Biden said that Palin attending the NGA conference Tuesday is a sign the election is over.

(CNN) – In the first few moments of his remarks to the National Governors Association Tuesday, Vice President-elect Joe Biden thanked fall rival Sarah Palin for attending the bi-partisan conference, saying it’s a “a metaphor for the fact that this election is over.”

“I want to thank all of you for being here and Governor Palin I want to thank you particularly," Biden said to the Alaska governor. “I think it is, I hope, the whole country can see it’s sort of a metaphor for the fact that this election is over and here we are.

“We’re all together, we’re all dealing with a common [economic] problem,” he continued. “This is not a Democrat or Republican problem, we’ve got ourselves a problem.”

President-elect Obama and his VP greeted Palin as they walked into the room to a standing ovation. In his opening comments, Biden lamented the lack of attention he now receives compared to Palin.

“As I told you when we walked in, since the race is over no one pays attention to me at all,” Biden told Palin as the governors laughed. “So maybe you’ll walk outside with me or something later and say hello to me.”

Biden’s comments were just his third set of public remarks since Election Day.

Vigla,

You are correct that Republicans need to run people of intelligence, people who at least understand how the world works. That's why Huckabee did so well (pastor, counselor, Governor, rock musician, writer, small business owner, and now TV commentator). Palin was a good second-in-commnand, being co-owner of a fishing company (small business) and experience as mayor and Governor. Senators Brownback and Thompson would also have been good choices – there was just too much intelligence on the primary tickets, and cross-over democrats voted for the candidate least likely to succeed.

Market watcher   December 2nd, 2008 3:50 pm ET

I like Joe a lot, even if he DOESN'T know the difference between Radio and TV.

Jim   December 2nd, 2008 3:45 pm ET

Like calling his running mate "Barack America", or stealing speeches?

Tim   December 2nd, 2008 3:38 pm ET

Viagla.....well unfortuantely you bring up some great points about Palin.....will you now bring up those same points about the bafoon who got elected for the highest office?

MsBingo   December 2nd, 2008 3:37 pm ET

Ah say it ain't so Joe!

No one pays attention to him because he's just not fun to laugh at compared to Palin.

Hey Joe, it's a GOOD THINK buddy. You'll get plenty of face time over the next eight years God luv ya!

dave   December 2nd, 2008 3:37 pm ET

STAND UP, JOE!!!!!!!

God love, ya!

you are an idiot. Its better that no one is watching.

GA Independent   December 2nd, 2008 3:31 pm ET

I still love you Joe. I'd still keep my distance from that viper tho... no walks in the park with her! Read the Alaska papers to see what she's done to opponents and even supporters and friends in the past!

NB   December 2nd, 2008 3:30 pm ET

And why does it bother MSM and detractors that Joe Biden is so popular with so many? We took time to learn about this gentleman...personally and politically...others should do the same.

Dee   December 2nd, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Could he be any cuter? lol. We love you Joe :-)

NB   December 2nd, 2008 3:28 pm ET

I love Joe Biden and came to fully respect Obama the day he announced Biden as his running mate...I became fully involved in Obama-Biden campaign. Don't worry Joe, you have a huge fan base!

SJC   December 2nd, 2008 3:26 pm ET

To ME,

You said:

"He also had nearly 2 years to get ready for his first real interview. Palin had 2 months….picture him with Gibson's questions 2 weeks after he announced his candidacy…THAT would have been hilarious."

First, what you're (probably unintentionally) saying is that McCain showed incredibly bad judgment by picking someone so unprepared.

Second, one of the necessary criteria of intelligence is recognizing intelligence and stupidity in others. From your comment you seem to be saying that Palin is smarter than Obama. Deductively, guess what we can infer about you?

Jim_NH   December 2nd, 2008 3:23 pm ET

Joe Biden: The new Alexander Throttlebottom!

Joe Biden will be a very small footnote. Like it or not, Sarah Palin will be around for a while.

Average Joe   December 2nd, 2008 3:17 pm ET

NY republican   December 2nd, 2008 3:10 pm ET

@Vigla – supposition of what something would have been like if something else happened is NOT a FACT. So in a way you're right, "no one can argue that fact" but only because there is no fact.

City Council-in a town of 5000 people
Mayor: same town, little bigger, and she hired a CITY MANAGER to run things for her
Governor: Well, since Alaska has a part-time legislature, and since she has spent 4 other months running around the country out of her 22 months in office, not sure how much experience that is, plus Todd was never far from her phone conversations, e-mails, employee meetings, decision-making.
Oil and Gas Commission: yeah, she's on it, what does that prove? She knows how to tax oil? That gas pipeline she touts has yet to be APPROVED, let alone built.

Rich   December 2nd, 2008 3:06 pm ET

The hate mongering liberals continue to spew their vermin long after they stole the election (the fake birth certificate? ACORN rigged votes? voter intimidation?). Jo Biden got a facelift and a dog muzzle as the campaign dragged on, making himself look like Joan Rivers and being told to shut up by the dems. Sarah Palin has a lot more to her credit than our current president-elect, but at least I am willing to give him the benefit to screw things up even more on his own with good ole Jo at his side, and the other face lifted to death witch Nancy Fregosi at the other side.

