More spending on Palin revealed

Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.
Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican National Committee's total fashion bill for Sarah Palin's nine-week stint on the GOP presidential ticket is in: $180,000.

That's $30,000 more than the RNC previously disclosed it had spent outfitting and styling the Alaska governor and her family, according to Politico and the RNC's latest filings with the Federal Elections Commission.

The latest filing, which includes the final 3 weeks of the presidential race, shows the committee directed close to $55,000 to Palin's fashion stylist, New York-based Lisa Kline.

The RNC also spent close to $24,000 in several high end stores, including Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Neiman's, Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks, Target, and Victoria's Secret.

The RNC has said all the clothes purchased will be donated to charity.

Meanwhile, the McCain campaign paid a total of $110,000 on Palin's traveling hair and makeup stylists, according to the New York Times and the McCain campaign's latest FEC filing.

News surfaced shortly before Election Day that Republicans had shelled out more than $150,00 on Palin and her family in clothing costs - a revelation that posed an unnecessary distraction for the struggling McCain campaign, and undercut Palin's hockey-mom credentials.

@Brian, As far as I've read Obama's suits wre paid by himself. And Biden's hair whoever paid for it isn't enough to rack up a too high bill. The question about Palin's dressing bill is more that it shows what the lady is like... startstruck, is a charitable word, maybe all the attention went to her head and brought out the adolescent in her out on a spree with dady's money. Very presidential...

Actually it looks as if she ought to hang on to those clothes. CNN is forever bringing up the subject of Palin for 2012. It's sad (though I don't really mind) that Republicans can't come up with a more intelligent person. Even more sad that she doesn't seem to realize she has a lot of work ahead if she wants to mingle with bright, educated, grown-up people and come out alive.

I am so sick of hearing about this lame person.
The republicans are liars and hypocrites!
I am so glad they are gone.
Might I suggest some birth control for her and her daughter.

Her $180K of spending spree shows how manipulative the Republican Party could be . Pulin does not have the wisdom to win the voters' heart. Adding the extra window-dressing stuff did not disguise her lack of experience and intelligence. I am so thrilled to have switched party in my vote or else this country will have to deal with such a marginal VP and perhaps an incompetent Commander-in-chief potentially. Pulin is in the same league as Bush and Quail. Same on her and the one who selected her.

Did you noticed she was still wearing those high end clothing, Charity My Foot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and she is still on the band wagon with no regards to the fact that amount was spent on family and self. the next selected person last question should be " what is in your closet". That amount of money could have been spent on some thing more important than clothes, hair and make-up. all that let me know the hill-billies did not have anything to start with ( even underclothing) can the make-up and hair stuff be donated to charity or is sara palin consider "charity"

and... during these last weeks S. Palin walked around and kept saying that she was wearing her "OWN" clothes. I still cannot understand the support this woman continues to receive from the Republicans and how people still want her to run in the future for office. She has no morals, no brains, and no ethics. Obviously she was just out for herself and how good she looked. As governor of Alaska she could not have been making too low of a salary and could have worn her own clothes. Any other "Joe 6Pack and Hockey-Mom" would have... You betcha S. Palin couldn't though. It had to be the best for her or nothing else. I will always think of her as a fraud and will keep laughing when I hear Republicans defending her.

Why is the" First Dude" buying his underwear form Victoria's Secret? But then again, why not. It could come in handy during those long stopovers at Minneapolis airport.

I understand charity can sell most of the clothes, but what are going to do with the Victoria's Secrets....

Now that we know that she's well dressed, I'd like to know who's minding the store? Oil prices are falling and Alaska needs a governor who is working, not plane hopping and shopping. Get home and get to work. That's what you were elected for.

    Hello, you leftist zombies.

I dont care if 25 MILLION DOLLARS WAS SPENT because it was ALL PRIVATE DONATIONS AND NOT TAXD0LLARS! It all came from private citizens and businesses you morons so it does not matter.

The taxpayers were spared and did not pay a single, rusted penny on her clothes.

Your hypocrisy wreaks as your breath, you can only state these pointless comments and NOT wonder where did $700 MILLION DOLLARS ORIGINATE for this NON-CITIZEN Obama who is awaiting to destroy this nation!

Here is a REAL ISSUE and question.......WHEN WILL OBAMA PRODUCE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND STOP HIS DELAYS!?!?!

McCain should be our president now and we would have a guy who would make us oil independent from the muslim nations, instill low taxes, operate business friendly, and NOT take my money and give it to some bum sitting at home refusing to work.

With all that money spent on stylists and Victoria's Secret, she might want to reconsider her career path. There are other careers for beautiful women where people would LOVE to throw their Benjamins at...$$$ – both democrats and republicans... :)

I really do not care about hearing about Palin any more and it is ridiculous to waste any time or energy talking about her in 2012. We need to get down to business and take care of our country, our families, and the economy. Palin is so starved for attention. We have elected a president and the people have voted. Enough already. Palin, go back to work and do something useful as governor.

Doesn't matter who they are donated to.

Money could have been spent on something else more productive.

    It's a shame.
