Blagojevich talks: 'Hang loose'

Blagojevich said he wants to tell his side of the story.
Blagojevich said he wants to tell his side of the story.

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) - Embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich said Wednesday that he "can't wait to begin to tell his side of the story."

In the week since Blagojevich was arrested on federal corruption charges, there have been repeated calls for his resignation.

Although Blagojevich, 52, has not commented publicly on the charges, his lawyer Ed Genson said the governor had done nothing wrong and does not intend to step down.

"I can't wait to begin to tell my side of the story and to address you guys and most importantly the people of Illinois. That's who I'm dying to talk to," Blagojevich told reporters gathered outside his home.

"There's a time and place for everything. That day will soon be here, and you might know more about that today, maybe no later than tomorrow."

Asked what it is he wants to say, Blagojevich told the reporters to "hang loose."

Members of an Illinois House of Representatives panel met Tuesday to determine whether there is a basis to impeach Blagojevich.

If the esteemed governor needs some lawyers to help him fashion his story into a tale of heroism and integrity, I think a few of them that I used are still alive. Of course, it will come with a price. I do not do these things for free.

After over 35 years, I am still free and in office. I can guarantee the governor that, given a little time, these legal eagles can concoct a story that will guarantee him no consequences except one: don't try to run for president.

That part is over. Believe me, I know.

The people can't wait either to hear this one…it's got to be better than what Bill Clinton said when his career was on the line -LIP
    --------------------------------
LIP: Bill Clinton's career on the line? When? His approval rating was above 60% all through the Lweinsky "scandal", the democrats GAINED seats in the 1998 mid term election (in the midst of the "scandal") his wife won a NY senate seat in a landslide and he left office with the highest approval rating of any president in 60 years.

The only thing that was on the line during the Lewinsky witch hunt was the reputation of the republicans – and poetic justice that Livingston and Gingrich were FORCED to resign but Bill Clinton sailed on – more popular than ever!

    Sweet!

I love how he says he can't wait to tell his side, but then doesn't say anything, except "hang loose". There are so many corrupt politicians (democrat and republican) because the voters are too apathetic and our system is so antiquated, it is difficult to learn the truth about politicians, so people vote according to propaganda or party. It's definitely time for citizens to take more notice of political dealings. Get big $$ out of politics and allow for public access channel to air all political campaigning.

Regardless of what his "side" of the story is, Blago needs to resign. If he's innocent, great; he can go to court and prove his innocence. However, the fact the the investigation is going really impedes his ability to do his job. There is a media circus & everyone is calling for his resignation. If he is innocent as he claims, then he should do his ultimate duty & do what's best for his constituents – RESIGN! He cannot govern in this situation.

It's not that he is a democrat, it is that he is a politician. Corruption has no party affiliation.

Maybe he's going to drop some bombshells. Somebody may be scrambling to make sure he either shuts up or says the right things.

I'm leery, but I love my country and therefore believe in its laws. One of those laws states that "All Persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a jury of their peers."

Why is this man still allowed to perform the duties of Governor? This is the perfect example of how screwed up our system is in the Government. ANYTIME, there is even a hint of an official committing a felony, their powers should IMMEDIATELY be suspended until it is resolved. This man is making a joke of our justice system and is a startling preface to what we can expect from the Obama administration for the next 4 years. Chicago corruption at it's best. Any other country and he would have been shot.

    Polly,

"All I want to know is if Obama is lying…again…lol…"

What was he lying about before? Please give proof and a link, don't just give wild accusations or what you heard on Rush

On Obama's 'Fight the Smears' section of his website it claimed that "Barack Obama has never worked for ACORN."

After the internet video of him training ACORN workers it was changed to "Barack Obama has never been hired by ACORN."

There's a lot more evidence than that, but CNN doesn't have room enough for it all.

I don't know what you call that in Columbus but here in Delaware we call that lying.

Illinois was once a well known state thanks to Abe Lincoln. And now poor Abe must be rolling over in his grave because Blagojevich and "Mr Change" (Obama) are ruining the state's reputation
