Bill Clinton broadens foundation's climate initiative

The former President announced a new partnership between Arkansas and his foundation Saturday.

The former President announced a new partnership between Arkansas and his foundation Saturday.

(CNN) - As his wife begins her transition to becoming the nation's top diplomat in tumultuous times across the globe, former President Bill Clinton is also doing his part for the planet.

The Clinton Foundation announced Saturday that it is partnering with the State of Arkansas in an extension of the foundation's Clinton Climate Initiative. Through retrofit programs, the partnership will help the state where Clinton served as governor to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Arkansas is one of the first states to participate in the Clinton Climate Initiative. In 2006, the Clinton Foundation developed an exclusive partnership with the 40 largest cities in the world that have all pledged to engage in efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

"While urban areas account for more than three-quarters of the world's total greenhouse gas emissions, we need to work with rural states like Arkansas to make a difference in the fight against climate change in practical, measurable, and significant ways," said former President Clinton in the statement released by the foundation Saturday. "I'm confident that Arkansas will set an example for the rest of the country and the world," he added.

Good luck trying to save the planet, while the neanderthal idiots of the G.O.P. are busy trying to protect Big Business from any restrictions or responsibilities what-so-ever in destroying Earth in the unholy name of Capatalism. The biggest obstacle to cleaning up the poisins that are destroying this planet reside in the good olde U.S. of A.! Of course anybody who stands in the way is a communist, tree hugging, lunatic out to destroy the American (cough/cough; gasp/gasp) way of life. See you at the grave yards boys!!!

With a broader focus: Ultra-conservatism, like the ‘trickle down’ concept, has much the same characteristics as found in illegal pyramid schemes. They are equal in that only a few people really benefit, that they are driven by self-interests, are infected with greed and dishonesty, are sold with attraction to people’s self-interests and greed, and depend on taking advantage of the majority. The fraud they can perpetrate results in the collapse of the infected systems (i.e., corporate corruption, Wall Street, mortgage industry, auto industry, religious extremism,,,) and can eventually even bring down the total economy (what we are close to today). Without the regulations, enforcement, controls, checks and balances needed to keep conservative methodology from being the run-away service of the powerful few, greed, dishonesty and self-indulgence naturally take over. As long as the focus is on total deregulation, completely open and fair-trade markets and on the unchecked pursuit of benefit for Special Interests and a select few, without real protection, consideration and concern for the majority, the natural result will be what we are experiencing today. This criticism is not liberal thinking advocating a large ‘tax and spend’ government giving to a dependent population or advocating protectionism but rather is pragmatism, is simply reality demanding moderation and a centrist thinking that actually benefits everyone. The other choice is to continue down the road we have been on, with only very costly temporary delays.

The Clinton/Gore team was the greatest Presidency this country has ever seen. Too bad the presidency was stolen from Al Gore.
Had Al Gore been elected, we would have had a Green that was less dependent on foreign oil and probably would not have needed to waste our military on an unneceessary war. Godspeed Bill Clinton, Al Gore and now Barack Obama

I think there are few things that are more important than stopping global warming,I am glad both Clinton and Gore are taking on these global problems.Scientist agree that the 2nd largest producer of methane gas in the world are cows belching, also rice patty fields, the oceans additionally contribute to the production of methane gas in our atmosphere.Active volcanoes ,there are more than 500 in the world at this moment, emit carbon monoxide, into our atmosphere daily, causing global warming also.Maybe the worst pollutant is nitrogen, which is man made ammonia, used for fertilizing our crops,is 300 times worse than carbon monoxide,it destroys the ozone, and is smog.Hopefully Clinton and Gore have a plan to save us from global warming !

You want a REAL challenge Billy boy,,, go tell Los Angeles, New York City or Chicago they need to clean up there act and get them to go along with your energy reduction plan.
You go tell those Hollywood folks and Big Apple Wall Street big shots to cut back on all the energy they soak up during a red carpet affair.
Hey, why do you not tell all of these big fancy pro sports arenas to stop using so much power?
Ohhhh, thats right, big money can do what they want with no regard to the enviroment.
You want a real challenge Billy boy,,, take that on,,, not Arkansas

Even a great President will suffer the limitation of being only one person.

As a couple, as a family, they gain signifigant strengths.

Foundations are meant for building upon, foundations focus moral truth, but foundations are only a beginning; a true beginning which only gains the finish after a great amount of planning.

Organizations bring order, Organizations can also focus moral truth, but the price fixing masters of organization... OPEC, now they get organized profit.

How can the organizations re-order your's and many other foundations which are lack real plans.

What must come first: problem? challenge? Question?

Life; and life gives us our first standards of living...

The only thing wrong with our palncet is the gas that is emmited everytime someone crooked opens theri mouth a lot of hot air escapes. If someone could come up with a way to harness all that hot air we would not need to buy or make fuel, we would have enought gas fot a very long time.

Ken Blackewll, would not get my vote. I remember how he helped The Republicans steal the election in 2004. This is poetic justice. Democrats remember this face and go out and vote with a vengeance. Keep this unsavory character from holding any political office. Go democrats,, do not feel comfortable because we are in the White House.
There is much more to do, The Republicans have already started to plot, as to how to derail Obama's plan for fixing the economy. We have to make sure that there are enough Democrats in both the House and Senate to get things done. So please!!! PLEASE!!! go out and vote. With God all things are possible to those who believe.
