Obama speechwriter Favreau learns the perils of Facebook

(CNN) - Jon Favreau, future White House director of speechwriting, has so far been at a loss for words over Facebook pictures of him at a recent party.

Pictures of Favreau, 27, at a recent party appeared on Facebook Friday. In one of the photos, Favreau, who served as President-elect Barack Obama’s chief speechwriter during the campaign season, was dancing with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of future secretary of state Hillary Clinton. In a second photo, a friend was offering the cutout a bottle of beer while Favreau stood beside the likeness with his hand on the cardboard New York senator’s chest.

The picture was reportedly up for a scant two hours or so before Favreau removed it, along with every other picture of himself beyond his profile photo - but there’s no getting the Facebook genie back in the bottle.

Favreau wasn’t talking to reporters about the incident, but transition officials said he had offered an apology to Clinton.

The Clinton camp reaction? "Sen. Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon's obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application," Clinton aide Philippe Reines told the Washington Post.

Lighten up guys. Clinton sure sees the funny side.

The thing is, these politicians have to fight tough. After the election, they don't hold so many grudges because they know that the tough tactics are part of the political process, but their supporters do. So they can joke around, but when their supporters see the jokes they get angry.

I'm sorry, but this stupidity @ his best. Everyone knows Facebook is a public site & to be on Obama's staff and where a staff T-shirt with a life size cut-out of Secretary of State nominee, Sen. Clinton was dumb. It is high school stuff and I'm glad he apologized.

    This... is... NOT... news.

I'm getting so tired of this kind of story being pushed and pushed by CNN that I might have to get my news elsewhere.

Favreau's face is the only one not blurred out (other than Clinton's). Why?

Why are so many people (and politicians) who are in the public-eye such idiots? Do their brains go into limbo when they're off-duty?

you can tell mrs. Clinton is a poster.Stuff like that should not be repeated especially on tv.I am ashamed of the know respect that tv reporters have for our goverment to make mockeries of them.,and ignore reality. One reporter was laughing at a comment someone made about the the tax payers money so thay can buy american cars,I don't see anything wrong with that it may even help with the houseing problem.

I noticed this guy is only 27. If he had been 37 or 47 he may have had the judgment not to display such juvenile behavior. It's a little disconcerting to know that more and more super-smart kids who don't have good judgment are having such influence on business and government. Grow up.

Stupidity at a high level. Shame on this jerk. What has happened to maturity and respect? How do you erase this picture that will be around forever. Infinity is forever.

you can tell mrs. Clinton is a poster and shouldn't have been told on tv. I can believe reporters say anything without seeing if it is a fact or not They really underestimate the puplics entelligents.

This is what happens when you hire a 27-year-old to be your speechwriter. By the way, this is NOT the actor/director Jon Favreau (who directed "Iron Man" and "Elf"). Same exact name!

Wow, speechwriter for Obama AND director of "Iron Man?" 2008 was a good year for him.

I am deeply disgusted and find this gesture deeply offensive and disrespectful! However, I am shocked and disappointed at Hillary's response to the incident. I agree with Campbell that this was not acceptable behavior... I would be equally disgusted had this been Sarah Palin.

Big deal. I'm so glad Clinton can see this as just good-natured fun. Aren't we allowed to enjoy a little ribald humor anymore? Campbell Brown needs to chillax on this one. No harm, no foul. Sexism exists and we shouldn't get distracted by something as silly as this.

Obama supporters have been disgusting, sexist, and rude to Hillary during the campaign. This isn't a surprise. Obama supporters on the left are worse than some of McCain supporters on the right.

Also notice that Obama ignored Latinos and Asians in his cabinet while both groups voted heavily for Obama. Isn't it interesting that the GOP was the first to appoint a Latino to the top for cabinet posts and an Asian to Sec. of Transportation.

Its funny. Watch Democrats deny the first Vietnamese American a seat in the House and instead, give it to a black man who is indicted for taking bribes and hiding it in his freezer.

And by the way, with each state getting into debt, how the hell is it gonna work?? That' just unacceptable but what are we gonna do, huh? Where the hell are they gonna get the money?? I just can't realize we became so greedy...
