More spending on Palin revealed

Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.
Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican National Committee's total fashion bill for Sarah Palin's nine-week stint on the GOP presidential ticket is in: $180,000.

That's $30,000 more than the RNC previously disclosed it had spent outfitting and styling the Alaska governor and her family, according to Politico and the RNC's latest filings with the Federal Elections Commission.

The latest filing, which includes the final 3 weeks of the presidential race, shows the committee directed close to $55,000 to Palin's fashion stylist, New York-based Lisa Kline.

The RNC also spent close to $24,000 in several high end stores, including Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Neiman's, Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks, Target, and Victoria's Secret.

The RNC has said all the clothes purchased will be donated to charity.

Meanwhile, the McCain campaign paid a total of $110,000 on Palin's traveling hair and makeup stylists, according to the New York Times and the McCain campaign's latest FEC filing.

News surfaced shortly before Election Day that Republicans had shelled out more than $150,00 on Palin and her family in clothing costs - a revelation that posed an unnecessary distraction for the struggling McCain campaign, and undercut Palin's hockey-mom credentials.

So she was getting her hair styled and make done while lying about the money being spent. Some of the cost were incurred after the $150K spending spree was incurred.

Hate Sarah Palin? What's to like about her? Hunting from aircraft? Her ignorance of the Constitution and US history? Her take no prisoners attitude? Her appeal to the basest impulses of her red meat fans? Her ethics as governor of Alaka? Her belief that the Last Judgment will come in her lifetime (maybe in the form of a nuclear holocaust)?

Ok allright, allready. Let's leave Sarah & family alone now. She was McCain's puppet – can't you people see that? All the lies she spewed was because McCain & his angry old crew set her up to say what she did.

In Alaska all she needs all her mukluks and parkas. In the lower 48 – we dress for all climates and so she wasn't prepared and to make her look "stylish" the money had to be spent. Wasn't my $$ – I'm not a Republican and didn't donate to the RNC.

As for how much President-elect Obama pays for his inaugurations – that goes with the territory. Bush got it twice and ya know – it's getting more and more expensive to live these days with prices going up.

Let's just hope the next year will get this country back on the road again. Bush obviously can't wait to get to Dallas. (Oh George, beware of the Dixie Chicks – don't think they'll be happy you're back in their state!)

  6. Palin is a disgrace to women

You can dress up a pig but it is still a pig......

Huckabee and Palin? Are you kidding? The Republicans still don't get it. These are the exact type of people Americans rejected. Palin is just plain stupid and you can't fix stupid. She and Huckabee are religiious extremists who Americans also reject. This minority faction of the Republican Party is what is destroying it. They need to rid their Party of these religious nutjobs and bring back intelligent leadership that understands the diversity of America and the fact that no one wants the government nor the religious hypocrites telling us how we are to live our lives, what we should believe, and promotes hatred and judgment on anyone who does not agree with them and does not look like them.

How sad if this is the same failed path they intend to stay on.

Palin is an ignorant fool with a cat-house hairstyle.
She was for the wasteful bridge-to- no-where fiasco which means
she would have NO PROBLEM wasting more of the tax payers money on sneaky deals.

She was NOT smart nor clever. She's sneaky + doesn't answer questions directly. We already had Bush who couldn't speak without sounding like an arse !
Ugh, and Palin saying "you betcha" 10,000 times, ain't so cute.
I'm glad she didn't become VP
    ...thank GOD for that!

Victoria's Secret? I can imagine... Sarah Palin calling McCain and telling him that she needs underwear... Where did they find her if she didn't have underwear before campaign?!

Yah won't that be effective in getting money off the street if some homeless person received her lovely cashmere outfit or armani women's suit from charity and begged for money.

Good grief, enough of the comparison to Obama's wardrobe and the money he raised for his campaign! HE bought his own clothes, he did not buy them from money given to him from his donors. And he spent his $700 million on what he was supposed to spend it on–winning the campaign!

The "fiscally conservative hockey mom who's just like us" allowed the RNC to spend an outrageous amount of money on clothes for herself and her family. So much for the maverick who would take on her own party and cut unnecessary spending!

Palin is pathetic – can't she afford to buy her own underwear? Maybe she was waiting to get back to Alaska to skin a moose for some long johns...

Really . . .this news is the reason I have lost all respect for the news media covering the 2008 election process. Maybe Obama could help out by sharing some of his surplus campaign dollars with Palin.

That's alot of money for unmemorable outfits.
    Well,
It should've been about CONTENT not fashion...but Palin has NO CONTENT . Republican's had to distract their base with this crazy dingbat . They are dumb enough to fall for that + vote for her b/c of her "pitbull" comments...ha ha! Dummies!

How much was Skeletor's clothes (Cindy McCain)?

How long does it take to sell these outfits? I'm waiting!
Let's see what this clothing pile of $$$ waste looks like!

$180,000........I have to work for 4 years to make that – gross. I think Sarah Palin didn't need all that expensive stuff.......she is quite beautiful naturally. They (her and Mccain) would have gone farther in their campaign had she just been herself, although they really didn't have any ideas they just bashed Obama and offered nothing. The excessive spending by her and her family just goes to show you that she / they think that looking good is more important than believing in who you truly are or the fact that you have a good message and mean it.
In my opinion, Sarah Palin should run for President in 2012, this ensures another term for President Obama.

If you are nice and fit, you don't need 10K to look 100K. Obama may the fittest president we have ever had and I am certain he would look good in any 2nd hand stuff.

While it is true that this story is no longer newsworthy, I really do appreciate the hypocrisy of the Republican Party. They try to portray Sarah Palin as an everyday, down to earth, hockey mom who understands what the "common Joe" (we'll call him six-pack or plumber) has to contend with every day, meanwhile they spend more money on a wardrobe than 90% of the households make in a year. This is the same party who took a certain Democrat to task for paying $200 for a haircut. My only request is that the Republican Party stop cramming their lies and hypocrisy down our throats. Thank you and have a nice day!

If this is the best that the media can do to trash this woman, then I'd say she's doing pretty well. These clothes were purchased because Sarah Palin didn't come with a high-end, Hilary wardrobe. There's not one of you who wouldn't have worn the clothes if you were in her position. She buys her clothes at a consignment shop. She's the real deal and that's what scares the heck out of some of you. Just a continued example of blatant media bias. What a big surprise that is.
