(CNN) – Who knew being White House press secretary was such a dangerous job?
While President Bush emerged from the weekend's now-infamous shoe attack in Iraq without a scratch, press secretary Dana Perino appears to be a little worse for wear.
Perino was sitting to the side of the president when an Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at him Sunday. She was inadvertently hit by a microphone as the president's Secret Service agents responded and officials scrambled to wrestle the journalist to the ground.

The full effects of the accident were clear at Tuesday's White House daily briefing, where Perino sported a bruise below her right eye and scratch just above the eyebrow.
"The shoe check-in and check-out policy will begin tomorrow," Perino joked.

Sorry to see Dana get a blackeye, but I wonder if it just goes along with the bigger headache she's endured having to work for GWB. He's been an even bigger headache and blackeye to our great nation!
As they well known phrase says .. women, children and press officers .. last!!
Maybe if she had dinner ready on time this wouldn't of happened.
Kendall from Jefferson City – you are right on. What is wrong with you people in this country who condone disrespect to our president. I see many posts on here that say to the Repubs, hey get over it Obama won, and I see posts that say they will support Obama even though they did not vote for him. do you really want this country to end up like it is in other countries. well it is getting there because of the lack of disrespect not only for the pres but for each other. It is pretty disgusting what is happening.
Karma will get you every time. Just ask Obama as his administration blows up before he even gets in the W.H. Priceless!!! LOL!!!
It looks like Mr. shoe tosser might be doing some long jail time. He deservers it for what he did. You people that think he is a hero or think it was funny are sick in the head.
She sits with him, she tries to make him look good to the world, bummer she picked the wrong person to support. It happens. Is she going to invest in sub-prime mortgages now and claim she had no way to know she could lose money?
Wow, half of you bloggers are just plain idiots. Praising someone for being rude and down right hateful to the President of the United States. It doesn't matter if you like Bush or not, he is still your President and he represents America. I see this as a slap in the face to each and every American by an ungrateful individual. This protester did it for attention, which is exactly what he has now. If Saddam was still alive and in power, and he would have done that, he'd have been shot and killed seconds later. His family would probably have been executed as well. He should be happy to be living in a now FREE country where you are allowed to say and do what you want. Shame on you Democrats who think this guy is a hero. What if it was Obama that was there and this guy threw a shoe at him. Would you still be so hateful?
SPC-
If someone threw shoes at Saddam, they would be killed. If someone didn't vote for Saddam, they would be killed. You are an idiot.
Wow, the ultra-right-wing, neo-conservatives are weighing in pretty hard. They turn to others and accuse them of spreading hate. Where were you when Sarah Palin was running her mouth? I don't agree with all the comments from the Democrats, however with all the rougue cowboy, you're-with-us-or-against-us, Bill of Rights ignoring (see Article IV), Constitution disrespecting antics, Democrats and many moderates are celebrating being released from the shackles of Bush-bondage. Now that the rhetoric is on the other foot, the Bushies are loosing their minds. If you can't take the punches, don't throw them!
Personally, I would rather use all our efforts to try to repair our country. It will take all of us to turn this country around to save it from ourselves. You don't have to love the people in government , but if you truly love your country as all the Republicans say they do, let's get busy. We are only as strong as our weakest link!
I just watched the video feed from CNN again – Dana is nowhere near NUMBNUTS. In fact, when the Secret Service guys approaches him, you can clearly hear NUMBNUTS say "I'm alright".
Her balck eye reminds me of the stories I heard about the First Lady during DUBYA's drinking days.
Shoe throwing incident send Republicans down the sewage!
B4 I comment on anything, If the shoe throwing is what is shown on the clips, then I don't see Perino..............
Perino ought to take lessons from her boss. Duck, when a flying object comes toward you.
To "Rick"...get a life, please. Thank you!!
Hey Rick, ever heard of Joe the Plumber???
She got a black eye? The Iraqi people got over 80,000 innocent deaths half of them women and children. Who cares about her black eyes... no one invited her and Bush to Iraq anyhow....
can she talk of microphone not the shoe then!
This man was my hero.... I have greatest respect for his courage and great heart...............
What does someone have to do to get his comment posted on this page? It can't be propriety or relevance. There are some stupid comments here. I cannot figure out why mine are being moderated since they are not inflammatory or hateful.
Maybe this one will get through since it's negative.
Moderator: why are my posts not being accepted???!!!
We through bullets at innocent Iraqis – and this based on a bunch of lies. The minimum they should be allowed to through at Bush are their shoes – Bush deserved what he got.
She can handle it. She's a woman. Chevy tough.
well i guess this man who threw the shoes was tryin to tell mr bush something,,, but bush didnt get it,,,,, go figure,,,,
Many of these comments are so immature. The reporter who threw his shoes...childish! Too bad this guy didn't have enough guts to throw his shoes at the ruthless dictator Sadaam.
I disagree with the poster who says that any insult to Bush is an insult to the rest of our country. NO!
Bush lied us into a war and now he is trying to lie himself into a decent legacy. This Iraqi journalist - like MANY people in this country - think Bush should be seen for what he really is, a war criminal. I'd rather see Bush impeached, but if the Dems can't bring themselves to do that (thanks for trying, Rep. Kucinich), at the very least Bush can dodge some shoes and be internationally dissed.
It seems the emperor has no clothes, but he does now have some extra shoes.
