Obama to announce energy posts as Blagojevich questions linger

President-elect Barack Obama will meet Monday with his national security team.

President-elect Barack Obama will meet Monday with his national security team.

(CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama is expected to announce key members of his energy team Monday as questions linger and media attention remains on the scandal involving Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Obama likely is to name Steven Chu, a physicist who runs the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, as his energy secretary, three Democratic officials close to the transition team said last week.

Chu won the 1997 Nobel Prize in physics and is highly respected in energy circles.

The Obamites are all worked up again.

If the situation were reversed with McCain the POTUS elect and his senate seat were offered up for cash all the demo morons would be out in force calling for his head.

When – and if – there is any real news to report linking Obama to Blagojevich, then by all means report it. But lately methinks CNN has been stung by the loonies pointing fingers and screaming they're in the bag for Obama – and are now trying to create a scandal where none exists. Or maybe innuendo just sells more ads?

This ain't change and it ain't what I voted for. Rahm and Barrack need to start telling EVERYTHING they know about this scandal. We've had enough cover ups the past eight years.

You know what's funny? The RNC had no problem with Sarah Palin's ACTUAL REAL scandal that she was involved in. Abuse of power? Playing cronyism in her own office? No problem! Lets try and block that investigation. Now they are trying to beat this Blago-Obama theory into everyone's heads. I hope to find out more info soon too. But in the mean time, don't make up stories. The RNC always does this. We get a democrat for president and rather than turn inward and work to make their own party better, they have to start conspiracy theories and rumor mills and work as hard as they can to delegitimize the president for some ridiculous reason. That's why this country is in shambles. People just care about winning, they don't care about improving this country.

  6. Tabloid muck...oh what's this?

The bulk of this story is just more tabloid muck which has little to do with Obama other than proximity. The only part of this story worth nothing is the tiny little part about how we'll soon again have a White House which values science.

BB–Palin is not the one who stirred up hate–that would be people like you and The Most Reverend Jeremiah Wright and his sidekick, the Priest. You dems did everything you could to bring Palin down and she is more popular than ever–is not remotely connected to any scandal. Put that in your nostril and snort it for a change instead of being a hypocritical democrat.

Funny how you Obamites have your undies in a bundle about any hint of negativity toward your master and yet cling to any rumor about Bush, Palin, or anybody who doesn't agree with your politics. What a bunch of hypocrites.

The lingering questions are in most American's minds. It's not just the media that keeps bringing it up.

Extreme conservatism, including the ‘trickle down’ rationalization, has much the same characteristics as found in illegal pyramid schemes. They are equal in that only a few people really benefit, that they are driven by self-interests, are infected with greed and dishonesty, are promoted by attraction to people’s self-interests and greed, and depend on taking advantage of the majority. The fraud they can perpetrate results in the collapse of the infected systems (as seen in corporate corruption, Wall Street meltdown, financial industry meltdown, auto industry collapse, religious extremism,,,) and can eventually even bring down the total economy (what we are close to today). Without the regulations, enforcement, controls, checks and balances needed to keep aggressive conservative methodology from being the run-away service of the powerful few, greed, dishonesty and self-indulgence naturally take over. As long as the focus is on total deregulation, completely open and fair-trade markets and on the unchecked pursuit of benefit for Special Interests and a select few, without real protection, consideration and concern for the majority, the natural result will be what we are experiencing today. This criticism is neither liberal thinking advocating a large ‘tax and spend’ government giving to a dependent population nor is it advocating protectionism but rather is pragmatism, is simply recognizing the reality that demands moderate conservative/liberal positions and a centrist thinking that actually benefits everyone. The other choice is to continue down the road we have been on, with only very costly temporary delays, ending eventually in catastrophe.

Climate Czar! Are you kidding me. And what data will she be reviewing? The junk data Gore is forcing on us?? Anyone read the article about a possible tax on farmers and ranchers for livestock emissions? That will be next – And why not tax every man, woman and child for the very same thing?

I continue to be amazed at the arrogance, mixed with pure childishness, shown by Obama supporters on these bloggs. Many of you call people with political beliefs different than your own idiots, dumb, etc. I have found that people who do so are usually very good at pointing the finger at those who actually stick their neck out and try to accomplish something. Yet, when pressed, are unable to complete the most mundane tasks. Perhaps that explains your attraction to political leaders that do the same.

I think people mistakenly interpret Obama's superficiality as innocence. There seems to be slime all over Illinois & Chicago politics.

What kills me is the idoit moron republicans that can't seem to get past the fact that Baglovich did this on his own greedy account, and it had nothing to do w/ the next president other than they lived in the same state. Rush, Bill, Sean, and all your mindless two cent hill billy moron followers, will you report the real news, like the war, India, Etc, versus this crap. Don't you worry your racist minds one second baglovich will be forced out and a good Democrat will be put in his place along w/ the open seat that Obama is leaving.

Obama has nothing to do with the disreputable governor from Illinois. Reporters are idiots. I don't care about the governor or the senate seat. What about the ECONOMY? With it getting worse every day, I'm beginning to doubt if Obama will be able to get anything done his first term in office.

The GOP and the Media are unable to understand that the campaign is over ... Obama won.

The Republicans are running nasty campaign ads, spending all their money trying to make a mountain out of a molehill – when there isn't even a molehill!

Just think what the Republicans could accomplish if they put their petty, partisan politics aside – really believed in putting America and Americans first ... if they stopped being so hate-filled that they would rather our country go down in flames than to work with Obama to help him succeed in solving our problems!!

There is a chance and a hope for this mess. Why won't the GOP finally put their country ahead of politics? Can't we all get along?

Yellow Dog Democrat, Sky and others,
It's now a week since the Blago story broke, and Obama still hasn't said who if anyone in his transition team talked to Blago. There may or may not be a link; but this is certainly NOT the transparency Obama promised. If it takes this long to answer the simple question of who had contact and of what kind, then how is he every going to respond to a fast moving actual crisis?

Here we go again! Certain liberal Democrats here better get thicker skin to go through the next few years of your messiah as our President. This is not a Republican conspiracy. The fact is, Obama is a Senator from Illinois and all this crap is taking place in Illinois about his senate seat...and Resko. When stuff was happening with Stevens and Alaska, do you remember who felt your liberal wrath? If anything slightly suspicious happened in Texas, immediately you castigated Bush. And Florida...well, Bush's brother Jeb must be under George's command! People, this is directly related to something that is Obama get over it. You need to be disappointed with your #1 news platform, CNN. I mean, WOW, they're actually bringing up something that isn't anti-Republican!!
