(CNN) - Jon Favreau, future White House director of speechwriting, has so far been at a loss for words over Facebook pictures of him at a recent party.
Pictures of Favreau, 27, at a recent party appeared on Facebook Friday. In one of the photos, Favreau, who served as President-elect Barack Obama’s chief speechwriter during the campaign season, was dancing with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of future secretary of state Hillary Clinton. In a second photo, a friend was offering the cutout a bottle of beer while Favreau stood beside the likeness with his hand on the cardboard New York senator’s chest.
The picture was reportedly up for a scant two hours or so before Favreau removed it, along with every other picture of himself beyond his profile photo - but there’s no getting the Facebook genie back in the bottle.
Favreau wasn’t talking to reporters about the incident, but transition officials said he had offered an apology to Clinton.
The Clinton camp reaction? "Sen. Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon's obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application," Clinton aide Philippe Reines told the Washington Post.

He needs to go. Obama can find other talented speechwriters. I wonder if Jon would want his own mother disrespected in this way.
And he posted that on Facebook? He posted that himself? It doesn't get any dumber than this. I am not bothered as much with what he did. Yeah, it's not pretty, it's not a laudable behavior, but then again that is a party and people let lose at a party. I've done my share of dumb things at parties. But, hell, I never posted the thing on Facebook for the world to see. Particularly one that is relevant for his future position at the WH. I'd say this proves enough stupidity on his part to lose his job; just posting the picture on Facebook. What he was doing at that party is his business and I hope everyone had a good time.
Mark and Ryan@6:06++++Dumb and Dumber!
People like you are simply cartoons and jokes, Here you have a person that does something incredibly stupid and immature and you find a way to throw ignorant rants out about Obama.
Here is a thought. When the country begins to turn around and enjoys success and prosperity again why don't you and your ilk reject any benefits of that success as a protest against Obama. You hate him for "whatever" reason so just reject anything that he has a hand in. Be disciples of hate and refuse any and all things that could possibly benefit you and your families. That way you can show Obama and the world that YOU were right all along about his policies and his presidency and that YOU are smarter than us all!!! That way we can celebrate you and say hooray for the superior intelligent people like you!!!

so let me get this straight. people are angry because a guy in his 20's got drunk and felt up a cardboard cutout of hilary clinton? really? they got mad at someone in their 20's getting drunk? okay...cool...at least hilary realizes this isn't a big deal.
This story far overshadows the fact that George Bush and his War Criminal REPUBLICAN Administration should be guilty at The Hague for Crimes against Humanity and Inciting Genocide.
Two people should have used some more common sense. One, don't let people take pictures of you that put you in a bad light. Two, unless you're trying to humiliate someone, don't post pictures like that to facebook.
Just what the President of the United States needs as a speechwriter– a 27 year old drunken frat boy. Why am I not surprised? Fortunately, Bambi wasn't quite as dumb in his cabinet choices.
But what about that auto bail-out?
A transition team loaded with lobbyists, a cabinet loaded with entrenched Washington politicians…yep, change you can believe in.
This is just ok as long as it is a bunch of Democrats. "Bid Deal, just good natured fun". Would it have been just "Good natured fun" for Repubs? You folks are so shallow minded. My God, this man tells Obama what to say. Very scary. Is this part of being educated? Americians are getting a good slow screw.
How does one put it, whoopiedo, who cares. Grow up, stupidity is an American right, as is is a right for rightous jerks to comment on it. By the way George Washington liked his wine, Thomas Jefferson liked his slaves, Ben Franklin like everyone and Abe Lincoln was not a member of any church, rightous fools stand up and show your ignornace and moral superiority.
That's a nice photo cut out of Hillary – maybe she should be flattered.
Hilarious picture!
That is AWESOME! Who cares what he is about to be. At least he knows how to have fun. Ha ha ha........
How About Mrs Clinton knocking back all of those shots and chasing it with beer during the Primaires ...all in fun ok!!! and Palin greeting her Male Advisors with a towel wrapped around her in the flesh ...not a cardboard ...get a freaking Life it was Party the Guy was having fun no disrepect
What is all the crying about, it was just a poster! You think to listen to all the fools on here that they guy about undressed her, now that would be scary.
Hillary was probably flattered!
Ha! Some one thought it was Clinton at the party and not a cardboard picture. The frightening thing is that this person has a vote to influence our society.
An Obama speech writer being sexist? And the media criticizing Hillary's response? Forgive me if I don't faint with shock. As a feminist, I'm not disappointed in Clinton's response. She acted like an adult. If she had called it out as sexist and demanded an apology, then the talking heads in the media would have complained that she continued to "play the gender card" or "couldn't take the heat." Since she didn't take that bait, the media blames her for her lack of feminist outrage. She just can't win. The media is the real problem here.
As to those who are thinking "boys will be boys." I'd like to add that his age is no excuse for his behavior. At 27, he shouldn't be acting like a drunk frat boy. If he still acting like that, then Obama should dump him until he grows up. I don't really care if the average 27 year-old gets drunk and acts like an idiot at a party (I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt that alcohol played a role in the judgment), but this guy is a speech writer for the next leader of the most powerful country on earth. Forgive me if I have higher expectations. There are a lot of good speech writers out there, ones with common sense as well as a way with word. Obama should hire one of them.
Mark ~ Honestly, Kool-Aid? Bad choice of drink! For your information, politicians have been lining their pockets since before I was born. It will not change as long as the government is, well, the government. Start the change you want to see!
Well he can kiss that job goodbye. Gotta love Myspace or facebook, while it can be a good tool and friend, it can also be your downfall. Though its not the worst thing in the world he did, nevertheless it was the most stupidest, especially when he knows he is going thru the application process. Give me the job of speech writing and at the same time I know how to show respect to the former first lady. I agree with some of the posters on here, the super smart kids who are involved in business and government. Scairy thing when you think about it. I guess its no different when my parent's generation was their age in the 70s how dumb mistakes they made. Every age group has their share of idiots. I am sure Mr.Obama is taking note of this and is not pleased. Word to Jon, better have a plan B, because I think you just threw your future out the door. Hope you have learned from your mistakes.
What happens in Facebook, doesn't stay in Facebook. The guy wasn't thinking when he posted that picture.
The Clinton Camp should have said "We thank Mr. Favreau for his interest in certain positions and think his actions will reflect in his future" Hillary Clinton should destroy this unstable man's carrer no matter what.
Umm... her husband... the President, remember... who was much older than 27... got it on w/the intern and got to keep his job.
You want this guy to lose his job for having a good time at a party? For not having 'good judgment"??? What a laugh!!
Maybe her response should be, "Well, at least *someone* still finds me attractive."
