(CNN) - Jon Favreau, future White House director of speechwriting, has so far been at a loss for words over Facebook pictures of him at a recent party.
Pictures of Favreau, 27, at a recent party appeared on Facebook Friday. In one of the photos, Favreau, who served as President-elect Barack Obama’s chief speechwriter during the campaign season, was dancing with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of future secretary of state Hillary Clinton. In a second photo, a friend was offering the cutout a bottle of beer while Favreau stood beside the likeness with his hand on the cardboard New York senator’s chest.
The picture was reportedly up for a scant two hours or so before Favreau removed it, along with every other picture of himself beyond his profile photo - but there’s no getting the Facebook genie back in the bottle.
Favreau wasn’t talking to reporters about the incident, but transition officials said he had offered an apology to Clinton.
The Clinton camp reaction? "Sen. Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon's obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application," Clinton aide Philippe Reines told the Washington Post.

To all of those posting "He must resign," "he does not deserve to work at the White House," etc., you are ridiculous. He is obviously very talented and very good at what he does, or he wouldn't have this position. So he's at a party and poses with the Hillary cut-out. And all of you people thinks he deserves to LOSE HIS JOB over this?! Get life. Seriously, you're sitting at your computer typing your outrage at this. If something as unnewsworhty as this photograph prompts you to get on your imaginary soap box and demand his resignation, you need to find something more meaningful to do with your time.
The picture is funny and relatively harmless. Too much non news gets reported these days. I hope his career survives this.
I was not and am not now a HRC supporter and I admit that she has not always said or done some of the smartest things in this primary and election precess but this was wrong. It was insensitive, sexist, disrespectful and wrong. The fact that she is the Former First Lady or a Bag Lady makes no difference in this matter. It was wrong.
I think he should be fired. 27 or 107. he is old enough to know better. he is a stupid little a$$.
sally get over it and get a life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Favreau is 27, therefore he's an adult and has the right to do whatever he wants. The incident happened at a party, it isn't that big of a deal. Yes, he made a mistake in posting the pictures but he apologized and took them down right after. It's not like he was having ~sexual relations~ with the cutout or doing anything extremely inappropriate, they were just being silly. Our society is so focused on what's "appropriate" that it's gotten to the point where no one can do or say anything without having to think twice about it. It's complete garbage.
I wonder if Jon Favreau learned to disrepect females by practicing on members of his immediate family, possibly his mother and sisters! It might be the case that because he is a genuius, and, was so cherished and respected in his home for his brilliant mind that his father forgot to help teach his son to respect his own mother and sisters. Could it be that as a young genius, Jon Favreau was taught or allowed to dumb down his own mother. If so, now an adult genius, he still might not see anything in Mrs. Clinton to respect. Although she is considered a public intellectual. Remember Samantha Power. Does Michelle Obama dislike Mrs. Clinton too?
I sincerely hope he does NOT have a job with this administration now. And I'd like to hear a more serious response from both Clinton and Obama and a public apology from Favreau. This stuff is ridiculous in this century.
This picture is funny!!
Come on, lighten up!
Hillary's response was perfectly appropriate. No need to make a mountain out of a mole hole.
This is beyond idiotic. Especially for someone who had a hand in some of the most intelligent, thought-provoking and important speeches in recent years. Just plain stupidity. Not to mention the Hillary response. WHOA....somebody changed their tune really quickly! I guess the campaign is over....screw women! Ms. SOS doesn't need us anymore, so why get upset? Imagine if the roles were reversed and say, Hillary herself, or Susan Rice, or Janet Nopalitano, or any other woman was snapped in a photo holding a cardboard Barack Obama and grabbing at his crotch. Would it be funny then? Of course, not. It would be degrading to men, and rightly so. In fact, that woman, whoever she would be, would definitely be fired and publicly disgraced. This guy's antics will be forgotten in a matter of days. If we keep letting incidents like this go by without consequences, then sexism will never end. He doesn't need to be fired, just made to publicly apologize or something along those lines. And Hillary needs to speak up!! Say its inappropriate!! Show us you're still fighting for us, even if you're not running for anything anymore!!
This child wonder needs to go. Obama can not tolerate this kind of disrespect for women and/or his opponents or cabinet members. This is sophomoric and inexcusable for anyone closely aligned with the President.
I gave numerous times, worked the lines and voted for Obama; this crap needs to end here with an example made that this will not be tolerated!
He is 27 old enough as those where at 18, why not pay consequences. He did something that embarrased the future of the White House, he is suppose to work for. If Obama does nothing about this man, then we are in deep trouble. Responsible party step forward. Does not matter that it was the fellow taking the picture who pasted it on facebook, He still did it.
There is no excuse for bad behavior. This youngman should leave president-elect Obamas staff. Mrs. Clinton is a woman like myself and should not be displayed in that manner ( no woman should be). He is a grown man and what he did shows just the type of person he truly is.
To those who claim to be offended by this, I ask: How do you get through life? If you're so deeply offended and disgusted by the picture, I wonder how do you walk down the street, ride public transportation, send your children to school, etc., where obviously much more highly offensive acts take place on a very regular basis?
This is a guy, who you don't know, at a private party, posing with a CARDBOARD CUT OUT, for only long enough for someone to snap a picture. Does the genuinely offend you? Really? Or are you just trying to smear the President-elect?
Besides, it doesn't even look like he's grabbing her breast; I would say that's her armpit, at best.
Oh my God, lighten up, people. LOL.
Seriously!? There's work life, and then there's private life. In our private lives, we sometimes act silly! Not just some but all of us! Leave the guy alone!
What offends me the most is how many people think this is okay.
He doesn't work at Circuit City, he'll be working in the White House shaping our image.
If he had done this to a cut out of Michelle Obama, you'd all want him in jail.
It certainly does look sexist. Two males forcing themselves on a (cardboard ) woman. He needs to go home and grow up.
A lesson learned for him. This should be an obvious lesson for anyone, if you don't people seeing a certain picture of you on the internet (and i'm including your job) don't put it up. plain and simple.
I love all the bots posting..."lighten up." or he's too young to know-come on now folks-your "Messiah" is supposed to be doing things differently. If this man is supposed to be a speech writer-well then expect more of the same.
Bots-don't condone this behavior just because he's a bot-think!!!!-this is how W got so far-nobody said anything to him and look at the mess this country is in. Silly-yes-funny yes-but sorry he should go!
What a boob.
THis picture is not that serious, compareing how the media is still bashing sara palin and her family. God bless hillary clinton in her new job (seretary of state)!!!!!
This is a blip on the screen right now (in the big scheme of things), but very important from a professional standpoint:
1) Social sites are being watched – and not just Facebook;
2) Government employees (especially staffers of government officials), have to set the example;
3) He should be fired – end of story.
Representatives of staffs are represent the people that serve under.
Relax...it is not serious.
I was wondering where all you repuks went. lol
Jon Favreau is not Mr.Obama. you must get over the loss and join with the rest of america and help fix this country. ssshhhheeeessss
