My take: Both are right. It would be an abnormally awkward moment to have her on the show. Oprah would have been CAVING to the republican base and compromising her integrity if she had her on the show.

It seems unreasonable that Oprah could feel slighted by Sarah Palin now, after Oprah would not allow her on her show during election season (I hope you remember that too!) Going on the show now doesn't help Gov. This is a 24/7 job that will never "pay" enough monetarily. "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" and sadly enough our children are repeating the same hate filled comments in our schools.
REAL Americans will help educators teach children good citizenship, as will true believers in the Almighty and non-believers. Great citizens of this GREAT nation will band together and refrain from hate mongering and name calling to make their point. As I read these "comments" I wondered if each person could look in the mirror and be PROUD to teach children what they said in their comment. I can.

I'll always remember, years ago, when Oprah featured Gore and Bush on seperate shows. She was warm and wonderful to Gore, mouthing "vote for him" at the end of the show. She was horrible to Bush–cold, all but outright rude. I was disgusted with her and haven't watched much of her show since. Oprah's anything but fair and balanced.

I have managed to stay away from all the blogs since the election was over. I decide to come to the ticker and all I see is the same bunch of right-wing, completely irrational, nasty, comments I saw before the election.

All the people trashing Oprah need to get a life. Oprah is someone who came from nothing. NOTHING! But, she used her brain, unlike your beloved Palin and made something of herself not by her looks or her trash talk but by hard work and by trying to help people.

I will never forget being 12 years old and watching an Oprah show in which they were discussing sexual abuse and realizing that what had happened to me as a young child was wrong. That was back when people didn't talk about those things. But, Oprah had the guts to do it. That show changed my life. I can guarantee you that there are millions of people who's lives have been changed because of Oprah's advocacy work including sexual abuse victims.

What does your beloved Palin do but use her poor child as a campaign prop to score political points. I never heard of any groups for the mentally disabled that she's working with have you?

First of all what's so great about Oprah. She is a very rich black woman that's about it. As far as Palin, she should have been the turkey for someone on thanksgiving, and Van something should have been talking to a turkey. It's unfortunate to read a lot of negative postings about one of America most beloved and adored personalities. Ms. Winfrey endorsed President-elect Obama in 2006 during her appearance on Larry King Live. Shortly after that, she made the decision not to allow any of the candidates on her show until after the election. Governor Palin selection as VP candidate did not change that and should not have changed the decision because Ms. Winfrey is a woman of her words. And now the election is over, Governor Palin is invited to Oprah Show. It's now up to Governor Palin if she wants to come to the show. And by the way, Ms. Winfrey does not need Governor Palin or any of us, remember she is a Billionaire.

Secondly, when Ms. Winfrey said that "there are not even words to talk about what this night means,” and "there’s never been a night like this on the planet earth… Nothing can compare to this,” what she meant was that the inuaguration night is going to be historic, monumental and ground-breaking. She spoke from an African American perspective. Some of us who are whites, need to sometimes put ourselves in non-white people's shoes instead of critizing them.

Ms. Winfrey endorsed President-elect Obama in 2006 during her appearance on Larry King Live. Shortly after that, she made the decision not to allow any of the candidates on her show until after the election. Governor Palin selection as VP candidate did not change that and should not have changed the decision because Ms. Winfrey is a woman of her words. And now the election is over, Governor Palin is invited to Oprah Show. Is now up to Governor Palin if she wants to come to the show. And by the way, Ms. Winfrey does not need Governor Palin or any of us, remember she is a Billionaire.

Secondly, when Ms. Winfrey said that "there are not even words to talk about what this night means,” and "there’s never been a night like this on the planet earth… Nothing can compare to this,” what she meant was that the inuaguration night is going to be historic, monumental and ground-breaking. Sarah Palin is a governor. She was away for the months of the campaign and has to get her budget ready, dealing with the drop in oil prices - a big deal for Alaskans.

She hasn't gone on anybody's show. She's been interviewed at her house, sat down at the Republican Governor's convention for a couple of interviews and done some remote hookups. Other than a day of campaigning for Chambliss, she's been pretty much busy.