NY republican   December 2nd, 2008 3:05 pm ET

Hey Joe the Old White Man – that's a BAD thing? Why?

SJC   December 2nd, 2008 3:03 pm ET

To Voice of Reason,

First calling Obama "Barry" shows the value of your post. Worthless! Next saying that Biden has empty rhetoric while implying Palin speaks with profound intelligence shows the value of your opinion. Also worthless!

Joyce   December 2nd, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Come to think of it, Joe held a very good position in the Senate as head of Foreign affairs committe. I thought that was pretty powerful. Now he is somewhat reduced to the side. But It's good to know that he participated in all the critical decision making that Barrack had done. That's a VP for you.

I heard John Kerry would now hold that position. That was why he was no longer interested in Sec. of State post.

Greg Hodges   December 2nd, 2008 3:02 pm ET

The man has a sense of humour.

Sue in MI   December 2nd, 2008 3:00 pm ET

I can't believe that Palin still commands the respect of anyone. She ran a campaign of hate, almost caused riots with her vitriol toward Obama, a man she didn't even know, trots her children out like trophies, talks about family values, yet is never home (or charges her state per diem when she is,) was very involved with convicted felon Ted Stephens, LOVES pork dollars and socialistic payouts from over-taxing the oil companies, and some of you defend her? What is there to like about her? She barely speaks English (NUCLEAR, Sarah, not nucular), doesn't know history or geography, has two children who dropped out of school, God, I could write a book about her in the brief time she has put herself into the media spotlight. And those approval ratings? Could they be based on the Alaska law that gives every person (man, woman, child) a fat oil check every year? Wonder what happens to those (and her ratings) now that oil has dropped 75% in the past year?

Karla   December 2nd, 2008 3:00 pm ET

How is it all the leftists have won by majority vote (not based on information I might add), and are still hateful, nasty, and vindictive. Not happy if you lose and not happy if you win...wow, must really suck to be a democrat.

P K   December 2nd, 2008 3:00 pm ET

Joe Dunderhead is going to be a very irrelevant and lonely man as vice=president..

sandee in Portland   December 2nd, 2008 2:50 pm ET

Good ol' Joe, what a guy! Bad ol' Palin, what a gal! It amazes me that someone of her caliber could even rise to the position of governor much less run for one of the highest offices in our country. Maybe this is why our country's in the shape it is....because people of her ilk actually have people thinking she is okay to run a government, whether it is local, state or national. You can certainly tell education is not our strong point anymore, when the average person will vote for someone so unintelligent.

ME   December 2nd, 2008 2:50 pm ET

Vigla....what in the world are you talking about?
City Counsel
Mayor
Oil and Gas Commission
Governor
nearly a decade in elected office....not qualified for VP?

Oh, wait....the all-so-important community organizer....qualified for President????? He also had nearly 2 years to get ready for his first real interview. Palin had 2 months....picture him with Gibson's questions 2 weeks after he announced his candidacy...THAT would have been hilarious.

deb in Colo   December 2nd, 2008 2:49 pm ET

TO Lisa, Texas – "Gov, Palin is a very intelligent woman. Why do you people want to slam her?"

I will argue the point that she is an intelligent woman. I don't know – you can't tell that by her run-on sentences. Her poor grammar. And she's shown no real grasp of the economy, international relations, or any other matter of import.

All I've ever heard from her is hate, comments of her opponents take out of context, and political gimmicks (Joe the Plumber being one). None of these things shows her "intelligence".

Aha!   December 2nd, 2008 2:48 pm ET

Today's headline: STUDY FINDS 1 IN 5 YOUNG ADULTS HAS PERSONALITY DISORDER.

That finally explains some of these eratic, babbling bloggers!

CanIcallyouJoe   December 2nd, 2008 2:47 pm ET

I love Biden – I really don't see how people can criticize Biden for "mouthing off" or "letting his remarks rule him at times". I think any of the gaffs he happens to make are just normal mistakes people encounter when they have to speak a lot while having to think through at lot of problems at the same time. (Luckily, Palin doesn't have this problem)

His sense of humor is a great plus – the government can take itself too seriously at times. I support and voted for Obama, but I think that he sometimes can push a little too hard with the "Office of the President Elect"; An office that has no real power.

Any mistakes Biden can make verbally can't be any worse than "My fellow prisoners" or "I can see Russian from my house."

Voice of Reason   December 2nd, 2008 2:47 pm ET

In other words, for a woman to be taken seriously, she can't be attractive? Most of the media treated her as a Presidential candidate running against Barry, but she ran as Vice Pres, against Biden, who was more windowdressing than any woman could be. His empty rhetoric was less intelligable than W's, and his poll numbers are lower. He served his purpose (to make Obama look legit) and will now fade to obscurity, while Palin's star will continue to rise for years to come.

FreeNLovIt   December 2nd, 2008 2:43 pm ET

Katrina   December 2nd, 2008 2:43 pm ET

Mr.V-P, you are awesome. I am glad you can laugh at yourself. Mrs. Palin is a hot mess!! She should go back to Alaska and raise her family. My goodness I am so tired of seeing her everytime I turn on the television. Thank God the country did not end up with that nut.

