The history books will be alot kinder to Clinton than his successor but
he kind of reminds me of an ageing boxer,not being able to cope with-out the limelight and not willing to admit his time is over.

Wasn't this the same Bill Clinton who got impeached for lieing under oath to the American people.? ? How soon we forget.

I think he should stay in the background. Obama likes it low-key -no drama -just get things done. He has already met with the Governors and wants transparency for any funds that are given to the states. We will get safe bridges, safe and better schools, lots of goodies for our state and our children. Now we have to have better laws to put rapists and pedophiles away for LIFE .Lets hear more about those issues and less about gays and abortion rights!! Rapists and pedophiles are killers of the spirit and souls' of the victims.

But the national debt (not the deficit) was retired under Clinton and we had a surplus. If he can make that happen again, we ought to change the Constitution and bring him back! I could care less about Lewinsky, a woman, not a child, who set him up (he's not blameless, but he never allowed torture, either, nor had 5,000 of our servicepeople killed and thousands more maimed, not to mention 100,000 dead Iraqis and millions of displaced Iraqis.) Bush has committed crimes against humanity and should have been impeached, but for Pelosi's complicity in allowing torture...she doesn't want that to come out, so won't allow hearings.

Obama will be the face of the Presidency but Hillary Clinton will be the guts.

I recall the first time Clinton ran for office... he said the country will get two for the price of one... and that if anything, Hillary was smarter than him. Now despite his philandering, that is a gracious statement for any husband to make. Men who fool around often love their wives very much. The other is like an illness... they simply seem unable to resist. No one can say that he is not intelligent and qualified for any role he might play in the administration directly or indirectly.

I'm sure the financial disclosure is no problem for either Clintons. Even in the Republican witch hunt that proved only that he was an unfaithful husband, NOTHING was proved against Bill Clinton.

Bush is the one who should be impeached... right along with Cheney.. but it will never happen. The republicans have teflon skin... and the Media aids them in this feat. After all, what is media... but big business. Sorry, I'm very cynical today....

Even if Bill is not getting any role, somehow I feel one of his feet is already stepping into the ground. One of his hands is pressing some buttons here and there, manipulating the administration.

I'm a registered democrat but very close to the center. I have mixed feelings about former president Clinton involved in the new administration. Unlike most Republicans I know, I can give him credit where credit is due. During his eight years I thought he was a great president and accomplished much. Unlike most Democrats, I am ashamed of how he left office, and certainly understand Republican anger on that point. He could bring alot of unwanted baggage to what otherwise may be a very promising administration.

I'm mystified as to why so many Republicans have already decided PE Obama will do nothing but run the country the rest of way into the ground. It seems we gave Bush two terms and obviously, the majority of Americans, Republican and Democrat (all but a small core of die-hard conservatives), believe he was not a good leader and did not take the country in the right direction. For goodness sakes, give our new man a chance. We've had good, great and poor presidents of both parties. Why castigate and criticize PE Obama when he hasn't even begun serving the nation? Had we done that at the outset of the Reagan years or Clinton years wouldn't we look sillly now?

I wonder how anyone can criticize a past president that presided over one of the most prolific periods in American history in terms of finance. the Clinton era was filled with EMPLOYMENT, BALANCED BUDGETS, LEAPS IN TECHNOLOGY AND OVERALL PROSPERITY FOR MORE PEOPLE THAN EVER BEFORE. as far as I'm concerned they should have left him in office. Vigla–You need to read the Constitution, Article 1, Section 6 states:

No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.

The pay for the SoS has been increased during Hillary's time as a NY Senator. So, for her to be approved as the SoS, Congress would have to figure out a work around to this minor Constitutional detail such as Hillary not accepting the increased pay for her new job.

And as far as those who still believe that President-elect Obama isn't a US citizen because his birth certificate may show he was born outside the US–regardless of where he was born, his mother was a US citizen which made him one by birth. My daughter was born in Germany but she is a US citizen by birth because both I and her father are US citizens by birth.

