Oprah hit the trail for Obama during the primary season.
Oprah hit the trail for Obama during the primary season.

(CNN) – Oprah Winfrey is heading to Washington.

The talk show host told Access Hollywood Tuesday night that she will tape her inauguration week shows in the nation’s capital, and has rented the Kennedy Center’s lush Opera House – which seats roughly 2,300 - to serve as her studio for the week.

"I'm going to break that right here; that's where I'm going to be," she said. "See you there . . . that's the place to be."

Winfrey, who fundraised for Obama, appeared with him in several key primary states, including Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. She was also on hand for his acceptance speech at the Democratic convention in Denver, and his victory speech in Chicago last month.

“There are not even words to talk about what this night means,” Oprah told Access Hollywood that night. “Everybody keeps using the word historic — there’s never been a night like this on the planet earth… Nothing can compare to this.”

I agree, before President-Elect it seemed like if you were bi-racial, you were considered BLACK, but now its different!!! WOW, what a difference a month makes!! Rock on Oprah and Barack!! Do your thing!!

Brendan H., San Antonio, TX   December 4th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

Oprah Winfrey is next going to take credit for predicting sunrise and sunset!

Tell me, Oprah, are you going to provide transportation for the army of North Shore soccer moms who make up your audience for your television show?! You know, the girls from the wealthy North Shore heavily Republican neighborhoods?!

Or, for your next stunt are you going to invite disadvantaged people to your show and give away cars to them even though you know most of them will be given back because the "winners" can't afford the taxes on them? Oh, wait, you did that!!! Never mind!!!!!!

oprah is a PRIVATE citizen...harpo is a PRIVATE company.
she can do whatever the hell she wants to.

she hosted no candidate after the primaries (something she COULD have done at her pleasure if she wanted anyway!!). a private citizen should not have to sacrifice free will to satisfy anyone! i hope she even as him as a regular guest on the show!!!!!!

hanity sat down with mccain/palin and literaly kissed their @$$e$ on his show and never hosted barack even once – just dogged him up until today...where is all the rage there??

petty people make me sick! leave oprah's and her company's decisions to the mogul/entertainer/businesswoman/guru/life coach/private citizen that she is.

Obama Ya'll.. Don't hate appreciate!! frm Pensacola, Florida   December 4th, 2008 12:30 am ET

Its funny how before Obama was elected that if you were bi-racial you were considered BLACK.. but now that we have a black president.. people want to acknowledge him and others as mixed...???? We're ALL BLACK anyway.. even the blonde haired and blue eyed.... so get over yourselves.. LOSERS!! LoL =)

Susie   December 4th, 2008 12:04 am ET

Seems to me slavery ended many years ago, but a lot are still on the band wagon to use it for celebrating the victory of Obama. Oprah you you let the women down and for that I have stopped watching, buying or doing anything that would add to your bank account.

Can't stop you from being there wouldn't want to...I just hope he's everything to everyone who thinks he cab fix everything since he has a very difficult task ahead of him and nothing Oprah says or does is going to change that or make his job easier that is unless she wants to donate all her money to all the people who have lost their homes and jobs.

Seriously?   December 3rd, 2008 11:59 pm ET

As for calling Obama President Obama, nobody should have a problem with that, he is the President and regardless whether you agree with him or not, he is still your president. Funny though how people will not accord the same level of respect to President Bush. No matter how much I may disagree with President elect Obama by the end of his administration or even if I end up thinking he is an idiot, he will still be President Obama.

Seriously?   December 3rd, 2008 11:51 pm ET

Who cares what Oprah does? Funny thing, would Oprah have done this "special show" for McCain if elected? Seems like she is racist to me. But of course nobody cares about the double standard that exists in our nation so long as it fits what the majority wants. As for Ms. Winfrey being rich, congratulations, who cares. That is what comes from being hard working and being successful.

John from LA   December 3rd, 2008 11:38 pm ET

To Joann-

From your use of the word "haters" sounds like this is your first election you've been aware of or had a chance to vote in. Others like myself have voted for years-and let me tell ya babe-these comments and views are always out there when someone "new" gets into 1600 Penn. Ave. Obamabots such as yourself can't stand it when others don't like "The Messiah"

Your comments show you're a novice to the political scene-go back to your ipod and your shopping and all your other nonsense.