Gino   December 2nd, 2008 2:42 pm ET

Vegas Barbie for Obama   December 2nd, 2008 2:42 pm ET

No one pays attention to you because you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, Joe, which is standing by Pres.-elect Obama. Sarah is at loose ends now, so she had to go back to the beauty queen circuit ala the Republican party and try to get her strokes that way.

Vegas Barbie for Obama   December 2nd, 2008 2:41 pm ET

No worries, Joe! She gets attention because she is so obviously an attention junkie and she seeks it out. She has become the sideshow for the Republican party. She belongs at home with her special needs kids (I say "kids" because I count her 17-year old daughter as being special needs, as well as an irresponsible bimbo, who apparently hasn't fallen far from the tree as her mom, Sarah, seems pretty needy too).

Hey Jim – your comment "vitriol and hatred from the extremist left after an election they won" leaves me scratching my head.... haven't seen this, sorry. vitriol and hatred is part
of republican standard operating procedure (as evidenced during the last election). Dems ARE listening to our leaders and proving unity in action while working within the repub hate factory that continues (limbaugh, hannity and the like). Maybe you got the dems and repubs mixed up for what you're stating actually reflects the repubs – not the dems.

Jim,

There is no extreme left in this country. I'm sorry. I really think this is pent up frustration by Democrats who have felt cheated these last 8 years and now in retrospect are vindicated. Honestly, had Gore won the election, I seriously doubt we'd be in this much of a mess. No one can argue that fact. You may not have agreed to his policies, but he would have governed as a pragmatic centrist. I honestly feel we as Americans were all cheated in 2000. The vitriol you hear are those people who were mocked, bullied, called liars, unpatriotic, and all manner of names. Keep things in perspective please...

Spider   December 2nd, 2008 2:17 pm ET

Come on Joe. Snap out of it. As you predicted, it won't be too long before Obama is struggling with a international catastrophe and you'll be there to help him through it. People will care about you then, little buddy.

Fabian   December 2nd, 2008 2:15 pm ET

I don't think Joe needs attention. He's been getting it, for how long? three decades? He should just do his job. If his actions happen to be extra-ordinary, then I am sure the media will pay attention. Sarah has a lot going on for her. Lack of intellectual curiosity, new in the mainland America, former beauty Queen runner-up, and most importantly folksy speaking style. You can't beat all that. Just be yourself because you do not need to prove anything. Your occasional on-line makes laugh though, I have to admit.

Nan   December 2nd, 2008 2:15 pm ET

Now, if only people would stop paying attention to the bobblehead. Or is that BUBBLEHEAD? Yeah. It's bubblehead!

California Girl   December 2nd, 2008 2:15 pm ET

To all those who are accusing all of us dems of being hate mongers about Palin, it isn't hateful to express serious disagreement with someone's positions. You all have said HORRIBLE things about dems – leading example, Liddie Dole's comment about her opponent being atheistic when she knew full well it was false. You all have paraded your so-called moral superiority over the rest of us deemed not worthy because we aren't born again Christians for far too long. You can dish it out, but you can't take it. Deal with it. And as my mom would have said, "what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander."

Admit that Palin had no business being the VP nominee and we'll call it a day. She is about as qualified as you or I. Seriously, she was elected in a state with less than a million population against a corrupt incumbent.
Again, PLEASE admit that Republicans need to run people of intelligence, people who at least understand how the world works. Palin does not fit the bill. She may be fine as governor of Alaska, but frankly, that's about it.

You go Joe; I love Joe Biden, he's a good person and 4REAL. To "Jim" your comments to "liberals"; you need to stop hating and accept the fact that your GOP is the root of all these "issues" America is facing today, because GW Bush inability to be truthful about anything. Everyone is saying that America is "in a crasis of confidence" well 1 would think that the GOP and all of its members would stop telling LIES, that hasn't happen yet, thus Joe Biden's comments to S. To Jim,

You said:

"With the vitriol and hatred from the extremist left after an election they won, one wonders what they would be saying if they had lost."

This as opposed to love and kindness shown by the extremist right after Bush won in 2000 and 2004? Have you listened to Limbaugh, Coulter, Savage and Hannity the last 8 years?

You also said:

"Now is the time for us to come together and govern, not continue campaign rhetoric. Liberals, listen to your leader and realize that the campaign is over. Seriously."

Except for the gratuitous "Liberals", which seems to be a requirement when a conservative writes a sentence, I totally agree with this.

Christopher   December 2nd, 2008 2:05 pm ET

Palin must be feeling pretty frustrated by now - Hillary is now Secretary of State, Biden is now Vice-President, Michelle Obama is soon to the the First Lady. Everyone is "moving up" except Palin! Oh well. Back to Alaska, the frozen wasteland!

Patrick - Indianapolis   December 2nd, 2008 2:05 pm ET

Palin is NOT an intelligent person unless you compare her to mongoloids. I'm sorry, but we ALL watched the interviews and saw her stumble around like a bumbling idiot. You simply cannot fix stupid. Not in 2012 and not in 2016.

You won't see me pushing for Obama in 2012 until I see what he does between now and then. I sure as hell hope that Republicans can find something more intelligent than Sarah Palin before that time comes. If Obama blows it, and my only other option is Sarah Palin, then I just give up.

