supporters during the primary season to back Clinton in an effort to prolong the bitter Democratic presidential nomination fight — told ABC’s Barbara Walters that Clinton’s selection as Secretary of State was "a brilliant stroke" by President-elect Obama.
He said the move was a political master stroke, effectively ruling out a primary challenge in four years. "You know the old phrase, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' How can she run for president in 2012?” he asks. “She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him - the one who made her Secretary of State."
Obama himself seemed to give a nod Monday to the pair’s policy disagreements during the 2008 primary season. "I assembled this team because I'm a strong believer in strong personalities and strong opinions,” he said at the event where he named Clinton as the leader of his new national security team. “I think that's how the best decisions are made.”
Why even report on what this guy thinks?
Please CNN, you are one of the best out there – you have to pick and chose who to report on.... and you should stay away from reporting on drug addicts and losers... they do NOT add any value to our lives.
I really don't care what Rush thinks. His fifteen minutes is WAYYYYYYYY overdue!
Like I care about what this joker has to say about anything. He is a first rate jerk and should be off the air.
I'm not in favor of censorship but this man is dangerous to our country. It scares me that so many people listen and fully believe everything that spews from his mouth. This is the man who called for rioting and violence at the DNC.
Hidden under the guise of a "true patriot," Limbaugh is probably the least patriotic person in this country.
As if he would know from brilliant.
This only proves that even a moron can have a sensible thought from time to time.... he's still a jerk.
You are absolutely correct, Jean!
Now, before I spit up in my mouth, I must try to finish reading the other comments.... *LOL*
Limbaugh is his own worst enemy that destroys himself in drugs and alcohol, who cares what he says.
Rush – always stoking the fire. I was almost proud to hear the compliment, until I read the other comments. Can't you just give a positive comment without the jab?
Please....just disappear Rush. You're washed up.
It is a brilliant move. By including her in his team, he picks up all those "Hillary or nothing" fans who wouldn't vote for him before. He is solidifying his base in the party.
The disturbing thing is that he's putting the very woman whose foreign policy experience he previously derided in charge of US foreign policy. Obama should be picking the best person for the job, not making political maneuvers.
Hey loveable liberal- A hell of a lot more people care what rush say's than what you or the Clintons have to say!! Why?
1.-you are a cool aid drinker
2.-he is the worst president since the last democrat before him-carter
3.-she would be backstabbing obama for 4 years if he had not picked her for this position. I agree with Rush. Brilliant move!!
Dirtbaugh.
looking at the comments, it would appear 80-90 percent of CNN.com readers are from the left. what a shock...
If Limbaugh gives this nomination a nod . . . we need to mindful of what calculation is going on in his head!
Ms. Clinton will be dictating foreign policy, and Mr. O'bama will not be able to control her.
He will regret this appointment.
fact that Rush is a multi millionaire is testimony that there is a sucker born every minute. How can a useless donkey like him make money talking trash day in and day out?
"...effectively ruling out a primary challenge in four years..."
So Obama is only picking Hillary because he doesn't want the threat of a challenge in 4 years. Nothing to do with Hillary's capabilities. Or the prospect that Obama's administration will be a successful one and there won't be a challenger to the incumbent.
Paraphrasing Keith Olbermann: Comedian Rush Limbaugh today's worst person in the wooorrrrlllld.
I miss Sarah Palin
Jerk!!!!!!
Although this does not relate to this topic, I felt compelled to say something about the news of Sarah Palin campaigning for the Governor of Georgia that CNN has been flashing on its page as if our lives depended on it. The stock market plunged 680 points today, the country is going down the drain, and the news of those two irrelevant losers are the most noteworthy news of the day? Enough already of this woman. She is shoved down our throat day in a day out. She did not run for the presidency, and the ticket she was on lost. Get a grip. She needs to go back from where she came from, which is nowhere.
Why do we care what this blood sucking partisan has to say again?
'HEY OBAMA SUPPORTERS,
HOW ABOUT THAT CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE IT HILLARY AS SECRETARY OF STATE AND PREDOMINATELY ALL CLINTON PEOPLE AS STAFF!!!!!!!!!!
NOW WHO DID YOU SAY WON THIS ELECTION???????'
We won this election, WTTOS. You obviously are still pretty bitter from Nov. 4th. In any case, change comes from the policies enacted, not from the faces you see in Obama's cabinet. If all the people that Obama is picking is the reason why Bill had such a good 8 years economically, then I say keep pickin' 'em.
If you can't stand Obama so much, then by all means, reject that tax cut he'll be offering to 95% of us.
She has zero experience.... this is a brilliant pick? Oh but then if Limbaugh says it, the opposite must be true.... Seinfeld's bizarro world.
Hillary will be a disaster.....
I'm going to ask the same question I asked when Rove approved of the economic team--
Is it a bad sign when Satan things you're doing a good job?
doesn't rush make you wish there were amendments to the freedom of speach? may be we would call it the shut-the-stupid-off amendment.