E.C.Coleman   December 3rd, 2008 11:37 pm ET

Oprah needs to tell Bill Richardson about WEIGHT WATCHERS.....He used to be a nice looking, clean cut guy..........but he apparently fell into a 'tamale pot' and had to 'eat his way out.......'
Good Gracious, Richardson...............get rid of that triple chin and FAST!!! Go On A Diet.............Oprah can tell you how to do it and hire your a trainer to boot!!!!

Obama will likely make a fine President. But folks, let's stop referring to him as African American. He is proud of his black heritage, but let's not forget that his father is white. So he is as white as he is black. Sorry Oprah, but you're only half way to victory on this one.

nina   December 3rd, 2008 11:14 pm ET

John,
u lucky fish!!

Dee from Rochester, NY   December 3rd, 2008 11:14 pm ET

It is so distressing that the Hillary supporters still hold on to unfounded sexist attitudes. You feminists (male and female) fought for women to women to be equals and self empowered. That meant women would have choices, yes, "choices" on a wide spectrum of choices of political candidates. The primary candidates covered the spectrum of male, female, black and white. People (men and women) chose Obama. Get real, folks. Feminists do not need to choose only women in EVERY chioce. That is what making choices is about.

Go Oprah!

Good for Oprah! She deserves to do what she wants to do. She's made her own way in life, and donates money and other good deeds to help those less fortunate. She's truly a modern-day "Mother Theresa."

How many of us are able to spend all of our day looking towards making a show that will uplift and or entertain and or enlighten a large percentage of the world's percentage. Man, it is so Oprah time. Love her or not, she does good for those who need good. We are all human. Let's just accept that condition for what it is.

Know the truth, and the truth will set you free – IF you acknowledge it and not wallow in the slime of hatred, which doesn't even rise to the level of 'pathetic!'

Oprah towers above bottom feeders who criticize rather than recognize and promote goodwill.

We as a country are beyond fortunate to have President-elect Obama waiting in the wings of a disastrously mismanaged country. May he and his well-chosen team have every success!

My thanks are to the wise recognition of Obama's character long ago! We owe her a debt of gratitude.

CT   December 3rd, 2008 11:06 pm ET

Oprah helped a lot of people who needed help; she was active during Katrina based on what I read and saw on TV, who among you is perfect out there? As she stopped supporting people who needed help? NO.
Even though if Oprah is going into politics, that will be her decision.

leanfort   December 3rd, 2008 11:05 pm ET

Would you really go out and find out what your poop should look like on your own? I doubt it. Give credit where credit is due. Oprah brings subjects to light that many of us would not bother to check on. If it doesn't float your boat, sail on. If it does, then life is good. There is no place for dissent anymore.

Oprah first came out and said why she supported Barack, coz , he the only one who was authentic and true to his message. After two years, American people saw that too...

You go Gal!

Oprah has the right to do what she wants and Ihave the right to think whatever I want about about her and thinks she is making a fool out of herself... her right to do it, my right to think she losing her professionalism. Last time I checked , this was still America. YOU get over it if you don't like it. You libs are going to have to get used to dissent. Its not racist, its patriotic.

These two folks had known each other before they got this far and I can only imagine how they feel now of their SUCCESS!

I could not understand why people are so much worried of Oprah. This is a free country. Right. So let her do what ever she is enjoy of doing. There is no doubt that it is going to be a historic event.

Larry Long   December 3rd, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Do you really think that Oprah cares what Racist individuals think of her.

Interested   December 3rd, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Not a fan of Oprah's and do not watch her show, but the comment about not renting a hall and donating the money to the homeless is plain silly and very uninformed.

She is an entertainer, talk show host and that is her job. Now you should ask all those who work to give up their wages for a certain number of hours to homeless children. I suggest you start by doing the same and not pointing fingers when you can make a difference.

I suggest you think and think hard before spreading so much rubbish.

janet, ohio   December 3rd, 2008 10:38 pm ET

I wonder whether, like the police in Denver during the DNC, the DC police force will be advised to refrain from any arrests or fines related to the possession or use of marijuana amongst the crowd during inauguration. Perhaps they could extend their leniency to cocaine?