#2 Republicans find an intelligent candidate.

I am an Obama supporter and although Im not a big fan of Palin, just as I view some comments posted on Fox as being way over the top filled with hate and vile, I do agree that there are some against Paline that are also over the line. However I do have to say if you gon on Fox and read anything they post its mostly so negative that it borders treason. Comments of uniting against a President! Its as if they are seeking and looking for anything to tear down Obama. People we are one, we are all Americans. As a black man I cant stand the label African American. I am American as we all are, lets stop with the devisive comments folks. Its time to move on and show the world what we have lacked for 8 years now, unity to bring our great country back to where it was. Ok America, Im having faith in you, dont let me down, dont let your fellow Americans down.

Joe, no one really paid attention to you during the campaign either. Or McCain for that matter. The two folks who actually know what they are doing were sidelined while the rockstar/celebrity candidates who had no business running got the red carpet treatment.

It's at least comforting to know Obama will be surrounded by people who know what they are doing – like Hillary, Biden, Gates and Jones – when he clearly has no clue.

Biden should be thankful that the media never gave him the same vitriolic coverage that Sarah Palin garnered from them. Biden made some of the most asinine comments of the entire campaign season and never got called on it. Liberals truly harbor a hatred for Bush and Sarah Palin and it is pretty sad.

Anna, Missouri   December 2nd, 2008 1:51 pm ET

Lisa, Texas--most "intelligent people" learn to speak in complete sentences. They are capable of relaying their ideas to other people without the other people wondering what it was that the "intelligent person" had just said.

Yes, she gave an excellent speech at the convention. You seem to be confusing the fact that she could read a telepromtor that contained a speech, that someone else had written for her, with her own mind. Please listen to her speak when she is not reading something that someone else has written for her. There are many examples to choose from on the internet. If you can figure out what it is she is saying, please inform the rest of us.

Most of us believe that leaders should be able to speak to us in a language that we understand, and in America, that is English, not gibberish. In the future, please do not insult intellegent people by comparing them to Ms. Palin.

Greg   December 2nd, 2008 1:47 pm ET

This is why bi-partinship will not and can not work. The vocal base from both parties will not allow it. There will always be people that think they are better than every one else. Take the comments about Gov Palin, here is a woman in Alaska (truley a mans world) that has achieved the highest office in state govt. This should be held up as proof the American dream is alive, by all people if they agree with her politics or not, no less than all Americans should be proud of Obama's achievments. We won't, this once great country of unique individuals that come together for the good of the whole is doomed. Libs cannot succeed with out Cons or vice versa, but here we are in front of our computers saying hateful things about people we dissagree with. My how we must look!

MsRotten   December 2nd, 2008 1:45 pm ET

I'm sure Obama and Biden have a good hearty laugh at Palin's expense, in private. But I would just love to be a fly on the wall when they DO laugh it up. I can see/hear them now; each looking at one another and jerking their head to the side and *wink*winking*...."You betcha Joe"...."You betcha Barack"....*wink*wink*...we are mavicky.... *wink*wink*

gp   December 2nd, 2008 1:45 pm ET

Palin is a waste of air time. She is an IDIOT!! I have no respect for a woman who blabs blabs with no coherent thought. Go home and take care of your kids!! Your daughter needs her mother especially in her last months of pregnancy. I know I will be by my daughter's side to help her through her pregnancy. Believe me, she has a lot of questions and fears

Palin is a JOKE and DISGRACE to women!!

Dan   December 2nd, 2008 1:45 pm ET

I am glad to see our leaders taking the high road. They set a good example for us–one I wish we would all pay attention to and heed.

carol   December 2nd, 2008 1:44 pm ET

xcuseme: You are right, the attention that Palin gets is not what an educated person gets.

Fairfax Voter   December 2nd, 2008 1:43 pm ET

I like Joe Biden! He and Obama have been nothing but courteous to and about Sarah Palin from the moment she arrived on the national scene, and it is both good manners and good politics. Good for him.

Iroko Nija   December 2nd, 2008 1:42 pm ET

O the Bam we trust!
Joe the Biden we trust!
Hence we dont to look in on you guys
But Srah the Palin we mistrust
Hence we keep talking about her to ensure that no right thinking American group will put her up again on the aile.I keep asking for when Sarah Palin will hand over her boutique to charity as she promised or has it been overtaken by events?

Bob   December 2nd, 2008 1:40 pm ET

Is Sarah Palin the best Alaska has to offer?

carol   December 2nd, 2008 1:40 pm ET

Jim: We realize the election is over. Unfortunately, Palin does not.

Phil in KC   December 2nd, 2008 1:39 pm ET

They may not be paying a lot of attention, but thank God he's the one who was elected. I'll take Biden over Palin any day.

George in SF   December 2nd, 2008 1:37 pm ET

Who's Biden trying to kid? Nobody paid attention to him during the campaign either. He was a safe pick to advance Obama's chances with the liber's and as soon as the inauguration is over the Chicago Charlatan will kick him to the curb and we'll hear even less from him. That's a good thing. He's such a jerk and oh so irrelevant.

