(CNN) - Jon Favreau, future White House director of speechwriting, has so far been at a loss for words over Facebook pictures of him at a recent party.
Pictures of Favreau, 27, at a recent party appeared on Facebook Friday. In one of the photos, Favreau, who served as President-elect Barack Obama’s chief speechwriter during the campaign season, was dancing with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of future secretary of state Hillary Clinton. In a second photo, a friend was offering the cutout a bottle of beer while Favreau stood beside the likeness with his hand on the cardboard New York senator’s chest.
The picture was reportedly up for a scant two hours or so before Favreau removed it, along with every other picture of himself beyond his profile photo - but there’s no getting the Facebook genie back in the bottle.
Favreau wasn’t talking to reporters about the incident, but transition officials said he had offered an apology to Clinton.
The Clinton camp reaction? "Sen. Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon's obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application," Clinton aide Philippe Reines told the Washington Post.

Are they sure it was a cardboard cut-out and not the real thing!!????
I think this guys should be left alone. Yes, it was stupid posting the picture on the face book, but i think he should be given a break....dude was trying to have fun for God's sake, let him be........
Isn't his hand a bit high for it to be her boobs? And how is this anywhere near as offensive as Chambliss' Thanksgiving add where he blatantly fondles a little girls chest?
Find a real story.
Hahahhaha, this is hilarious. Favraeu should have known better. Being the man behind Obama's speeches, I can't imagine he'd do this on camera.
Miss Campbell, the other guy has a beer in his hand. Did you fail to notice this?
"People do stupid things when alcohol is involved!!!!!" You really should cover the story completely and without such bias...
Also, Jon needs to find new friends. It was idiotic to take this picture, I agree but I am giving Mr Jon the benefit of a doubt here. He is young and was probably drinking as well. Now for his so-called moronic friend to post this that is another thing, entirely..
Anyhow, I do believe there is a big diffeence between this and pundits pointing out she revealed cleavage during one of her public appearances.
Obama's people are not in office yet and they're already making fools of themselves. Was this Jon the writer who dreamed up Obama's campaign slogan of 'CHANGE"?
Oh my gosh , give him some BHO teflon spray right away. PS Sarah says hello
Wow who cares? Who hasn't done something similar before. Just because you want to be a part of the political process doesn't mean you have to be devoid of any kind of personality.
That is absolutely hilarious. I would be mortified, but everyone has to have a sense of humor!
I think Hillary is doing women a disservice (and I am a BIG Hillary fan) to women by trying to join the "good old boys club" now that she is positioned to be a part of the new administration. She needs to stay true to her beliefs and her integrity. She is a role model for women and I, for one, am offended by the photo. Apparently Favreau knew it was offensive judging by how quickly he removed it and by offering an apology. Hillary should have expressed her disappointment at the sexist and childish nature of the "prank" before graciously accepting his apology.
Not exactly the best show of judgement on Favreau's part. Hopefully he learned something from this.
Both the guys in the photo owe Clinton a HUGE apology several times over.
the Obama campaign showed it's disdain for women throughout the primary. What a shock (not) that the person who wrote all those words of hope and change, is a phony little drunken frat boy. This is hope and change folks, I'm not suprised. The words of this campaign have never matched the actions of the people who work for and support it.
What an idiot.
she shouldn't be drinking beer with them boys.
Certainly, he loses points on discretion but it is a lesson learned...not something so awful to lose his job over.
serve him right
Sad dude.. Sad .... I understand it was a private party, but you should know better. You should know this would eventually come back and baite you in the ... Well bite you...
You are so close to writing your own ticket into history and you are being this reckless with such a promising future?
Sad real sad.. That was a Plaxico move.....
"Sen. Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon's obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application," – GREAT RESPONSE FROM HILLARY'S AIDE!
Crazy speechwriter.
Hillary's comments seem to eerily reflect the past actions of her husband. I am sure she is very excited about his interest in the state department.
President-elect Obama should pull the plug on Mr. Favreau. There is no room for this type of behavior.............period. Anybody sitting at the table with the serious political adults should know this. If they don't, let this first rolling head be proof that it will not be tolerated. Well Mr. Obama? You put a high price on transparency and integrity. Here is your chance to prove it. P. S. – I voted Obama.
Leave the guy alone. He's not a public figure and he's still a young guy - other 20somethings make judgement mishaps far worse than that.
He's obviously a very talented speechwriter and I hope Obama's team doesnt overreact to this.
to whomever wrote this article and the one about ms powers. GET A LIFE!
Ultimately what I'm hoping a policy of transparency will do is deflate these perceived "scandals." Favreau is one of many millions of us who have mixed personal and professional online, and most of us have exhibited questionable judgment, or at least indulged our senses of humor. And he is at the age where, as a college student, Facebook and MySpace were nascent.
Perhaps due to the sheer volume of "transgressions" alone, we can get to a point where the media can stop making mountains out of molehills, there will just be too much to cover otherwise - but obviously, we aren't there yet.
A typical Obama male supporter? I wonder.