Jo-Ann   December 3rd, 2008 10:36 pm ET

When will people just stop with all the "hate" in the blogs..

All you people with your hatefilled blogs, there is nothing you can do about it, you just sound like a bunch of disgruntled people...

Keep saying to yourselves in the mirror....PRESIDENT OBAMA... over and over again...

I WONDER WHY IN ALL THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS THERE HAS NEVER BEEN SO MUCH HATE....WHY NOW??? I AM WAITING AN ANSWER FROM YOU HATERS!!!

MAY GOD BLESS YOU PEOPLE WITH HAPPINESS IN YOUR LIVES...

cnn please post!! thank you

Phoney Express   December 3rd, 2008 10:35 pm ET

I'm not a great fan of Oprah either, however, it sounds like DC is the place to be for excitement. Even though there are some negative folk (as always) on these blogs, the positve folk are sounding off just as loud and it sounds like this country is coming together, finally.

If you don't want to go to DC....then don't. If you don't want to watch Oprah that week.....then don't. If you don't want to join the majority of Americans enjoy a little bit of history being made, excitement, then move to another country!

Face it.....we will all have 4 or 8 years of Obama's presidency....so enjoy the transparent political ride of your life along with the rest of us!!
We have never seen excitement like this ever before in an inauguration.

This country is moving forward....slowly....the wheels are finally beginning to turn. We have been in reverse mode for 8 years!

So Oprah, do your thang!

I second what "A Woman In California For Obama" said, she's still rich and all you haters out there are still ignorant.

Dorothy in NC   December 3rd, 2008 10:15 pm ET

It is so incredible that both whites and blacks put aside old ignorant stupid beliefs and voted for the best man. Why wouldn't Oprah want to go to celebrate. I would if I could. I cannot understand for the life of me why people are criticizing her so much for supporting Obama. Why wouldn't she and why is her every move under scrutiny?

Leigh   December 3rd, 2008 10:13 pm ET

I am so tired of anything that has to do with Oprah Winfrey. If there ever was a racist, then there she is. Obama would do best if he would seperate himself from her.

yellow dog democrat   December 3rd, 2008 10:09 pm ET

looking at all the different bloggers comments on all the various subjects that CNN posts – it is so sad that there is such hate and small mindness in this overwhelmingly "Christian" country of ours – perhaps that is the way it is in some of the Islamic – Muslim countries also......"enough haters and small minds to cause havoc all over the world" – some are really showing the "underbelly" of this great country. It is very nice to see positive and intelligent comments – even if they present a different view – its really all about respect....ok – continue with the madness -- its the "American way!"

deb   December 3rd, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Jeez, what a bunch of racists on this board! Why can't any of you "white" folk (by the way, I'm a 56 year old white woman) see how Oprah and millions of other African Americans are excited, to say the least, about this , yes, "historic" event!?? When Barack Obama and his lovely family walked out on that stage after the election I truly had goose bumps and was really proud to be an American! I can only imagine how African Americans must have felt. I will never forget that moment because it was truly heartwarming and wonderful. What is wrong with you people?? Quit hating for no reason! It's pathetic. Oprah has done so much good. Why can't she wallow in this for awhile??? This is a happy occasion.

ray   December 3rd, 2008 10:02 pm ET

lol wow quite interesting. What others right is left for women to have? HRC being president would not change a thing about women status in america and no one ever said obama doesnt support women rights. Oprah has done and would do more good to women in america than hillary ever would or could if she ever became president. What effect did she have on women's right as a first lady eh? give me one example. besides, oprah is not the only intelligent womam who chose obama over hillary so get over it and stop dividing this great country.

Karen Dunlap   December 3rd, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Oprah you are a so over the top with the way this world is today – spending oney like this for the average American is impossible – get a life instead of hanging onto Obama like a leech -

Yes, yes, yes!   December 3rd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

I'm not mad at ya sista girl, do your thing! Can I get a ticket?
I agree too, with her comment of how there's no other night like

James, Ho. TX   December 3rd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

It appears Oprah contnues to wet her Pants!

