(CNN) - Jon Favreau, future White House director of speechwriting, has so far been at a loss for words over Facebook pictures of him at a recent party.
Pictures of Favreau, 27, at a recent party appeared on Facebook Friday. In one of the photos, Favreau, who served as President-elect Barack Obama’s chief speechwriter during the campaign season, was dancing with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of future secretary of state Hillary Clinton. In a second photo, a friend was offering the cutout a bottle of beer while Favreau stood beside the likeness with his hand on the cardboard New York senator’s chest.
The picture was reportedly up for a scant two hours or so before Favreau removed it, along with every other picture of himself beyond his profile photo - but there’s no getting the Facebook genie back in the bottle.
Favreau wasn’t talking to reporters about the incident, but transition officials said he had offered an apology to Clinton.
The Clinton camp reaction? "Sen. Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon's obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application," Clinton aide Philippe Reines told the Washington Post.

It's not difficult to tell this guy didn't vote for Obama and is as racist as they come. And he's saying the speech writer is sexist.
Who's he kidding. Takes one to know one I would say.
I think this is hilar-ious!
What a tool. My question is, who alerted the press? How did these pics get into the blogosphere so quickly? Does he have any privacy protections on his account?
Gee guys,
Sexism here, resignation there ... gosh lighten up people, even Hilary Clinton finds that amusing in the real sense of the term. As far as i am concerned, l am loving every pixel of it.
I'm an Obama supporter and I can see why some people can be disgusted by this. But really if you think about it this recent election was really uptight and a lot of bs come out of it. I can totally see why he did this: to have fun. Ya Hillary Clinton happened to be in the middle, but who cares? If she was really damaged by it then she would said something else about it instead of, “Sen. Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon’s obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application.” She's probably laughing about it. I think it's hilarious (I'm not a supporter of Clinton)!
To the people who are defending this young man and asking why it is so terrible for him to have a little youthful fun, well, he's in politics. Politics is largely about image, meaning those involved in politics are held up to a higher standard. This Favreau guy is held up to a higher standard than the rest of us. He's director of speechwriting for someone who is ostensibly the most powerful man in the world. If he can't project a professional image, or doesn't have the common sense to know that it might not be a good idea for him specifically to get drunk and pose for a photo of a stupid act, then perhaps he has no place in Obama's cabinet.
It would be different if this photo were taken on his 21st birthday, likely long before he had political aspirations. But the blog entry does read that this was taken at a "recent party." Favreau is clearly not a careful individual. I think that disqualifies him right there.
P.S. Favreau should drop the "friend" who posted the photo, because that guy is obviously braindead. Either that, or he did it on purpose ...
Immature- yes, Sexist- absolutely, Typical guy stuff-yes
But the person who took the picture and posted it, is not a friend of Jon Favreau. This person owes Jon an apology and Jon owes Obama one because he works for him and this is not a positive reflection of his boss.
Wake up 20 year olds, what you say and how you act does matter. No matter where you are.
I think it's absurd to try and drum up a story when these people clearly were joking around at a party. If Hilary was a good sport about it, what does that tell you? To me a glaring issue here is the media's insatiable need to invade peoples' private space and get a story where there really is none. Can no one ever have a relaxed moment again? It has been a long hard primary and election. CB, you need to find something better to do.
fire this idiot, Mr. Obama. he is a direct representative of your administration. either you, Mr. Obama, are truly for and are change or you are more of the same if you keep this imbecile on your payroll.
Why are we making the media hate the Ford employees saying they get 95% of their pay get the facts right staying home is not quite true we get unemployment true enough same as everyone else same scale then we get sub pay from the union dues we pay each month 2hrs.pay to make up for some lost wages how much you make an hour is what you pay times two we pay ourselves thats why we have a union to protect us when unemployment runs out most likely you are out the door like I was for 15 years. we are hard working employees and deserve to be bailout dont look at us look at the ceos.
Yay Hillary. Who cares.
I don't take it too seriously either but I still wonder if he'd have the same fun with a cardboard cut out of his mother's, sister's or girlfriend's picture?
2 thoughts:
1. america needs to take the 'stick' out of its collective butt and join the rest of europe's more risque sense of humor....
2. not his proudest moment, but prouder than edwards, craig, spitzer , abramoff, gonzalez, cheney, bush 's moments.....
3. male fraternal mysogyny is pretty lame, i don't like THAT.
4. if he's a good speechwriter that gets silly when drunk, so be it...
If it were a party where Obama was hung in effigy ..there would be outrage (as well it should be)..it would be racism
If it were a party where a cardboard Hillary Clinton was being groped and abused..where is the outrage..it is sexism
It is ..it is..it is...
We don't say "boys will be boys" when a cardboard political figure is lynched
So..face it..you are sexist if you do not see the harm in this..
He's smart and ambitious enough to know better, even if he's just 27. Pretty stupid stuff from someone in such an exhalted role. Can him.
I'm sure this young man is more than a bit embarrased, but to be critical and outraged about this is absurdly rediculous. Obviously this was at a party and people (including myself) do "silly" things when having a good time. This in no way disrespects Mrs. Clinton, this is NOT SEXIST.
This is a paper cut-out. Oh please drop the high minded outrage as everyone in the world has laughed at such things at parties, during Happy Hour, and in political comics, etc. Drop it. Should the guy with the beer bottle be stoned as well? The outrage is pathetic.
Here's a glimpse of the real Obamabots.
LOL, if this was a Repub, there would be 600 comments on here about what a terrible person he was.....
Oh My God!!! I can't believe all this profanatic thoughts. Disgusting.
Is his personal sense of humor in a private setting really any business of anyone?
its not amusing, he should resign
That's about as much as Hillary is going to get. Those pant suits of hers are breaking at the seams.
Wow, a lot of you guys really need to get a life.
Looks like a fun party! Get a grip, people! I have been a diehard Republican for over 25 years and I think this is such a non issue. This country has serious problems and needs serious answers. I guess no one is allowed to have fun at a party anymore? I wonder if the females at this party have the cutout of Bill in another room while the guys keep Hil busy? Way to watch his back!
on the plus side, we do have jon favreau to thank for Swingers and Iron Man and...
what? oh, it's not _the_ jon favreau?
let's tar and feather this kid, then.
