More spending on Palin revealed

Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.
Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican National Committee's total fashion bill for Sarah Palin's nine-week stint on the GOP presidential ticket is in: $180,000.

That's $30,000 more than the RNC previously disclosed it had spent outfitting and styling the Alaska governor and her family, according to Politico and the RNC's latest filings with the Federal Elections Commission.

The latest filing, which includes the final 3 weeks of the presidential race, shows the committee directed close to $55,000 to Palin's fashion stylist, New York-based Lisa Kline.

The RNC also spent close to $24,000 in several high end stores, including Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Neiman's, Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks, Target, and Victoria's Secret.

The RNC has said all the clothes purchased will be donated to charity.

Meanwhile, the McCain campaign paid a total of $110,000 on Palin's traveling hair and makeup stylists, according to the New York Times and the McCain campaign's latest FEC filing.

News surfaced shortly before Election Day that Republicans had shelled out more than $150,00 on Palin and her family in clothing costs - a revelation that posed an unnecessary distraction for the struggling McCain campaign, and undercut Palin's hockey-mom credentials.

Why is this always about what the RNC spent? What about what the Dem's spent? This is so childish and ridiculous, it isn't even worth being on the front page. That dress that Mrs. Obama wore the night of the election was a very expensive designer dress (it's a shame it looked horrible, like a black widow spider, very poor taste!)

If you are going to report what one party spent, why not report what the other party spent? If this is what the American people really want to see on the front page of the news, how sad.

I am sure the 180K was spent on the entire campaign's staff attire. No one person can be so selfish.

Exactly why is this important? This is another example of the left wing media making an issue of nothing. is this really important or an attempt to try to keep the republicans at bay? There are much more important things going on in the world. CNN has become a tabloid, admit it.

Palins fashion bill didn't skyrocket as much as CNN's sensationalizing journalism is skyrocketing. CNN, please give the negative reporting on Palin a rest and find stories to report on that matter. Everyone is well aware that you've done (and continue to do) all you can do to discredit her; fortunately there are millions of American who are well educated and can see through your liberal reporting.

B fountain, Obviously you haven't been shopping at the Salvation Army stores. I just bought a cashmere sweater there. Honest. They sell a lot of top end clothes. You have to go often enough to get the best deals.

I agree that no one needs to spend that much on clothes but even with $180K worth of clothes she's still a brainless airhead...

Sarah Palin is a part time Govenor, How can Alaska buisness being taken care of if she prancing around the country at every speak -easy
not to mention what kind of parent she is. If Ameria was to be governed by her , it would be part time whule she purssued some other kind of interest, She is star struck, and easily distracted. she is not focused just star struck fom a fame she did not recieve when she was young. i cannot eat her fame nor I survive to pay my bilss from some one who is out of touch with real women. 1. a real woman would not scacrifice her family for fame, If she did she would have to realize that there wil be a penalty to pay. So if she represented a real togher woman who represents she would be home and at her job instead of running from pilow to post for a little bit of fame. Raising children is suppose to be your glory as a mom. She has just bought women who work down a notch or to.

Are you kidding me that we are still talking about this?!!? Do we really care what that spend on Palin's clothes, make-up ,etc.?? I know I do not. She needed it to be on the road - I don't even know why they would let her keep it - unbelievable. Talk about something important.

I'm with steve... "you call this journalism?" I call it propaganda. What's the diff between the cost of Obama's greek columns at the DNC and Palin's wardrobe?

One thing this article does not mention is that this was all paid for by the taxpayers – aka public financing. So, nearly $190,000 dollars worth of high-end clothing bought with tax-payer money just to be given away. Was this some kind of odd economic stimulus package for shoppers of Goodwill and Salvation Army stores?

"Big deal. How much did Obama spend on his suits or Michelle's duds? Puhleese. Obama would agree this whole wardrobe thing is totally inane. $180,000? A drop in the bucket.
Palin is tough. Astute. Honing those political skills. Say what you want – laugh if you will. But Sarah is taking some $$$ to the bank.
    She'll be back."

You are kidding, right? If Palin has an IQ above room temperature in Fairbanks, that would be amazing. She is like herpes – the gift that keeps on giving. After hearing her speak, I think her primary language is not English. Enough of this moron. Bobby Jindhal is the Republican's best 2012 candidate.
