More spending on Palin revealed

Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.
Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican National Committee's total fashion bill for Sarah Palin's nine-week stint on the GOP presidential ticket is in: $180,000.

That's $30,000 more than the RNC previously disclosed it had spent outfitting and styling the Alaska governor and her family, according to Politico and the RNC's latest filings with the Federal Elections Commission.

The latest filing, which includes the final 3 weeks of the presidential race, shows the committee directed close to $55,000 to Palin's fashion stylist, New York-based Lisa Kline.

The RNC also spent close to $24,000 in several high end stores, including Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Neiman's, Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks, Target, and Victoria's Secret.

The RNC has said all the clothes purchased will be donated to charity.

Meanwhile, the McCain campaign paid a total of $110,000 on Palin's traveling hair and makeup stylists, according to the New York Times and the McCain campaign's latest FEC filing.

News surfaced shortly before Election Day that Republicans had shelled out more than $150,00 on Palin and her family in clothing costs - a revelation that posed an unnecessary distraction for the struggling McCain campaign, and undercut Palin's hockey-mom credentials.

Please send her back to Alaska. She can monitor the Russians for the winter. Also she can figure out how much of a bailout she is going to need since the energy taxes have dried up. Alaskins won't be getting a rebate anytime soon/

Big deal. How much did Obama spend on his suits or Michelle's duds? Puhleese. Obama would agree this whole wardrobe thing is totally inane. $180,000? A drop in the bucket.

Palin is tough. Astute. Honing those political skills. Say what you want – laugh if you will. But Sarah is taking some $$$ to the bank.

    She'll be back.

HA! Very interesting news!! The cat got out of the bag about the first $150,000 long before (3) weeks until the end of the campaign! And now, the Republicans are sitting on Capitol Hill, chastising the (3) automakers for the financial crisis they have created?????? It just amazes me that the Republicans don't seem to be able to see what exactly Sara Palin is: One who has a "journalist degree" that took 6 plus years to complete! One who seems to have real problems in her State of Alaska with being honest, and keeping herself out of so many "trouble'gates"! One who is self-serving and is only looking out for Sara (sound familiar), and isn't even devoting full time to her real job – that being the Governor of the State of Alaska! Well, bring her on in 2012 - the Dems will take another landslide and Obama will continue for (4) more years!

so what? that is 180K they are not spending on ads against their opponents. Only people that should care at the ones that gave money to the RNC. The fact taht she gets as much (or more) press than the president elect is a sad indicator of the press and the country.

What a ridiculous expense for this poor excuse for a governor. She isn't qualified to be governor of Alaska, much less VP or any other position in the government. Not to mention being completely untrustworthy.

I think Sarah is addicted to being such a 'so called, celebrity' She is an 'air head' & should stay in Alaska. She just loves being in the spot-light & will continue to try 'till 2012' then she will run for the GOP nomination & will lose!!!

@ Brian – Obama will be helping all of America with the $750 mil he raised, by getting elected president, which was the point. Whatever the RNC spent on Palin was one thing, but I very much object to money being spent on clothes and whatever for the rest of her family. There is no justification for that.

Gee, what a surprise. More smears on Palin. Who's behind this, just the sexist Corporate Media, Democrats or the opposition in her own party, now that we see previous attempts to do anything to smear her haven't worked and she is one of the most popular and GROWING political leaders?

And, gee, who hired these people, just like who bought the clothes that tried to lie and clais Gov Palin asked for these things? The very people who insisted and hired the stylists, Katie courics friends who worked at her station, now gossiping.

Man, you all are going to be finished in the industry.

Hey, you want some juice? Ask how much they had to spend on Michelle Obama's MAJOR makeover. Where's all the stories on that?

She hired Oprah's folks and many, MANY MORE. Which a greatful nation thank them all for their work. But stylists, trainers, makeup, wardrobe to maker her look like Jackie Kennedy and soften her hard look.

Well, it's ok, we see the Obama's can't take any criticism, even it being the truth, so let the grown up deal with the Media's Gotcha games.

And she STILL lost! It's apparent she is no longer receiving their special treatment as her hair looks dirty, there are bumps on her face and those clothes are definitely from the thrift shop. In short, who cares what she does.

I don't believe they donate the clothes to charity. Who will buy them. Certainly not sold in a thrift shop.
I think it shows how Republicans got us into this mess, throwing money away like water.

get over it media folks...how much do the men like trendy Kerry, Edwards, Obama spend on wardrobe, hair care, shoe care...gracious...this is all stupid...why hasn't anyone asked where all the money come from (over $700 million) for Obama's campaign? In a country realing with economic problems for the man on the street I wonder where all the money came from...now that is a more significant question than any wardrobe question...oh, except for how much does Pelosi pay for her wardrobe and transportation