For everyone who said give the bailout money back to the people Google "Gohmert+Tax holiday". This rep from Texas is proposing a fed income tax holiday for January-February. He proposes using some of the remaining bailout money to fund it. This is real relief for taxpayers. Side benefit is employers (big, small, households who employ) also get payroll tax reliefs.

To those of you who whine about former Clinton administration officials becoming part of the Obama administration not representing "change" miss the point. Change primarily is referring to the policies set by the Republicans in the last eight years. Obama is a Democrat, Presidents traditionally fill their cabinet with members of their own party. Most experienced Democrats where connected to the last Democratic administration (Clinton) The last democratic administration before Clinton was carter in the late 1970's. How many of those folks do you think are ready willing or able to serve now?

Yeah lets go back to clinton years. Where Social security was robbed and went broke by clinton to pay the bills. Just like illinois, when obama helped our governor take state pensions funds to pay off bills. then spent more. Now we have more debt. and they want to raise taxes to pay back funds they drained. I voted for and support Obama, but anything more than a phone call or casual discussion over current affairs (I couldn't help slipping in that Clinton pun.... apologies..) – anything he'd have to "be in the credits" for – is overdoing it a bit.

I got an email from Michael Moore this morning regarding the bailout of the big 3 automakers. That's another topic but one thing Moore said stuck in my mind.
He said, "We need a Marshall Plan to switch us off oil-dependent vehicles and get us into the 21st century.
This proposal is not radical or rocket science. It just takes one of the smartest people ever to run for the presidency to pull it off."

I think this is the most important point. We now have one of the smartest presidents ever about to take office. Why don't we wait till the inauguration and give him some time to see what he can do before we start the criticisms?

Bill Clinton was an average president at best. Sure he left with things in good shape if you look at the surface. Underneath was the banking bubble ready to burst and a weak military ripe for 911. What did he care, people would blame all that on Bush.

I find it hilarious that people on this blog say Obama is inheriting Bush's mess yet refuse to acknowledge the mess Bush inherited from Clinton. Bush tried to fix the Fannie Mae fiasco Clinton left behind, (research in the Democratic Newspaper, the NY Times), and even submitted legislation to Congress to regulate the industry but was stopped by the Democrats in Congress. Talk about thinking of their party first over the American people. Sure Clinton created jobs, mostly related to the housing industry that rode the housing bubble all the way to bursting.

Everyone is saying how billy was great at creating jobs but look at every democratic president has done to our military and left it to a republican president to rebuild. while Clinton was in office the veterans got little or no housing increases, decreased on spending on medical coverage for the vets. these are the people who really keep you free. I'm not too smart or anything, but if someone takes people who oppose their views, out of the house and senate and puts those people under them where he can keep them in check, isn't that change? what linda is refering to is a clause in the constitution which roughly states... if a legislater votes a pay raise for a given position in govt, that person is ineligable for said position. It is an obscure rule, but a rule none the less. The easy way to fix it, as has been done in the past, is to decrease the pay to the previous level. That being said the question comes to mind why not donate the entire sallery to help people in need, the Clintons aren't exactly hurting for money, for that matter neither is anyone else in govt. , just something to think about.

I'm 83, am I old enough to make a commit? My thoughts have always been about our country. Have seen and lived through quite a lot in my life time. We're pulling together again and we will make it just fine. Obama, a good intelligent leader. Loves our country.

If not having my wits about me is the reason I voted the way I did, then I think I can join with the millions of people who voted the way I did by saying, you can keep your wits, I'll go with hope and change!!!

I can only guess that all the detractors have forgotten that President Clinton guided this nation through eight years of prosperity and no wars. He did – of course – squander his moral authority with a silly daliance with an intern. But, still, by most measures that count, he was a good president.

As much as I admire President Clinton's abilities, I cannot support the notion of him having an official role in the Obama administration. I believe Obama needs to make his own mark, follow his own ideals, without a lot of second guessing from the populace about the question of how much of what he does – or doesn't do – was impacted by the very persuasive Bill Clinton.