SLA   December 3rd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

"There's never been a night like this on planet earth...nothing can compare to this"...really? Not a single event in the history of mankind can compare to this event...really? Can I just say that is a BIT of an overstatement! Just because someone is successful doesn't mean EVERYTHING they say is true...use discretion people.

ray   December 3rd, 2008 9:50 pm ET

to Geri,

its funny how u think Oprah doesnt give to the poor. I guess you havent been living in america or u just chose to ignore the facts. where were you when her angel's network built houses in new orleans, or and donates to schools and poor families? i guess u just choose not to consider that eh . think twice before you speak and maybe u will seem less ignorant

Thanks and God Bless America

Richard   December 3rd, 2008 9:48 pm ET

Nothing like this on planet Earth? Has he forgotten Nelson Mandela being elected President of South Africa? That was historic in itself since South Africa had just ended apartied. Wake up Oprah, while this was a great moment for America, other countries did first. I voted for President-elect Obama, and think he will do a great job helping restore America to it's greatness.

Mike in Vancouver   December 3rd, 2008 9:47 pm ET

Commentator "JB" says "Other women should think before they blindly support any thing she (Oprah) does" ... TRUE, but it's much better to say 'anyone should think (period!) before blindly supporting what ANYONE does. Whether you're GOP/Dem, black/white, male/female, our higher selves call us to use our God given intellect to make sound, fair and intelligent choices ... and to not subjugate that to mere labels

Yes, yes, yes!   December 3rd, 2008 9:44 pm ET

I ain't mad at her, you go girl! Can I get a ticket?
And I too agree with her comment, that there's never been a night like the night when he won the election. It was so amazing, it was so surreal, it was so powerful and God's presence was everywhere.

Eileen   December 3rd, 2008 9:41 pm ET

Oprah and Obama make me sick. For the first time in my adult life I am not proud of my country. This is truly a national tradgedy. The media selected Obama, with no experience or accomplishments, just because he is black. What a crime against our once great country.

Lisa   December 3rd, 2008 9:40 pm ET

Wow... so many haters, Oprah could just go and enjoy it for herself, but she will bring a perspective to those who cannot attend. Thanks, Oprah... and to all those with nasty comments... how sad, i feel sorry for you.

Andrea/ CA   December 3rd, 2008 9:35 pm ET

Good for Oprah, if I had the money I would be there too, I also would donate some $ for a good cause, as Oprah did many of times. SHe has every right to feel the way she is feeling. Heck I am white and I am proud. To bad that there is still so much hate and racism going on in this world. May God Bless the president Elect and his entire cabinet, and may he forgive and bless all who left hatefull racist comments.
We need to unite and come together, after all this is the United States of America. Shame on some of you, and for the rest, good for YOU.

Albo58   December 3rd, 2008 9:33 pm ET

Oprah lost my respect when she started bankrolling "news worthy" causes outside the U.S.! If you have that kind of money to burn, then use it here in America to help America's poor. Charity starts at home!

Oh Oprah, I'm pretty sure the days when we elect a woman, a Latino, an Asian, someone of Middle-Eastern descent or a Native American to the highest office in the land will easily compare. How about someone who is openly handicapped (since most people didn't know about Roosevelt)? We still have a lot of work to do when it comes to breaking down barriers in this country.

Alas some of the comments on this board only highlight how much hate and racism President-Elect Obama has to wipe out in the coming years. If Obama was just some guy walking down the street those saying he is not Black would be the first ones to call him the N word. To all of the white women who feel cheated because Oprah endorsed Obama; get over it. I know you thought Oprah was going to lead the next Crusade and get a White woman(obviously it doesn't matter who because you'd take Hillary or Palin as long as they're white) into the White House but she voted her conscience and not your wants. Maybe you thought all of your money spent following her put her in debt to you. Think again!! In the end the comments on this board and many others like it only show that alot of the white population is never going to rid itself of the racist poison that flows through their veins.

cindy   December 3rd, 2008 9:15 pm ET

God bless Oprah. hey Oprah's haters she is a human being like all of you.Her candidate won period. speaking of giving that money to homeless or helping Brad Pitt in new orleans.Brad is doing what Oprah did long time ago. michelle i would watch out. this big cow is so on your husband i think she really wants to undress him, jump him, and ride on top of him for all he is worth. Barry's dad was black and his mom was white. Barry spent very very little time with his dad and most of his life was around his mom, so yes in fact he is barely what you could call a true proper black man. he is very much white. just watch when all this crumbles and we have to deal with this horrible president. he will be a horrible president. all you that love him, you don't even know who he is cause the press never vetted him. we all have no clue who this man really is. he already took in old time washington insiders for his team and preached changed. watch what happens american. this man is going to be a rotten uselss president. all he has is his big stupid month and a waddler in a moo moo who supports him. Obama voters, your all useless morons.

