Limbaugh called Obama's selection of Clinton 'a brilliant stroke.'

(CNN) - Rush Limbaugh seems to have given Hillary Clinton his stamp of approval for the second time this year.

The conservative talk show host — who urged supporters during the primary season to back Clinton in an effort to prolong the bitter Democratic presidential nomination fight — told ABC’s Barbara Walters that Clinton’s selection as Secretary of State was "a brilliant stroke" by President-elect Obama.

He said the move was a political master stroke, effectively ruling out a primary challenge in four years. "You know the old phrase, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' How can she run for president in 2012?” he asks. “She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him - the one who made her Secretary of State."

Obama himself seemed to give a nod Monday to the pair’s policy disagreements during the 2008 primary season. "I assembled this team because I'm a strong believer in strong personalities and strong opinions,” he said at the event where he named Clinton as the leader of his new national security team. “I think that's how the best decisions are made.”

Except for those on the far right, who cares what he thinks. He thought the right would hold on to congress in 2006,he thought the games he played would defeat Obama during the primaries and he thought McCain would win in November. Really, who cares!

Well... Hillary Clinton is more of a friend to Obama than an enemy, so this ole' saying being borrowed by Limbaugh for this purpose really doesn't apply. This is really just Limbaugh being Limbaugh – i.e. giving disguised praise for the selection of HRC as SoS while simulataneously giving insult to the Dem establishment that he despises so much.

Does anybody care what this fool has to say......every time he opens his big mouth nothing but hot air comes out.
What a pity Obama couldn't give him a job on a remote island somewhere......or ship him off to the Bermuda Triangle in the hope he just disappears!!!

First off Limbaugh likes to hear himself talk, and second this was a great pick because she is qualified. No one in the same party would run against an incumbent president....this isn't 1980.

who cares what Limbaugh thinks? His rationale seems to be solely political as oppose to Hillary just being a good choice.

We don't need your comments Rush....

Your remarks are just not good for me.....

Limbaugh is truly an expert at pulling cards from the bottom of the deck. Supposing Mr. Limbaugh that Joe Biden doesn't stay on the ticket in 2012 (or anytime) and Hillary is selected as veep or running mate for PE Obama. What would that do for her chances in 2016. That would that also keep Palin in the deep freeze at least until Hillary, following Obama, has completed 2 terms as president by 2024. That's of course if you want to speculate. By then, Ms Clinton would probably be the most informed, qualified and capable person to ever run for President.

Read Rush's remarks very carefully. He did not say that HRC was a great candidate for SoS. He just said that this was a good maneuver for Obama to protect himself from long-term sabotage. Remembering how Rush and his "conservative" rabble-rousing colleagues demonized HRC for a long time, I can't help but think he's musing how having clinton in the cabinet gives them a target to blast at ("the great enabler",corrupt, etc) as well as raise the question: Change? What Change? Yes, the right-wing-nuts have got to be pleased!

I have a feeling the republicans have some tricks up their sleeves. All of a sudden, every Republican is just loving what Obama is doing. Every pick is just great. They are just saving up their bullets, I think. I don't buy it for one minute.

    Welcome to Obama Show,

please take your moronic statements somewhere else. President Obama is selecting the most competent people to lead this country. Who cares if they served under Clinton or Bush? He is keeping the Defense Secretary in his post, because he is competent at his job. What did you think change means? Change from the previous policies and cronyism.

Who gives a freakin' flip what that turd thinks about anything worth knowing? Now if I want to know where to get some good prescription drugs, where to get a prostitute in Mexico, how to treat syphillis, how to get illegal cigars, or how to tell lies about political opponents (and they are legion for mr. dittohead), then he might be the one to talk to.

    to Layne – brilliant!
"The disturbing thing is that he's putting the very woman whose foreign policy experience he previously derided in charge of US foreign policy. "

It is amazing to me that the average Obama supporter has so short a memory. Was Obama lying then or now?

He said whatever he thought would sound good or get the Haters going. This guy will take some watching in office! I hope the media is up to this. That will keep him honest in office and maybe he can deliver on some of the wild promises.

Limbaugh has done more to divide this country than he is worth. Maybe he should just go back to telling people to cut down old growth trees, burn large amounts of fuel in their suvs and pickups and let us all know there is no such thing as man made global warming! This man is a serious joke!

This must be Rush's idea of a self-imposed Fairness Doctrine. In other words, he knows he is going to be relegated to the loony bin unless he starts pandering to the entire country like he has pandered the extreme right all these years. Too bad (for him) that America has woken up from the nightmare of the Republicans. I just saw GOP Sen Ensign on CNN saying that the answer to the recession is "more corporate tax cuts". Just unreal. Corporate welfare is what got us IN this mess in the first place. The GOP is truly bankrupt in every way. Watching Rush paint himself as some sort of pragmatic centrist is absolutely the Right's coup de gras. Good luck in the wilderness losers. And thanks for nothing.

Rush the Dip just can't seem to fathom that Obama may have picked her because she is the most qualified. Typical Old School Republican attitude that there has to be some "political" motive behind everything. Exactly the kind of politics the people want changed.
