More spending on Palin revealed

Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.
Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican National Committee's total fashion bill for Sarah Palin's nine-week stint on the GOP presidential ticket is in: $180,000.

That's $30,000 more than the RNC previously disclosed it had spent outfitting and styling the Alaska governor and her family, according to Politico and the RNC's latest filings with the Federal Elections Commission.

The latest filing, which includes the final 3 weeks of the presidential race, shows the committee directed close to $55,000 to Palin's fashion stylist, New York-based Lisa Kline.

The RNC also spent close to $24,000 in several high end stores, including Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Neiman's, Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks, Target, and Victoria's Secret.

The RNC has said all the clothes purchased will be donated to charity.

Meanwhile, the McCain campaign paid a total of $110,000 on Palin's traveling hair and makeup stylists, according to the New York Times and the McCain campaign's latest FEC filing.

News surfaced shortly before Election Day that Republicans had shelled out more than $150,00 on Palin and her family in clothing costs - a revelation that posed an unnecessary distraction for the struggling McCain campaign, and undercut Palin's hockey-mom credentials.

No one cares, stop putting Sarah Palin on the front page! You are aware she lost, correct? There are far more pressing issues in this country than what Sarah Palin wore three months ago.

Why in heaven's name is Palin still being talked about?! She's an idiot who now just because she says she's donating her clothes to charity she can now wear a hypocritical shawl around her shoulders as a garment to get into Heaven. If she does run for the presidency in 2012 the Country is in for the biggest fall in history. Enough already. Let her get back to hunting animals that do not defend themselves and let her brag about this thing. The "Joe the Plumber" bit was too painful to hear....

I would really like to know if you could get an honest estimate of Obama's clothes.
I think so many are just envious.I like her.She is not afraid to tell what she believes in.We need more people to stand for families and truth...

Julius equals Idiot................ I gave freely to help Obama become president. If you were smart enough to read big guy you would know a donor from the RNC was the one that offered to front Palin some money for a few outfits for the convention and the first few appearances. He planned on $25,000 -30,000 and was floored when he got the bill.

    Sarah Palin is a joke.

Obama is a US citizen. Get over it Julius

Palin is the one whose hubby wants to Succeed from the US

Wake up Republicans...have you heard that 530,000 people were laid off from their jobs? What you heard that unemployment is 6.3%? Have you heard that the auto makers may go bankrupt and send another million people to the unemployment lines? Have you heard that the food banks are empty? Have you heard that there are more people getting food stamps because they are out of work? Have you heard how many families are now in the bankruptcy courts? And have you heard about the foreclosure on more homes than you can count?

And you have the gall to spend $180,000 on this bimbo who can't even make a sentence when she talks....you had better be ashamed of yourselves and start cleaning house.

Perhaps it took that much to accomplish the job and overshadow her lack of intelligence with regards to almost everything.

CNN might make a point of mentioning that the clothes HAVE To be donated to charity now. A candidate cannot keep items purchased by campaign donations for personal use. Those would be considered donations to the person rather than the campaign and therefore bribes.

It has been a month, have any of Palin's clothes purchased by the RNC actually been delivered to any charities?

  11. Get Serious

Palin has overstayed her 15 minutes of fame by well over 14 minutes. She came into the national limelight as an unfortunate expression of political expediency. What has since happened just validates why McCain-Palin was doomed from day 1. Palin may be a fine governor of Alaska, but she was simply way over her head on the national stage. If the movie, "True Colors," was more or less about Clinton, the Palin sequel, "True Blunders" would again affirm why sequels are not as good as the original. America and its people are in serious economic pain; the world is in turmoil. We all need to move on to more serious topics and debate to find the best solutions. It's time for Sara's push-up and Todd's thong to move to a quirky corner in the dustbin of history?

this is nothing new. Hilliary paid $1,500.00 to have her hair cut during her senate race andcharged it to her campaing. Only difference is the media is trying to destroy the woman because the veiw her as a threat to the Democrat party

Too bad McCain didn't pick Guiliani as his VP candidate .... The Victoria's Secret bill would have been considerably higher.

Donating them to charity........ Yep a homeless person freezing to death will feel much better knowing shes wearing a Nieman Marcus suit......... Its like the people I know who went to a food shelter and received a box of toiletries like hair gel and VAGISAL rather than food......... This Palin is a bimbo if she was homely she would not be a celebrity. The people who worship her are akin to those who love the Paris Hiltons and Britney Spears..........

Why didnt the RNC auction off the clothes. I went to a Oprah Winfrey auction she had clothes she had worn once or twice from size 10-20. ( she grows big and then smaller) We bid on the clothes I got a lovely suit for 250 she paid $2500 for her suits........ and the money went to a local charity to help homeless and abused women and kids.

To just stuff these clothes in a goodwill box is as nutty as the hungry family getting acne cream and the vagisal

Olivia yes auction them with all the rabid palin nuts who really dont know why shes qualified they would buy her clothes then the money could go to a food pantry or homeless shelter.

she was not campaigning but she was doing a fashion show...i would not have been surprised to see her in minis/bikinis during the campaign....she does not know politics but she knows modeling, i think world of fashion rather than politics suits her...;D

I agree....I have been a lifelong Republican, as were my parents, but Sarah Palin as a credible candidate for anything goes against everything that I believe in and that this country stands for........for $180,000, one could teach my dogs more (and make them look as good as) this moron has ever learned. I fear for a world in which Palin has any power!

and sarah palin believes this is OK. may we all remember this hubris if/when she runs in 2012. a lot can happen between now and then (thank god)! i don't pay attention to what the media or the republicans think or postualte any more. they can drag her into any situation they want (and she agrees because she is desperate for attention). i cna think on my own – and that is what i will pay attention to! i hope you find your courage too...