Dave   December 3rd, 2008 9:10 pm ET

Who cares? Oprah is just a rascist who supports Obama because she likes the color of his skin. It's a sad commentary on America that so many people look up to her. Hopefully someday we can get past all rascism. And for anyone who is wondering, yes I voted for Obama.

Stephen   December 3rd, 2008 8:58 pm ET

The sad part about most of the bloggers here who have expressed negative comments about Oprah's support of Obama is that if she were a Black female on welfare they would still have something negative to say. So, the truth is that here you have a successful Black female (a self made multi-millionaire) supporting a successful highly educated Bi-racial male (he is Black and White) and instead of celebrating their successes, simply because they are both known as Black, the only thing you can say is still something negative. I believe Oprah has the right to support whomever she wants to support. Oprah's show can go off the air tomorrow and she'll still be more successful financially than the majority of people posting the negative tacky comments on this blog. I learned a long time ago that people who are inferior always had to feel that there is someone beneath them. That's why my Black parents (yes I had a mother and a father in my household) taught me to "let my haters be my motivators".

So...yes even in 2008 racism is still alive and well in America. Just ask the GOP who tried all the diversive tactics imaginable (code words and inneundo) during the election this year.

Erika, KS   December 3rd, 2008 8:55 pm ET

Oprah should just shut the hell up. I'm sick of her. Apparently, she just can't get enough of herself. There's a reason I haven't watched her show: big old fat broad yelling and carrying on. It gets ratings, I guess, but who cares what she has to say? She's nothing more than another black person who stabbed the Clinton's in the back for Obama. Get lost Oprah.

The Lady   December 3rd, 2008 8:46 pm ET

For all of you hating because Oprah endorsed Obama who are you to tell her who to vote for? Oprah has a right to vote for whom ever she choses just as you do. I am sure you would not want me telling you who to vote for!!

crissy   December 3rd, 2008 8:43 pm ET

UNBELIEVEABLE. Where is all this Oprah hate coming from? What has she done? O yeah, she endorsed a candidate who happened to win the election. And she is HAPPY about it. Oh my God, she is a racist. People get over yourselves. If she wants to use her well earned empire to express that happiness who are you to judge? One more thing, Obama is black because society says if you have black blood you are black, regardless if your blood is mixed with any other blood. Stop HATING.

ck   December 3rd, 2008 8:43 pm ET

geez, Oparah is still on TV????

The Lady   December 3rd, 2008 8:42 pm ET

I wish I could be there.

JB   December 3rd, 2008 8:38 pm ET

In the early years women were Oprah's bread and butter. When she got all the bread and butter that she needed, and when women needed her most, to support our rights, she supports Obama over a woman , Clinton, don't let it be said it was an issue difference because there was little difference in either candidate. Never before had she came out for a politician. For years she preached on empowerment of women and turns around and gives the movement a swift sharp kick. There are many things about her show, angel network, book club , donations to other countries that are very one sided. I for one am no longer a fan and could care less where she'll be on the inaugural day or the days after that. Other women should think before they blindly support any thing she does.

Geri   December 3rd, 2008 8:36 pm ET

CNN.....where's my comment????

judy d   December 3rd, 2008 8:35 pm ET

stay home Ophah

Geri   December 3rd, 2008 8:32 pm ET

Rather than rent out the building for an ungodly price, why doesn't she take that money and donate it to all the homeless in DC or feeding the hungry??? She's got more than enough money than she'll ever be able to use or why doesn't she donate more to Brad Pitts project in New Orleans. Lets get real, she wants a steady invitation to the White House. Maybe she'll be the Monica Lewinsky of the Obama administration since she thinks they both walk on water. Poor Michelle.

no bailouts   December 3rd, 2008 8:32 pm ET

we should have so much pride in our choice for this election, it's one of the greatest moments in our life time. God bless oprah, and all our elected officials.

