Obama rolled out his national security team Monday.

CHICAGO (CNN) – President-elect Barack Obama selected New York Sen. Hillary Clinton for the position of secretary of state Monday.

Obama also announced his decision to keep Defense Secretary Robert Gates in his current post, and named retired Marine Gen. Jim Jones as national security adviser.

Watch: Obama nominates Clinton to lead national security team

Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano has been named secretary of homeland security, Eric Holder as attorney general, and Susan Rice as United Nations ambassador.

"In this uncertain world, the time has come for a new beginning - a new dawn of American leadership to overcome the challenges of the 21st century, and to seize the opportunities embedded in those challenges," Obama said.

"To succeed, we must pursue a new strategy that skillfully uses, balances, and integrates all elements of American power: our military and diplomacy; our intelligence and law enforcement; our economy and the power of our moral example. The team that we have assembled here today is uniquely suited to do just that. They share my pragmatism about the use of power, and my sense of purpose about America's role as a leader in the world."

    Yes, you fool, Barack Hueeien Obama is YOUR President if you are a citizen of the USA. If you don't like that you can always give up your rights as an American and move anywhere you want. How about Iraq or maybe India?
    Obama will be the President for all Americans whether you like it or not.
    How about giving him a chance to at least take office and see what he can do before bashing him?
    January 20, 2009 can't come soon enough for me!

    Obama is slicker than Slick Willie ever was. Hillary is co-opted now – she cannot run against him. Signed, sealed and delivered – she's his!

    To everyone saying that they can't wait until 2012...........

    I can't wait either because by then Obama and his team will have this country chugging along on the right track again. Hopefully it won't take the entire 4 years to clean up the mess left by your man Bush.

    To all the rocket scientists out there continuing to criticize President elect Obama's choices for a cabinet, one question...

    Where exactly does one go to find qualified people to get our country out of two ill-advised wars, a crisis in our economy, and a world image of our country that is hilarious? He could go to the Bush/Chaney/Rove team that created those problems, or go to other government professionals with the experience to do the right thing. Frankly, I would rather have as many experienced non Bushies as possible. This is not a time for on the job training.

    Of course there's always Rush Lamebrain and Billo the Clown! They could make up the new USO comedy team!

    To those criticizing 30-m: Was Bush your president? Did you support him with honor even when you disagreed with him? Or did you endlessly snipe?

    Just more Democratic hypocrites.

    Even though I supported Hillary in the primaries, I don't care what Hillary does now. I can't support someone who was elected through media and party manipulation and party corruption. Obama is not my president.

    You do realize that you don't make any sense, right?

    You supported Hillary, then voted for McCain, now you don't care what Hillary does...

    Obama has picked a very strong team. The challenge now will be for him to ride herd on all the huge egos that came with the smart and competent people. If he can pull it off he will have a very successful administration.

    30-m-PA-Democrat-voted McCain – Sorry to see you leave the country.
    ---------------------

    I really wish they WOULD leave. If they had any dignity or were good for their word, they would put their money where their mouth is and get the heck out of this country. We don't need worthless whiners in this country. We need DOERS. And 30-Child-Confused-Voted Loser is the poster child for the scum bags that have done nothing their entire lives but pitch a fit and do nothing!

    Quit complaining and get on a plane. Get out if you don't like it. But for gods sake, shut your snivveling whining mouth and DO something other then complain for a change!

    PEOTUS Obama IS the change. He is putting together a cabinet that HE feels will work intellectually, as well as harmoniously to bring this Nation back to her proper place – the BEST Country in the whole world.

    To all of you "doubting" thomas', you can continue to complain and make YOURSELVES miserable, or you can anticipate the best for all of our citizens under the forthcoming administration.

    God bless you all and God bless America!

    Hillary as Secretary of State is the only good news in the past 6 months.
    ~~~~~~~~
    John McCain as President would have been terrible news for 4 years.
    Because he would have crushed Hillary Clinton.
    I use to be a liberal but now I’m an independent because I realized that liberals are just as stupid as many conservatives. Too many liberals and conservatives make dumb decisions based on their ideology. Domestic and foreign decisions should be handled with care and made in a pragmatic way and the individuals on Obama’s team will do that. They are all centrist minded thinkers and hopefully their decisions will not be influenced by the crap democrats and republicans have been spewing. This might be a shrewd way of doing things but I think it’s the only way to regain America’s prominence in the world.
    Obama is doing a fantastic job. I don't much care for Hillary, but based on all of his choices I have to accept he knows what he is doing in this selection.
