Limbaugh calls Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke'

Limbaugh called Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke.'

(CNN) - Rush Limbaugh seems to have given Hillary Clinton his stamp of approval for the second time this year.

The conservative talk show host — who urged supporters during the primary season to back Clinton in an effort to prolong the bitter Democratic presidential nomination fight — told ABC’s Barbara Walters that Clinton’s selection as Secretary of State was "a brilliant stroke" by President-elect Obama.

He said the move was a political master stroke, effectively ruling out a primary challenge in four years. "You know the old phrase, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' How can she run for president in 2012?” he asks. “She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him - the one who made her Secretary of State."

Obama himself seemed to give a nod Monday to the pair’s policy disagreements during the 2008 primary season. "I assembled this team because I'm a strong believer in strong personalities and strong opinions,” he said at the event where he named Clinton as the leader of his new national security team. “I think that's how the best decisions are made.”

Sounds like a good comment since we are about to have the Chicago bunch running the country.

Cape Girardeau Fats thinks Hillary's appointment to Sec. of State is a "brilliant stroke."

Yeah, right!!! You can count on the sincerity of THAT accolade.

Just like I think McCain's choosing The Maid of Moose Snot as his VP was a "brilliant stroke."

Seems as if the "Schadenfreude" are blooming a bit early this season.

Actually the current crop of moderate cabinet appointments are designed to bring Barack over the 2010 mid-term election hump. All of them have a limited "shelf-life" Hillary will be out of a job in 2011 and ready to challege Obama.

Limbaugh continues his divisive thinking. Obama's not choosing people for political reasons; he's doing so to get this country out of the ditch the Repubs (like Limbaugh) drove us into. Please boycott advertisers supporting Limbaugh's show and website. Who knows how we can start a boycott?

Obama's choice of Hillary is Brilliant. Hillary may not run in 2012, however, Obama may continue in the White House for a second term. That would guarantee a Democrat in the White House, while also expanding Hillary's very experienced path into office even further by being Secretary of State. I think it's a win-win step forward to all of us. To the country, to both Obama and Hillary and to the Democratic party.
In 2016, however, it's another story. Hillary may run then, marking a historic win for Democrats in the White House for 3 full terms in a roll, while uniting this country and bringing us back from the wrong path we've been led to.

I hate to laugh at the pig jokes.... *LOL* but they do come off as funny right now!

I love that old one.... "If you lie down with pigs, don't be surprised when you get up smelling like a hog!" I believe that Limbaugh does come off smelling extremely hoggish! *LOL*

Andy H – Sitting presidents do often get the nod but there is no rule that says it has to be so.

Crazy Canuck – I am pretty sure that Rush knows just a wee bit more about politics than you do.

Rush is about a nothing. This guy lives on vicodin and other drugs and he sits in judgement of everyone else. People that even listen to him or these right wingers are brain dead. Some people live too long.

There is no reason this should have been reported. Who cares what Rush the Pill Head thinks. He is irrelevant and will use any Clinton news to get his fat head on camera.

    It is a brilliant move....

I have to agree with you (although I suspect you do not agree with me) he is BRILLIANT!

By doing this he has managed to take the liar hilalry OUT of the Senate, and once she has shown herself to be incapable of doing the job as SOS or tries to upstage him or her idiot husband does ANYTHING stupid (within 6 months is my guess) he simply fires her now she is out of the senate AND out of the Government completely and we do not have to hear about the liar hiallary again for a LONG time say 2016 when she has learned her lesson

    Brilliant man!

Obama didn't pick Hillary as Secretary of State to keep her from running in 2012. He picked her because he really thinks she is the best person for the job. No one has more clout worldwide than Hillary does right now.

Rush is wrong. When was the last time an incumbent president had a challenge from someone in their own party while running for re-election? It just doesn't happen that often.

If Hillary decides to run again, it will be in 2016. Being SoS is just adding to her qualifications. If Obama is a good president and Hillary is a good SoS, she will be a lock in 2016.

Why does CNN legitimize this gas bag by reporting anything he says as news worthy?
He's a biased radio talk show host for crying out loud!

HEY CNN HOW'S ABOUT PUBLISHING MY POLITICAL OPINIONS. THEY HAVE AS MUCH VALIDITY AS RUSH LIMBAUGH'S!

The idea that Obama chose Hillary for SOS for political reasons is ridiculous. He chose her for the same reason he chose the rest of his cabinet and advisors.....talent! He wants to be surrounded and advised by intelligent people who can be trusted to do their jobs very, very well.

Nice try, but he's wrong. If Hillary decides she really wants to run in 2012, she can resign her post and go ahead and run. Welcome to reality, Rush.

Why does his opinion matter? Limbaugh will say anything if it will help his cause. Limbaugh represents a group of people in this country who will say anything in order for their side to win.
