Cheney says Clinton just what Obama needs

Cheney is praising Obama's new national security team.

(CNN) - President-elect Barack Obama's national security team got an endorsement from an unlikely source Monday: Vice President Dick Cheney.

In an interview with ABC News, Cheney called the team - to be headed by Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton, National Security adviser Gen. Jim Jones, and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates - "pretty good."

"I must say, I think it's a pretty good team," Cheney said in an interview that aired Tuesday morning. "I think the idea of keeping Gates at Defense is excellent. I think Jim Jones will be very, very effective as the national security adviser."

"While I would not have hired Sen. Clinton, I think she's tough," he also said of Obama's choice for secretary of state. "She's smart, she works very hard and she may turn out to be just what President Obama needs."

The comments come a day after Arizona Sen. John McCain also offered kind words for Obama's national security team, saying it was a group of people he may have chosen himself.

But the seeming praise from high-profile Republicans over Obama's national security team could further rile members of the liberal wing of the Democratic Party - the demographic that strongly supported Obama's candidacy throughout the prolonged Democratic primaries.

"Some on the left say, 'Wait a minute - we voted for change,'" CNN Senior Political Analyst Bill Schneider said.

He's early this year, but it looks like we'll have 6 more weeks of Winter.

Who really cares what Cheney thinks, and what the far left liberals think? This election was won by moderate voters voting for change from the Bush/Cheney terrorist regime. The fact that President elect Obama has put together an incredible group of diverse, strong willed, and highly formidable and motivated people is a testament to who he is going to be. A real "Commander in Cheif"

Hillary clinton as Secretary of State IS a BIG CHANGE from this guy and all his friends! He said so himself ("I would not have hired Senator Clinton")!

When he defends torture, he breaks the law. When he outs CIA agents for political purposes, he breaks the law. And there is so much other stuff that we don't know about because of his secretive nature... which in and of itself may have broken the law.

Cheney must believe that he is somehow above "the law", whatever that means to him. I live with the hope that someday soon he awakes to a knock on the door by a special prosecutor. Then maybe he will begin to understand the meaning of the term "democracy"! Until then, we live in a society where the very powerful get away with "murder"!

After reading these posts, I am amazed at the hypocricy on both sides of the fence. Each side has people demonizing the other side for inciting hate......while their post is full of that same thing. We have a new administration coming in...the vote is a done deal....so let's get over the "bashing" and hope for a better day for the next 4 years. It doesn't do anything good to keep up the hate talk about what happened, didn't happen, who did it, who didn't do it, etc. We need to get back to our own real lives and hope for better days to come in the next 4 years. those 4 years haven't happened yet, so there's nothing to say about them at this point.

To all you Bush/Cheney bashers, yeah you, the kook koolaid drinkers who go on about how they are crooks, criminals, should be in prison, how many times has the United States been attacked since 9/11? Why don't you ask an Iraqi woman who lived in fear before 2002 how she feels now (no, ask a real one, not some stooge your media makes up) – wait, no that's right, women only matter to you if they support your ideas (right Sarah Palin).

And hold on, Barry, The Messiah, The Most Holiest of Holies Obama, spent his campaign bashing the Bush policies and saying how bad the war was, but now that he's gonna be running the show, he's keeping the same people Bush had in the key military positions, and backing off some of his earlier rants. Could it be that when he actually sat in on an intelligence meeting he realized that things were not quite what the libs, kooks, MSNBC, and groups like Code Pink screamed they were? I'm sure you freaks would like to continue living in your fantasy world where everyone plays nice together if they just put down their guns, but maybe, just maybe Barry got a taste of what the grown up world is really like.

But, give him time. Once you all get through to him and remind him that he sold his soul to your special interests he'll go back to being your puppet.

Real change won't start until 2010, when the Republicans gain back control of Congress, and then continue in 2012 when this joker is voted out and America finally accepts you all for the irrelevant kooks you really are.

PE Obama never ran as a left leaning Democrat...that was the Koolaide the Republicans were trying to sell.

From his speech at the 2004 convention to his final ones in his SUCCESSFUL campaign he spoke of ONE America, reaching across the aisle, bringing stakeholders together and reaching consensus/compromise.

The Republicans and the naysayers are the ones who don't get it...American voters spoke and they like his cabinet picks and they want things done!!

Hey Dick, just go take a nice long vacation now... perhaps to Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Somalia, or Sudan. The only thing I'm interested in hearing from you is "Guilty As Charged" broadcast right from the Hague. In the meantime, shut up, go away, and wait quietly for Judgement Day when you will be sent straight to hell for your crimes against humanity and treason against our beloved Constitution. Greedy, arrogant people like you disgust me.

For crying out loud, smarten up people! The "change" that Obama advocates is a change in the *way* things are done, which is determined by the President who sets the agenda. Achieving that "change" does not require that smart, talented people who are good at what they do be discarded in favor of newbies, simply because they've been around Washington for a while.

Lol @ liberal clowns. Obama'mama is picking all centrists. Moderate conservatives are winning the "change battle". These are the same type of people McCain would have chosen.. moderates. So lefty loony liberals get nothing with change. And Obama'mama doesnt even support gay marriage. You all lose...like always. Just keep moving into the poor urban areas so you can feel good about yourself and get robbed. Too all of those who wasted 600 million to bring BHO into the white house... you wasted your money. You get nothing you want. Just Obama leading moderates...no liberals. Hahaha you guys lose