I doubt Oprah wants to move her show to Palin's living room so that she can hold it while Palin perpares the family dinner like Greta did. Palin has many many requests for interviews, she has to pace herself.

That last quote is what scares me about Obama (and I voted for him). The other day I watched a Frontline episode that showed Kenyan reactions to Obama – and it was madness. There was a school that had been renamed "Obama School" with giant murals of him on the wall. The principle was certain that, should Obama win, he would help her school!!! There was a bus driver with the Obama bus. Countless babies named Barak Obama. Etc.

Obviously, Mr. Obama can't control this. But it creeps me out. So Oprah truly believes that this is the ultimate night planet earth has ever seen? I don't even know where to begin. Of course it's an historic night, one of the most historic in our nation's (short) history. But no other night on earth, no other political, cultural, religious, or even environmental event can possibly rival Mr. Obama's inauguration?

But during the election I would have hoped she would have set politics aside and interview Sarah Palin for what she has accomplished as a mother and woman – the very thing Oprah has been advocating for years. Point 1 – If you listen to what Oprah said – she did invite Palin to her show. Palin chose not to participate, not the other way around. No harm no foul. Oprah was being fair and balanced. Palin was exercising her right to select / chose her own next PR move.

Palin didn't want to do an interview with Oprah because she wanted to target an audience that would understand her shallow mindedness. Oprah's viewers are well educated and smart women hence Palin was not comfortable.

To say that Oprah didn't want to interview Palin during the campaign............well, did she interview the Obamas or Bidens during the campaign? Of course not, she made it clear that she didn't want to use her show as platform for the campaign.

Now, just because she is successful and famous doesn't mean she can't support a candidate of her choosing outside of her show. If there is a loser in this story, its Palin, Oprah would have introduced her to a whole new demographic that's a complete opposite from the extreme religious wingnuts she identifies with.

I don't care much about Oprah. I've never watched her show. Her self-gratifying show and magazine seem pretty rediculous to me. That being said, why does she care about Palin? She had Obama on her show BEFORE the presidential campaign NOT DURING the campaign. All of you would have a legitimate criticism if she had Obama on during the campaign. Per Oprah, there's never been a moment as grand as Obama being elected? For me, the birth of Jesus Christ tops them all. One should be magnanimous in victory......although it seemed that on every front, the GOP has tried to come out of this heated presidential election bitter and angry and has never learned their lessons well (except maybe for their GOP standard-bearer, who showed that he was really an Officer and a Gentleman, bless him!), the rest of them still cultivates in their hearts and minds and in the hearts and minds of their constituents the "holier-than-thou", "i am better than you", ultra-conservative views of the twisted, corrupted and most defiled white immigrant mind who can not accept a president who has a different color than their skin - and that is the most basic issue that we all have to contend with, no matter how they will cover this up with other lame issues. The truth of the matter is, we have President Obama as our 44th president and he has at least 4 years to prove his worth to all of us so let us give him a chance and not foretell what will happen to us even before it happens.
Whether or not Palin will show up in Oprah is beyond the point.....we have to move on....Oprah, your show will be TOPS no matter who you guest in it!

I agree that Obama's election is historic and a wonderful moment in American history, but I'm a bit miffed by Oprah's quote "there’s never been a night like this on the planet earth… Nothing can compare to this.” I have a feeling that countries who have elected black leaders would disagree that "there's never been a night like this on planet earth." There are many countries that have overcome the issue of slavery to elect black leaders. Haiti for example, elected its first black president long before America even ended slavery - and there are lots of other examples.

Without a gun in her hand and a moose in her sight (from a helicopter of course, she would never actually FACE anything, a question or a wild animal), she is a know-nothing tool, and her time in the spotlight is over already...she's not worthy of appearing on Oprah!

I never listen to anything Sarah Palin guests on. I would have watched her with Oprah, because it would have been interesting to see if she could keep up a decent conversation with a natural woman.

For A Woman In California For Obama: What inside information do you have that you can call the Palin children uneducated? Do you have their report cards, letters from their teachers or other documentation. Before you make such a statement make sure that you can back up your allegation. Looking at the Palin children, unless you prove me wrong, they don't look uneducated.