Palin Fan   December 2nd, 2008 1:35 pm ET

Palin for PRESIDENT '12

PoliticoMike   December 2nd, 2008 1:34 pm ET

Awe, Joe, I still love ya! Sides, do you really want to be put in the same category as Palin? She gets attention because people like watching wrecks!

Vicki5   December 2nd, 2008 1:33 pm ET

Perfect Mr. Biden, perfect. As for Mrs. Palin, she's not going anywhere in politics. I figure that McCain and other Republicans owed her this post election limelight. They keep trying to give her a chance to bow out gracefully. If she doesn't soon, they'll find a way to give her a clue.

Matt B   December 2nd, 2008 1:32 pm ET

Cruzan Obama Mama -

Who is watching the Obama kids? Am I mistaken or are they having the grandparents move in because they won't be able to be full-time parents. Enough with the Palin bashing!!! You people keep calling her names and questioning her intelligence? Joe Biden is still trying to explain his comments during the debate when he said the US joined forces with France to kick Hezbollah out of Syria. He's still trying to explain about all those times he went into the diner that had closed 20 years before. He's still trying to explain why he said you need an Indian accent to work at 7-11. He's still trying to explain why he asked a "dear friend" to stand up and take a bow when he is in a wheelchair. Please, the lefty's have gone to a new level of crazy when it comes to Palin. I'm not saying she's Presidential material because she is not but get over her and get over yourselves.

RealityKing   December 2nd, 2008 1:32 pm ET

Pakistani terrorists are paying close attention Joe, anymore doofus quotes for them??

Prakash, Canada   December 2nd, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Dont waste your time paying attention to her Mr Biden. She doesnt deserve any special attention whatsoever

reginald smith fairfax va   December 2nd, 2008 1:30 pm ET

some one should tell her that as soon as she apoligizes to people she considered unamerican and apoligize to the obama family by putting them in danger with her rhetoric and does this before she is forced to then i and a lot of people will look at her different. until then she is a divisive and dangerous person to minrites and to people who dissagree with her politically.

SO SARAH APOLIGIZE OK . DONT LOSE UR PRINCIPLE BUT VITRIOL IS WRONG.

JL   December 2nd, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Spoken like a true republican, Vice.

Greed, corruption, and secret ambitions may be what the Bush gang was about, but has never been, nor will ever be what Joe Biden is all about.

Mickey-Texas   December 2nd, 2008 1:29 pm ET

I'm behind you VP-Biden. Don't worry about Sarah. she has no clue how people really feel about her, she is still just a novelty. I think you were the perfect pick!

Larry   December 2nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

I have a serious question, are the people that hate Sarah Palin that post here, are they the Democrats that are the gay people in the party??

Franck   December 2nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

you mean she should go back to " I' ll ask 'her". Somewhat good for the country, but no so much for the mousse population up there near russia!

Fed up   December 2nd, 2008 1:24 pm ET

Every time I see an article about a Republican the comments are filled with lies and hate. No facts, just emotional bile. And half the comments call the republicans the party of hate. The only "hate" I've seen from the Republicans is using a candidates past against them. That's not hate, that's the truth (and sometimes it hurts). I don't expect this to ever get posted, and if it does I'm sure I will be insulted and dismissed as ignorant. Is this the way Democrats lead? Is this what we should expect from the majority party? If so, your time in the hot seat will be short.

No Hillary = No Obama   December 2nd, 2008 1:22 pm ET

That's why Hillary should have been chosen as VP and Biden as Secretary of State. Obama's ego would not let him do that and so as far as I'm concerned he turned his back on history while claiming history – sorry, but this was pure selfishness and it stopped history in it's tracks. So what's so great about Obama? He's just one more ego-driven politician.

Matt   December 2nd, 2008 1:20 pm ET

Who is he kidding? Conan the Delawarian scoffs at the Palinbot's 15 minutes!!!

And any republican trying to pin vitriol on the "liberal left" can go pound sand. After what your party did to our government and our political processes during the past three elections you're lucky it's just words we're hurling, not fresh feces.

This is just the start......

Your job was to get the Empty Suit in office...

Now be ready should the Empty Suit's Hart stop beading!

Sarah is the voice of the American people and she will continue to be heard!

carol   December 2nd, 2008 1:18 pm ET

Good on you Joe, still injecting some humour into things....the election is over and we do all have to come together and I think Obama made a good speech to the Governer's, showing he wants all their input and that he doesn't know it all.
I think he is showing all the makings of a great President.

FLewis   December 2nd, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Sarah, pls. go back to Alaska. My husband and I are sooooooooooooo sick of looking at your face and hearing your voice. We were hoping that once the election was over, you will return to Alaska and do your Governor's work, and what about your kids? Who's taking care of them? Oh yeah..........What's your jerk husband's name? Anyway, leave us alone. We can't stand you. Go back to Alaska, please, please, please!

John from LA   December 2nd, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Hey bots-your Messiah won!-why spew hatred at the repubs????-I thought your leader taught you not to speak ill of others???

Typical bots!

Truth Hurts   December 2nd, 2008 1:16 pm ET

Nobody paid attention to Biden before either.

mary, colorado springs   December 2nd, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Joe: I would much rather listen to you than Sarah. Your words have substance and common sense; hers are so full of hot air I don't know how she keeps her feet on the ground.

