WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican National Committee's total fashion bill for Sarah Palin's nine-week stint on the GOP presidential ticket is in: $180,000.
That's $30,000 more than the RNC previously disclosed it had spent outfitting and styling the Alaska governor and her family, according to Politico and the RNC's latest filings with the Federal Elections Commission.
The latest filing, which includes the final 3 weeks of the presidential race, shows the committee directed close to $55,000 to Palin's fashion stylist, New York-based Lisa Kline.
The RNC also spent close to $24,000 in several high end stores, including Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, Neiman's, Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks, Target, and Victoria's Secret.
The RNC has said all the clothes purchased will be donated to charity.
Meanwhile, the McCain campaign paid a total of $110,000 on Palin's traveling hair and makeup stylists, according to the New York Times and the McCain campaign's latest FEC filing.
News surfaced shortly before Election Day that Republicans had shelled out more than $150,00 on Palin and her family in clothing costs - a revelation that posed an unnecessary distraction for the struggling McCain campaign, and undercut Palin's hockey-mom credentials.

While some of us do not seem to mind that a Vice-Presidential candidate buys herself and her family $180,000.00 worth of clothes, some of us do and find it quite insulting. If Palin was not trying to make herself into a “hockey mom” and pretending to be like “ordinary Americans” it would not have been as repulsive. The woman could have easily gone to high-end boutique and purchased 10 black suits for $5000.00- she could have dressed her family completely for another $5000.00. She spent the equivalent of some American’s dream home that they will NEVER own. It was completely out of line that she went on a high-end power-shopping spree; it’s disgusting. I still cannot believe that so many Americans would even consider voting for her on ANY ticket. I compare it to staring at a train wreck … what could anyone have been thinking? No wonder her 17-year-old is pregnant- the woman is an idiot.

For a year, while he was running for the President of the US & The National Inquirer was reporting that Sen John Edwards was having an affair, CNN refused to report it or even to investigate it as it was immaterial.....again he was RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT! Yet now with the ELECTION OVER and Palin back in Alaska, CNN is hot on her trail investigating price tags on her clothes because this is news????! So he says CNN is biased? LOL

Some say this is irrelevant because no-one asks about the men's clothing costs. However, I don't think the men could spend $180,000 on suits, ties, haircuts and shoes. It is relevant because it shows the hypocracy of the simple, hockey mom image she tried to project. How much else was hypocritical?
I'm going to be very interested in the names of those Charities the RNC keeps referring to. Now, if they came out and said they were going to auction the clothes off and donate the proceeds to charity, that I would have an easier time believing. They will not be able to recoup the funds expended on "hair & makeup" (what a waste).
It's pretty ironic that the RNC wants a smaller government when they try and justify spending all that cash on someone so unqualified to even be a participant in it.

Last I checked, it was Camp Obama that spent 50 extra million dollars for some fake columbs in a stadium for his acceptance speech, just for his party nomination.
And...last I saw, it was the Democrats and Obama who spent 4 TIMES THE MONEY THAN THE McCain Campaign did.

The REAL story of this report is not what the RNC spent on Sarah Palin but that the overwhelming majority of Obamas 750 million dollars did NOT come from small donors, as the hype claims.
