(CNN) - Barbara Streisand is among the Democratic Party's leading Hollywood supporters and has charged President Bush stole the 2000 and 2004 elections, but all that seemed like water under the bridge Sunday when the famed entertainer appeared at the White House.
Streisand, who was honored at the Kennedy Center Sunday evening for her legendary career, got a kiss on the cheek from the president at the White House shortly before the event kicked off. Streisand did give the president a kiss back.
The event was so surreal it was played on video for attendees of the Kennedy Center honors later in the evening.
"Art transcends politics this weekend," Streisand said of her venture to the Bush White House, according to the Associated Press.
Though Streisand, who has called for Bush's impeachment, said it would be "lovely" if she instead received the award under President-elect Barack Obama.

Streisand is SO irrelevant that I am amazed CNN reports this.
And then she made a mad dash for the disinfectant.
I agree Barbara. It would have been better to receive the award under President Obama.
She is happy to be kissing him good-bye. If it would speed his departure I would give him a hug.
Streisand supported Hillary in the primary – she is a smart (and talented) lady!
She did not have to attend the event or just decline the award if she dislikes Bush so much.
My heart goes out to Ms. Streisand. It would have been much more of an honor to receive the award from an honorable man - P-E Barack Obama.
Instead, she received a kiss from a cold, lying, dishonorable fish.
She should have kick him where it most hurts, by accident of course.

Art does transcend politics but Bush's understanding and appreciation of art is nil.

If she had any integrity at all she would have been true to her convictions about GW Bush and turned her back on him.
It shows that Babs and her ILK in hollywood are all hot air, although it is an example of how one should act, if for nothing else, a show of respect for the office. For that I give her credit.
Isn't it amazing how there haven't been any claims that Obama stole the election? I guarantee you that if McCain had one, that's all we'd be hearing...

How ungrateful can you get...I think that there are other entertainers that deserved the reward before her. If it wasn't for Bush keeping us safe all these years she may not have been alive to enjoy this award at all!
