Jackson, Jr. an informant to Blago investigations

Sources close to Rep. Jackson, Jr. told CNN Tuesday that the Illinois congressman has supplied information regarding Gov. Blagojevich to federal law enforcement officials since 2006.
Sources close to Rep. Jackson, Jr. told CNN Tuesday that the Illinois congressman has supplied information regarding Gov. Blagojevich to federal law enforcement officials since 2006.

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (CNN) - Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. - who was cited in a criminal complaint against Rod Blagojevich - has been an informant for at least a decade with the U.S. Attorney's office, and has informed on the embattled governor of Illinois, though not in the case currently under investigation, Jackson spokesman Kenneth Edmonds told CNN Tuesday.

In addition, two sources close to Jackson told CNN that, in 2002, Blagojevich - then running for governor of Illinois - solicited a $25,000 campaign donation from Jackson, which he did not get.

At the time, Jackson's wife, Sandi, was a candidate for the job of director of the state's Lottery Commission, a post she did not win, the sources said.

After Blagojevich took office, in early 2003, he told Jackson something to the effect of, "You see what $25,000 would have done?" the sources said.

In 2006, Jackson reported the incident, which he believed to have been an attempt at a shakedown, the sources said.

The report, the sources said, came three three years later because Jackson's memory was jogged by another case - that of developer Tony Rezko, whose fraud and corruption trial included testimony about $25,000 donations to Blagojevich.

Jackson did not endorse Blagojevich in his initial campaign and tried to stay on the sidelines during the governor's re-election bid, one of the sources said.

Blagojevich's office did not return calls seeking comment.

Yeah, right. The kid got caught with both hands in the cookie jar, then sold his soul to the devil to avoid prosecution. Police informant he clearly wasn't. This is a blog concoction planted to help the struggling Jackson family.

No aspersions to Jackson: one wants to believe and this sounds good. I'd help the US attorney's office too for nearly all practical purposes.
Here is what is wrong, CNN says "at least for a decade" and then goes back to 2006, with reference to an incident in 2003. This leaves some earlier years when Jackson was helping out on other matters, not related to the current govenor of Illinois.
You should have just said for the last 5 years. Now you have to explain and expose earlier efforts, maybe best left unexplored. I'd have conveniently forgotten that, but now you needs be called on it.

Unless I have trouble reading. The headline is contradicted by the story. The headline says that Jackson is an informant in this case, while the story says that he is not. Maybe the headline witers should read the articles.

I hope Obama can stay above this one, I did not vote for the guy

Governor Blago is seeking revenge on Jackson. He knew he was being wire-tapped. He said so in his press conference.

Shame on him for trying to take a good man down.

LOL Jesse Jr. is trying everything to save his skin. First he said he knew nothing now he says he was an informant.

It facts so far appear to suggest simply that Jackson has been caught. Nuff said.

I just can't believe he is an informant....what next? It is like searching for bad news to get rewarded. A decade of being an informant. What's worse extortion or being the snitch? Where are you Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. Well, he already threw you under the bus............

I don't know about you but I feel like this is an act. If he really was an informant, why is he just now waiting to tell us? Why put on the act the other day in his press conference? I think this is just an act to cover his butt, I hope I am wrong but something doesn't seem right.