REMEMBER: You are the one going to the White House, not Sarah.

Sarah: It's over. The fat lady has sung. The orchestra has gone home. The lights have been turned out. The doors have been locked. Take your parka and mush back to Alaska.

Virginia   December 2nd, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Poor poor Joe! We are so sad no one pays attention to you now–but then who did before you were elected VP??? At least Sarah didn't have a scowl the whole time she debated you......

Keith in CA   December 2nd, 2008 1:14 pm ET

Sarah Palin is the Paris Hilton of politics.

Inspektah Deck   December 2nd, 2008 1:13 pm ET

Well gee there, Joe maybe you should just say more stupid stuff more often and just forget everything you ever learned about subject/verb agreement and proper syntax and sentence structure-

And also too, wrinkle your nose and wink a lot and say adorable things like "you betcha!" and darnit- I'd bet those gotcha reporters will pay al heckuva lot more attention to ya!

Oh, and also too, it's gotta be all about job creation...

Sharon Kitchen   December 2nd, 2008 1:13 pm ET

Vice President-Elect Biden,
This was a very good meeting and hopefuly all the outcomes and ideas will become jobs for those that do not have one or have just today lost their job. Then, after the pay checks are recieved and everyone is able to pay their bills on time, have a home to live in,a way to get back and forth to work, their pride uplifted and the U.S.A. climbing back up the hill from the 8 year bad freefall, the U.S. will again be looked at as a role model.
Do not be to worried about not being noticed for a short while..........the work is on the way. The news will be reporting to anyone who will listen, the good work.......or the problems.
You will be noticed..........I am glad you still have the sense of humor that makes you you. We will all need this in the days and weeks and years ahead as we all work together.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE IGNAGURATION DAY !!!!!!!!

Go Obama/Biden and staff

Dave   December 2nd, 2008 1:10 pm ET

I will show Biden and Obama the same respect all you democrats showed to Bush and Chaney!

roy   December 2nd, 2008 1:10 pm ET

I think the Democrats should forter and mentor a few (and I do NOT mean this in a sexist manner!!) attractive women of varying ethnicities and get them into positions of high visibility....THAT will make Palin disappear into the politicasl ether. Sarah Palin is NOT famous or popular because of anything to do with her brain..PERIOD!

LEAD FREAK   December 2nd, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Biden is a plagiarist and butt smoocher royale. His muzzle is tight, as he was a means to an end, and nothing more. Biden is pathetic; sold his soul and his country out at the same time. Just cannot wait to see the international crisis upcoming (as predicted by BIDEN) – will that somehow become Bush's or Palin's fault?? b/c nothing tarnishes Barry or Joe. Don't mess with the messiah or his boy.

cool onlooker   December 2nd, 2008 1:07 pm ET

I love Joe's sense of humor.

Mr. VP, the attention and success is not just measured by limelight.

You are a winner and will always be.

Maggie Muggins   December 2nd, 2008 1:06 pm ET

Let's keep Sara in the limelight it is the best thing for the Democrats and the country as a whole. The GOP hasn't figured out why they can't get half of the votes as yet and if we are lucky they will want a Palin to keep their base of bible thumpers the rest of the country rejects.

Laverne   December 2nd, 2008 1:05 pm ET

Sometimes silence is golden because the most of the time the loudest on in the room is saying the least!

Roger   December 2nd, 2008 1:03 pm ET

Don't worry Joe....we know and pray that you are running the show behind the scenes for the safety of all of us.

Chase   December 2nd, 2008 1:02 pm ET

OK, as Biden said, the election is over. You wouldn't know it by the tone of the blogs on both sides.

Whether you like them, or not, Obama and Biden HAVE to succeed. If they don't, we are ALL in a lot of trouble.

Bipartisnship got us into this mess, cooperation will get us out. That goes for both sides of the aisle.

Stop talking about Palin and how much you hate her, because that doesn't matter now. Instead of spewing more hate, by saying she spews hate, ask yourself...what have you done today that will help a fellow American (Republican, Democrat, or otherwise) get through this crisis? How are you making this country a better place? Certainly not by complaining on an online blog!

tamika   December 2nd, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Sounds like a lot of Democrats are afraid of the lady. So much so, that they resort to name calling and gender biased comments. Now that we have a black president, I hope to one day see the day that all women will also be treated equally to men and given the respect they deserve. Comments such as the ones in this blog have no place in the work place, no place in government, and no place in society in general. These comments only hurt the Democrats by their sheer cruelty and brutality. Go ahead fellow Democrats. Kick yourselves in the balls. There will come a day that women will not tolerate this kind of talk about anyone of their gender regardless of which political party they represent.

Azalea   December 2nd, 2008 1:01 pm ET

CNN – DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET RID OF CAMPBELL BROWN. SENT HER BACK TO NBC, YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF.

MikeH   December 2nd, 2008 1:01 pm ET

Rob, methinks the blabbering idiot is you.

A Bible-Belt-educated person are you? Have a weight problem? Think humans rode on the backs of dinosaurs? Then Sarah Palin's your hero.

Rush Lameduck   December 2nd, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Joe, all you need is a G string and a pole to dance with, and you will get much more attention too.