Flash Gorden /-\   December 3rd, 2008 8:28 pm ET

I guess some people on here are not happy unless they cut other people down to make their dull, miserable lives seem better. Not gonna p on my parade. You people woller in your nasty comments. I for one will proceed to HELP this country pull itself back from the brink of disaster. (As if it is not already there...) GOD bless America and I hope everyone enjoys some solitude and love this holiday season.

Ann   December 3rd, 2008 8:26 pm ET

This horrible woman again..

Hankers   December 3rd, 2008 8:26 pm ET

Opra: "there’s never been a night like this on the planet earth…" I think either an exageration or a bit of black narisisism.... but that's OK too.

Meh   December 3rd, 2008 8:22 pm ET

As annoying as Oprah can be sometimes, you have to give her props. She was dirt poor growing up and now she's the wealthiest woman in America, all on her own merit and smarts. Good for her!

Ivory Baker   December 3rd, 2008 8:15 pm ET

I understand Oprah's enthusiasm and genuine pride in President-elect Obama's history breaking accomplishments. I too would want to celebrate a validation of the worth of African Americans' achievements in and for our Great Nation. Obama stands on the shoulders of some of the greats, including Oprah. Too Oprah, way to go. I wish you a great week of celebrations.

Missouri   December 3rd, 2008 8:14 pm ET

I think it couldn't be more wonderful, Oprah!!! If I could afford to be there I would be there with you. We will be watching!!! I watched the uglyness of the 50's and 60's, and that is nothing like what generations of families went through before that. I am white and 60 years old and I celebrate this for all of us!!

Have fun and God Bless!

BROOKLYN   December 3rd, 2008 8:14 pm ET

And she did not have her own agenda?

Really, who cares...

Patricia in Las Vegas   December 3rd, 2008 8:11 pm ET

Oprah is an amazing woman who has been greatly successful. She gives back to the community. What is wrong with you people? You hate folks who come from humble beginnings and achieve what comes from talent and drive? Get over it!

chuck   December 3rd, 2008 8:10 pm ET

MONEY RULES THE WORLD. WAY TO GO OPRAH.LET'S ALL ENJOY THIS ONE IN HISTORY.

kaTE   December 3rd, 2008 8:05 pm ET

D.C. is going to be crazy fun that whole week! I'd give a lot to be there, but flights are ridiculously expensive. Luckily, there'll be great TV coverage of the entire 20th!

Gaylon Barrow   December 3rd, 2008 8:03 pm ET

Oprah has ripped her britches with a lot of folk. The only thing I can say that is good about her traitorship to Hillary. Is we won't have to put up with her but a few more years before her so-called empire falls into crumbs.

Smart Move   December 3rd, 2008 8:03 pm ET

Right...I`m really interested in what a racist biased moron is doing? I`ll only be interested if she`s screwing up her show so bad enough to get it cancelled-and then I`ll be ecastic.

Kay   December 3rd, 2008 8:03 pm ET

Anyone who thinks racism is dead need only read some of the posts on these blogs. Hate is alive and well!

And I wonder if Oprah was to have you on one of her give away shows or offer to redo your house would your hate prevent you from taking her money. I doubt it! Funny how people's staunch principles somehow disappear when money is invoved.

tom, valley forge, PA   December 3rd, 2008 8:02 pm ET

Oprah= rascist

Howard Roark   December 3rd, 2008 7:58 pm ET

A transition team loaded with lobbyists, and a cabinet loaded with entrenched Washington politicians…yep, change you can believe in.

SYoung   December 3rd, 2008 7:57 pm ET

HISTORICAL??? Why because we have elected the 1st. mixed- race President...Everyone says don't bring race into this but it seems that is the leading factor in all this. No other President has gotten this much attention ever & I'm sorry but so far he has done nothing to prove it is deserved. I still would like someone to explain to me how he is the 1st. black President. He is MIXED-RACED! In my opinion there is nothing more historical here than the election of a new President. Eventhough I have read & heard many compare him to everyone from Kennedy to Jesus...he so far has proven nothing but his ability to be a great speaker & mesmerize people into drinking the OBAMA kool-aid...and raising enough money to BUY the White House. As my Grandmother use to say...The proof is in the pudding & Obama hasn't even made it to the kitchen yet. The blacks want to fall all over themselves about finally having a black President...the simple fact is that he isn't black.