First and foremost ,for those that taut Bill Clinton and his many success, it should be noted that I believe the Republicans controlled congress at the time. So a balanced budget would be their success also.
As far as Bill helping Obama out, why not. Just keep a tight leash on him and hire a group to monitor him for damage control, as Hillary will be busy lining up new clients for his brisk overseas businesses.

I think best choice for Bill is to keep him active with small tactical missions. He's a smart and energetic talent to leave idle. He's especially very knowledgeable on world affairs. Hasn't he already proven his ability to change minds and views? Change is in the leadership and what that does with the tools at hand. When a corporation gets a new CEO he often keeps most of the upper level staff. The change lies in how the staff is directed.

Good points, Bill Clinton was liked and respected all over the World, not so with G W Bush. He left the country in a positive state with a surplus which Bush used up and spent more. The Democrats have had to put up with 8 years of disasters one after the other. My views are more 'real' republican than democrat for sure. Meaning less government involvment/spending, but the Republican Party has moved away from that (who knows why). When you look at United States history it is hard to see why the people have been so against Democrats. The 2 Presidents that have contributed the most to our national Debt have been Reagan and G. W. Bush – REPUBLICANS! Bill Clinton with a Republican Congress is probably the most successful government this country has had since Eisenhower. The US thrived in the 90s with a Democrat at the helm. He would be remembered as one of the best Presidents of all time if he hadn't had an encounter with an intern which had nothing to do with how he ran the country. I may not agree with Public healthcare and terrible spending habits of our government, but its hard to argue that a republican would do a better job than Obama. There is one thing Obama has going for him, he is very smart and surrounds himself with smart people. Can't fault him for that, especially after the last 8 years.

Our country need all the help we can get. If Bill Clinton wants to help, please let him. Also Colin Powell would be a great advisor to Obama if he does not want a position. Go OBAMA!!

I have always like Bill but the election changed my mind about him in many ways. Let Hillary be the SOS but bill needs to continue to work with his global progam, not have a position in Obama's administration.

All I know is that when Clinton was president people had jobs, we were not at war on two fronts and most of us had change in our pockets; don't forget he was responsible to eliminating the deficit. Frankly, the GOP did everything in their power to discredit the Clintons. Why don't we ever address the fact that the GOP brings out the abortion issue every time there is an election? If Roe vs Wade was going to be repealed wouldn't have the village idiot taken care of it in the eight years he was king? Same old tune. The GOP needs to disband and began a new party.

The U.S. citizens should be thankful that their country is turning a new page again and with Obama as lead and such highly respected people as Hilary Clinton...... the world will start looking brighter. Good grief.....the nay-saying here is really getting boring. Appointments are being made by people who know the whole picture in the inside track, and the inauguration for their terms hasn't even happened yet. It makes a lot more sense to let it rest and wait and see what happens after the new administration takes office. In the meantime, most of us need to mind our own lives and quit wasting time being sarcastic or posting uninformed comments.

Mike tells us Bill should work in the HR Dept and interview interns. Mike's a funny guy. Maybe you can do that better than Bubba, Mike. There are job openings in the Obama administration.

We all need to separate the candidates' behavior during a campaign from their behavior in their day job.

Both Bill and Hillary got stupid during the campaign. The main reason Barack Obama won the primaries is that he mostly refused to return in kind. However, even he wasn't perfect. (Remember, he also had HIS 3am ad!!)

But Both Bill and Hillary have done an excellent job in the White House and New York. And Obama has done an equally good job in Illinois.

Now that the sparring matches are over, they can go back to normal. I believe that all three will be able to work out their differences and make the changes that we need.

Of course, the first big change has already happened. We got rid of Bush and Cheney. That's an excellent start!!

Obama made an awesome choice of Hillary Clinton for secretary of state. She will represent us well. As far as her connection to former President Bill Clinton; it is a great advantage.