PURPLE HEART   December 2nd, 2008 12:58 pm ET

JOE SHOULD HAVE ASKED HER IF SHE ATE TOO MUCK TURKEY BECAUSE TO THOSE WHO KNOW WHERE TO LOOK,ALL WE CAN SEE IS TURKEY MEAT IN HER HEAD AND NOT BRAINS.

Tony   December 2nd, 2008 12:58 pm ET

For the life of me, I could not understand why Gov Palin still gets so much media attention. But it makes since now, its like having a clown at the circus being the centre of attraction "I guess she is the clown of American politics. I honestly don't mean to sound so harsh but its the real truth.. This woman has not a clue... and to believe she was Sen. McCain choice for VP.. I lost tremendous respect for McCain judgment when he picked her.

jon   December 2nd, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Jenn the point everyone is making here is that Sarah Palin is going to events that dont merit coverage from the media. YOu dont see Governors from every state having news articles written about them every day like her. The woman sneezes and she gets coverage. Find me an article about Dan Quayle after he lost the election and I will say this Sarah Palin coverage is warranted.

Georgia Gal   December 2nd, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Of course no one is paying attention to Joe. He isn't be thrust into our face 24/7 like Sarah is and trust me, Joe ... that is a good thing. You're much better off this way.

Silence Dogood   December 2nd, 2008 12:56 pm ET

The reason is Biden talks like all the other politicians. Even though I do not agree with her, at least Palin is a straight talker. You what you don't like right away. Refreshing comparerd to most other politicians including Obama / Biden, who go through an entire speech and haven't even expressed a concrete opinion.

Palin: "I like hunting."(crowd unhappy)

Obama: "I think all americans would consider equality and change in our approach to animals for all people all the time and I will consider all opinions." (crowd cheers)

(not actual quotes but they could be)

wnw   December 2nd, 2008 12:53 pm ET

Sarah 2012, you betcha!

Jim   December 2nd, 2008 12:52 pm ET

With the vitriol and hatred from the extremist left after an election they won, one wonders what they would be saying if they had lost.

Now is the time for us to come together and govern, not continue campaign rhetoric. Liberals, listen to your leader and realize that the campaign is over. Seriously.

Jay   December 2nd, 2008 12:52 pm ET

Ken... no need to comment on this one, you took the words right out of my mouth :-)

Bill Klewitz, Albany, Georgia   December 2nd, 2008 12:50 pm ET

He put everything on hold for this emergency trip to work things out between the Paki's and Indi's.....Don't worry Sarah, Johnny will be home soon, just play with Joe, the Champ.

Lisa, Texas   December 2nd, 2008 12:50 pm ET

Such horrible remarks from what I believe to be adults.
Gov, Palin is a very intelligent woman. Why do you people want to slam her? VP-elect Joe Biden is a great man, also. Although neither he or Obama were my choice, I would never speak of them the way the last commenters have. I am ashamed of you people.

freak show   December 2nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Americans love train wrecks. That's why Palin gets all the attention.

Joe Biden is too nice, smart, normal, and functional to get media attention. For the record, though, I think he's lucky that the media largely ignores him.

Lisa P   December 2nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Michael-Ventura,CA   December 2nd, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Sue   December 2nd, 2008 12:47 pm ET

This is a good thing Joe... with no one paying attention to the Obama cabinet, this would be a great opportunity to ram home some good quality policy in the interests of the people. If they were paying attention, they would dispute them, just like most of them wanted the rich to run the country...

xcusme   December 2nd, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Please, Palin just go away and raise what is left of your family so the rest of them DO NOT drop out of high school like the first group has!!! Apparently, education is NOT a priority in Alaska!!! Palin has none!!!

Jackie in Dallas December 2nd, 2008 12:18 pm ET

It is a joke that isn't funny. Biden, a man of intelligence and courage taking second fiddle position to a women with no ethics, no morals, and no brains. It is sad.

CNN, a challenge. Everytime you print a story about Palin, you MUST find a way to print a story about Biden.
Jackie 1 question
Why does CNN have to print a story about Biden if he has done nothing to warrant a story?? Obama has put a muzzle on him, gee I wonder why , Joe has always been a open mouth insert foot type of guy and Obama doesn't need that right now.

Palin has been asked and invited to all the events she has attended and you people make it out lkike she is the devil for going and then the news covering it.
People need to grow up and stop the nonsense, If you don't like her then don't read the story. If you don't want her in the public eye move to Alaska and vote her out of office and if none of these suggestions are to your liking to bad get used to her being in the public eye because she's not going away.

beth   December 2nd, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Hey Joe, You are better off having no attention paid to you. The only reason anyone pays attention to Palin is because she's so pathetic. Soon her second grandchild will be born and she can go crawl back under her rock and we will never hear from her again. YEAH!!!!

I don't think that she'll ever make it much further than being Governor of Alaska.

Nick   December 2nd, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Joe, you're not a train wreck. And boy do we love to watch a good train wreck. Or a car flying off a cliff. Flaming car. Maybe a flaming train going off the cliff.