Lilarose in Bandon, Oregon   December 3rd, 2008 7:52 pm ET

As a woman who has African-American-Anglo children in my family, I am still very much perplexed as to why President-elect Obama refuses to acknowledge that he is HALF Caucasian.

It is true, his presidency will be historic.....for an African-Anglo/Caucasian American man.

No Hillary = No Obama   December 3rd, 2008 7:50 pm ET

What's the definition of racist? Not giving equal time to a white VP candidate, not endorsing a white woman for President, exclusively promoting a Black candidate? Yep, that's one definition.

Peter (CA)   December 3rd, 2008 7:50 pm ET

Huge Obama supporter...but man, I can't stand Oprah.
Frankly, I think her speech about him being "The One" was something that gave the right wing all kinds of momentum in focusing on personality issues and not on economic issues.

A little subtlety would go a long way, O.

Oprah had a better night---   December 3rd, 2008 7:47 pm ET

That was the night she brought out 70 lbs. of fat in a plastic bag to show how much weight she lost. Now she's a fat tub again wearing moo-moo dresses. Can't wait to see her waddle up on the stage.

no bailouts   December 3rd, 2008 7:44 pm ET

i love oprah.

Paul Lennon   December 3rd, 2008 7:44 pm ET

Maybe Obama should make Winfrey the driver..
Who care's.
I guess she doesn't get enough attention from all her talk show groupies, she now has to hang around politics.
The sad part is our new president is letting her.

nate   December 3rd, 2008 7:43 pm ET

Let's pray for obama's safety please!!! I ask every believer to fast the day before!!!!

annie - Palin 2012   December 3rd, 2008 7:39 pm ET

There is really nothing more disgusting than opie wimpieunless it is little rich boy billy gates who wants to play god.

nganenu   December 3rd, 2008 7:35 pm ET

Dear Oprah, Sister. thank you so much I wish i could be there with to mark history my own way. It is really more than that. it is breaking the close doors to the race. God bless you
nganenu

Barbara Moses   December 3rd, 2008 7:34 pm ET

I'll be there too! So how do you get tickets to the Oprah Show. I am a former Chicagoan born and raised now Florida resident....driving to DCA! THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE..........

kaneda   December 3rd, 2008 7:34 pm ET

Annoying! Thank god, I never watch her show!

henry   December 3rd, 2008 7:33 pm ET

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah........
Go OprahBama!

jean   December 3rd, 2008 7:30 pm ET

Oprah was demonized for endorsing Obama.
O &O have been friends for a long time. Who would blame her after being of an African American slave decendant?

Lets stop being hypocritical.

It's time to put racism behind us and rise like the nation!

Voter   December 3rd, 2008 7:30 pm ET

WHO CARES?

ann   December 3rd, 2008 7:23 pm ET

Go Oprah go!

Wish you are in Obama's cabinet. It's good you lived live and well to see this day......
It was long coming....

bob   December 3rd, 2008 7:22 pm ET

Good for her!

Godluvr   December 3rd, 2008 7:15 pm ET

Thank you Oprah, for standing by our man, now President-Elect Obama!

You were very instrumental in causing many Americans to take a more serious look at this wonderful man!

I look forward to your great shows and excellent photos from DC -Obama/Biden Country!

God bless and protect him and his family, VP and his family, Cabinet and staff members!

God, please continue to bless and protect America and the world!

LIGHT of the world, shine on/in US!

Watching....   December 3rd, 2008 7:14 pm ET

Figures.....

A Woman In California For Obama   December 3rd, 2008 7:13 pm ET

Thank you Ms. Winfrey as I too will be watching both of you and smiling.

Now let the ignorant comments begin....when you finish she will STILL be rich and you will STILL be ignorant.

SmithonPolitics   December 3rd, 2008 7:03 pm ET

Awesome. Should be a great episode.

N. S. Huntsville, Al   December 3rd, 2008 7:03 pm ET

That's right OPRAH tell it like it is. Stand up for Obama and what you believe!!! And to hell with all the haters that have a problem with Oprah doing her own thing and the way she wants to do it! Hell she is the Head person in charge of her own show.
