Limbaugh calls Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke'

Limbaugh called Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke.'

(CNN) - Rush Limbaugh seems to have given Hillary Clinton his stamp of approval for the second time this year.

The conservative talk show host — who urged supporters during the primary season to back Clinton in an effort to prolong the bitter Democratic presidential nomination fight — told ABC’s Barbara Walters that Clinton’s selection as Secretary of State was "a brilliant stroke" by President-elect Obama.

He said the move was a political master stroke, effectively ruling out a primary challenge in four years. "You know the old phrase, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' How can she run for president in 2012?” he asks. “She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him - the one who made her Secretary of State."

Obama himself seemed to give a nod Monday to the pair’s policy disagreements during the 2008 primary season. "I assembled this team because I'm a strong believer in strong personalities and strong opinions,” he said at the event where he named Clinton as the leader of his new national security team. “I think that's how the best decisions are made.”

Although you're right. It is a brilliant stroke. Barack Obama is a BRILLIANT guy and I know God is helping him because of many many prayers.

Obama asked Hillary to be on the team because she's talented, not because he's trying to kill her chances in 2012.

Limbaugh is still as delusional as ever. His devisive style of politiking is yesterday's news. That he doesn't get that point, speaks volumes.

Yes now we finally stop hearing all of the paid Rush Limbaugh fanatics working for the GOP posing as "Clinton Democrats voting for McCain".

Why media outlets continue to give this giant bag of .... any press is completely beyond me.

He's a hypocrit and my dogs are more intelligent than this "person".

He, along with Sean Hannity, are poster children for why the Republican party failed to win this and many elections this cycle – you can only pander to ignorance for so long and expect the desired results – the problem is these two buffons are the most ignorant, self-serving of the lot.

Limbaugh is so cynical that he simply can't accept the possibility that ANYTHING in Washington is done out of a gesture of friendship instead of political gain. Newsflash, Rush: Just because that's how YOUR party operates, doesn't mean that's how Barack Obama operates.

Just typical Rush...rushing to make a comment about something he knows little about. He has to say SOMETHING, you know, just to stay in the limelight.

I'm hoping that the selection of Cabinet members and staff that President Elect Obama has made will give us a good chance to recover from the last 8 years, but as PE Obama said on election night, it is going to take all of us working as the UNITED States to resolve the huge issues facing us. We don't need more devisive tactics or there won't be a country for the GOP to fight to regain in 2016!

It doesn't matter who Obama has on his team. He will be running the show. Obama will make the final decisions

This tells more about Limbaugh than Obama. Clinton was picked not to keep her from running in 2012, but because she is a great person for the job! She brings organization, prestige and skill to a position hampered by W's lack of interest in diplomacy.
His likely pick of Gates to remain at the DOD and backing of Lieberman to keep his chairmanship, show a desire together a effective bi partisan team. Shame on you Rush for injecting your bias into everything.

WELCOME TO THE OBAMA SHOW December 1st, 2008 4:43 pm ET
    HEY OBAMA SUPPORTERS,
    ------------------–
    LOL,,,,, Small mind, BIG LETTERS!
You're a deep thinker, you are. Keep writing those upper case diatribes, PLEASE! They call attention to your stupidity.
Actually, if you had the intellect to look beyond the superficial, you could see that Obama has brought the best of the last administration that actually worked and those who are most effective from the current administration together to tackle the huge problems we face.
You should really try and get beyond the "Limbaugh" mentality and picture a world where the best, most creative minds work towards a common goal. That would be "the betterment of our country", in case you couldn't think of anything.

Love it. All the Demoncrat comments here are focusing on Rush rather than on the fact that Clintonistas now form the majority of Comrade Obummer's cabinet and agency picks. You know, the Obummer that got elected by the liberal left based on the "CHANGE" mantra. Can you say "blindsided", boys and girls? That'll teach you to trust a fellow leftist liberal. Unfortunately the rest of us are stuck with him for four years....at least the 2010 elections will remove the Demoncrats from power in Congress, just like 1994.

What Anti-Americans like Limbaugh don't understand is that both Obama and Clinton have the nation's welfare as the #1 priority. They both sacrificed in this decision but did so because we need the best now.

So for someone like Limbaugh, who can't fathom anything more important than himself, he has to attach Republican tactics to it to make it believable to himself.

I usede to hate Limbaugh...now I just pity him for the human he has chosen to be.

I am sure this was a great strategic choice for the New President. Well played. Now lets work on the promise of bringing home the troops. Not later, not in a year, this January.

    He is a total fool!

Clinton is not going to run against an incumbent President from the same Party; even if she stayed in the Senate-
I am floored at how many people are so AFRAID of her that they would think that.! Totally ridiculous.

But, at least he acknowledges that she is Presidential material to consider running again.

He owes his success to all the people who are dumber than him–dumb enough to listen to his show. Nothing short of frightful!

Nobody cares what limbaugh thinks anymore. The mean-spirited lies he wants to keep feeding his radio show listeners are yesterday's news.

The people we see Obama appointing to his cabinet (Clinton, Jones, Gates, Napolitano, et al.), as well as Obama himself, are a million times more intelligent, and more concerned with the advancement of our country than limbaugh is.

According to Rush, if keeping your enemies closer is brilliant, then by definition Bush and the Republican party are not brilliant.