Cruzan Obama Mama   December 2nd, 2008 12:44 pm ET

What I want to know is....Who is watching the kids while she is running laps around the country and speaking into every microphone? I thought she said this was time to put family first....is this how she does it? At least McCain took some time out to go back to his family. No wonder her home-life is in disarray. Before anyone even goes there....I too am a working mother with my priorities in the right order, unlike Palin.

Biden, you do not need the kind of attention she is getting. She is being used as entertainment and is to clueless to notice.

Hopefully (fingers & toes crossed) she will be gone soon. Heck, isn't the grandbaby coming soon!!!! Maybe that will lure her back to Alaska.

shirley ann   December 2nd, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Good Luck man, this wont be easy.

Hopefully Palin will soon just go away you think Hillary only cares about herself and her career just look at Palin and you are looking at the second generation lol. It's not that she doesn't know certain things that borther me what borther's me is that it seems like she doesn't care to find out these things. She acts like she is annoy we would expect her to know these things. I will take Biden over Palin anyday don't worry Biden you have nothing to envy.

Vice   December 2nd, 2008 12:41 pm ET

He got what he wanted, all his life, a vice-presidency instead of presidency. Watch out, Obama, a lot of people have their own selfish ambition, in the long run, it is human nature, rather imperfect, sinful and self-centered. Anyone can say anything in public, but only God knows what is in his heart, and his secret past.

Erik from Real Pennsylvania   December 2nd, 2008 12:41 pm ET

That Other Jerry   December 2nd, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Sarah Palin has done nothing more or less than govern her state, accept an offer to run for higher office, conduct a brief campaign, and make a few public appearances since the election. Certainly she's done nothing to justify the absurd amount of idiotic, childish, moronic rubbish that spews from the keyboards of the tribe of proto-humanoids that camp out on this website. It's way past time for all of you to get a life. Stop by the convenience store, get a six-pack and a copy of the Weekly World News, head on back to your trailer, and turn on the TV. Pro wrestling will be on shortly. The sooner you stop trying to think like the grownups, the sooner your head will stop hurting.

Maryann Rose   December 2nd, 2008 12:39 pm ET

I do love Joe Biden! I wish he would get more attention. I agree with Jackie in Dallas – every time we see Sarah, we need to see JOE!!

Every time I hear Ms. Palin speak, I thank our lucky stars that we dodged THAT bullet.

I much prefer 'Joe the VP' to 'Joe the Plumber'.

For me, the governors will put her in her place back in the kitchen Good ridence too.

Remember Republicans, you can't win on a base only election bid.

Palin vs. Obama, get real, she
could never match wits with someone of his intellect.

Besides moderates like me, can't stand Palin.
She's dangerously ignorant and doesn't even know it.
She rambles on and on like she can't complete a simple declarative sentence. Who wants someone like that near the Whitehouse.
Come on get a grip, throw some real competition into the ring.

Palin is not near smart enough to realize that the election is over, Joe, so I'm glad someone smarter than she could ever hope to be (probably includes the rest of the crowd gathered for that matter) could be there to explain it to her in terms not over her head which is a reach, I know.

Brian G, Sugar Land, TX   December 2nd, 2008 12:32 pm ET

Give it a chance, Joe. You ain't officially in office yet!

rm   December 2nd, 2008 12:32 pm ET

I love Joe Biden.

obama-mama   December 2nd, 2008 12:30 pm ET

I hope air head Sarah doesn't take Biden's comment as a compliment. I can see her smiling from ear to ear. He knows she is a dimwit.

Laverne   December 2nd, 2008 12:29 pm ET

Does somebody's ego need to be stroked?? Oh Joe, say it aint so!

silver bells   December 2nd, 2008 12:28 pm ET

vp biden, you are the man that will take charge if the need should come up, you don't need the kind of attention that the governor of alaska is getting, she'll be gone soon, you will still be the one we are counting on, be blessed.

ChicagoSuz   December 2nd, 2008 12:26 pm ET

Ya gotta love Joe Biden... :-)

Give me a clue   December 2nd, 2008 12:26 pm ET

Who is Joe Biden?

Barbara in NC   December 2nd, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Joe – put on some lipstick, shake your hips, wink a lot – I'm sure you'll get the same kind of attention she does. ha ha ha ha ha

Everyone wants to see the two-headed snake at the circus, but no one wants it in their house.

katiec   December 2nd, 2008 12:19 pm ET

I hope Palin realizes this was not a compliment to her.
In plain words, she lost, regardless of her efforts to draw attention
and the media's support of her. Biden does not need to be in
the limelight, he is our next vice president.
She is a wannabe who will never make it.

Dr.Mimi De La Cruz   December 2nd, 2008 12:17 pm ET

VP.BIDEN, SIR

SHE DOES WHAT YOU CAN'T AND WON'T.

SHE WOKS THE POLE, WHILE SPEWING HATE.

THAT SIR TAKES VERY SPECIALIZED TALENTS.

BS not Maverick   December 2nd, 2008 12:16 pm ET

we are watching!

Changes in WA   December 2nd, 2008 12:16 pm ET

With a bit of luck, Sarah will soon go home to Alaska and stay there for a while.....until the next gubenatorial election and she can be replaced.

Ken   December 2nd, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Don't worry Joe, she is the lead freak in the [R] sideshow. Once everyone pays their quarter and has a look at the freak, the sideshow will close.
