Obama speechwriter Favreau learns the perils of Facebook

(CNN) - Jon Favreau, future White House director of speechwriting, has so far been at a loss for words over Facebook pictures of him at a recent party.

Pictures of Favreau, 27, at a recent party appeared on Facebook Friday. In one of the photos, Favreau, who served as President-elect Barack Obama’s chief speechwriter during the campaign season, was dancing with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of future secretary of state Hillary Clinton. In a second photo, a friend was offering the cutout a bottle of beer while Favreau stood beside the likeness with his hand on the cardboard New York senator’s chest.

The picture was reportedly up for a scant two hours or so before Favreau removed it, along with every other picture of himself beyond his profile photo - but there’s no getting the Facebook genie back in the bottle.

Favreau wasn’t talking to reporters about the incident, but transition officials said he had offered an apology to Clinton.

The Clinton camp reaction? "Sen. Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon's obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application," Clinton aide Philippe Reines told the Washington Post.

To some it may be funny in a sophomoric, juvenile, unsophisticated beer party at college way. But this individual's position in a President's administration as Presidential speech writer warrants greater maturity, vision and impulse control. Clearly he is out of his league and needs to finish growing up before he gets to play with the big boys.

Come on America, who really cares about this issue. The Nation is facing far more serious issues, people losing their jobs, homes, and life. We need to keep focus on the real issues facing our beloved Nation.

President -elect Obama should fire this man. After something like this he can not trust Jon Favreau to write his speeches and literally put words in his mouth.
At 27 yrs. old and about to become the primary speechwriter for Barack Obama, Jon Favreau should be more mature and more professional than this. He should have sense enough to know that as a public spokesperson for President-Elect Obama he no longer has a private life and he is always on camera and there may always be an open mike in the room. If you don't want to get caught doing it or saying it, don't.
This shows very bad judgement. It is definitely sexist and disrespectful of Ms. Clinton. It is disrespectful of all women. As for Phillipe Reines, had Ms. Clinton even seen the pictures on Facebook before he responded to Jon Favreau"s apology in her name? Or was this just another conversation betwen males in the Good Ol' Boys Club?

Just what did he do wrong? He danced with a cardboard cut-out? Did he try to have sex with it? Did he try to hang it from a tree by the neck? Did he do anything other than dance with it?

I mean... where's the fire people? What are we supposed to be angry about?

Liberal Arts majors again prove they are immature brats. Anyone notice how many people in politics get themselves in these situations. There seem to be very few pictures of scientists like this. Who else thinks we should change the type of people running this country?

When this sort of thing happens I put it in perspective. I ask the reader to do the same; picture your favorite woman in place of Hillary. Picture your mother, sister, wife on the billboard and some drunken punk has his sweaty hands on her breast. How would you feel? Still funny?

I for one believe that this behavior is disrespectful and disgusting and Favreau owes Mrs. Clinton an apology.

He's a 27 year old man that was drinking and made a stupid decision. Big deal. If Hillary doesn't care then neither should we...But don't tell me that Bill didn't chuckle a little.

Let Hillary speak for herself. If she wants to grill this guy, she will in good time...over a hot spit. She doesn't need people on the left or right to cry for her. She has proven to be a big girl. If she is mad, this guy will be out of a job quickly.

Ok, I'm a woman and I don't see the big deal. It's pretty funny, actually.

Although it was stupid of him to post it, being in the public eye and all.

"Obvious interest in the state department", what an awesome remark. That is so deliciously perfect. Clinton, cheers to such wit! It's funny, I want a cardboard cutout of Hillary now too...where do I get one? She'll come and party with me everywhere.

A stupid story, but the Clinton camp may have had the lamest reaction imaginable.

"Sen. Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon's obvious interest in the State Department"?!!!

That's something a twelve-year old girl would say. I honestly have no idea why Barack Obama nominated Hillary Clinton for SOS.

I am so very tired of people in politics and on fox making fun of H. C.
They are either jealous, or, afraid of her. Probably both.
She is a hard working good politician. (Who cares for us and her country)
This speechwriter needs to write his next speech in the form of a very public apology, and read it to the country who has seen this ugly thing. on that fox thing.

If I had never heard of her, I would still be offended.

He's not just any 27 year old guy having fun at a party. He's the speechwriter and an advisor to the President of the United States. He should be replaced because of his incredibly bad judgement and stupidity. This isn't just any old job, and this isn't any old president either.
I proudly support President -elect Obama and want to see him with the absolute best people around him. This man ( he's not a kid at 27) is obviously not one of the brightest minds, and not someone I would like to see advising our new President on anything.
