Clinton Foundation reaches written agreement with Obama camp

CNN has obtained a written memorandum between the Clinton Foundation and the Obama transition team.
CNN has obtained a written memorandum between the Clinton Foundation and the Obama transition team.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – In an effort to clear the way for Sen. Hillary Clinton’s confirmation as secretary of state, CNN has learned that her husband’s foundation has reached a written agreement with the Obama-Biden transition team.

The five-page document states that former President Bill Clinton will not personally solicit funds for the Clinton Global Initiative, a high-profile annual gathering of the Clinton Foundation that solicits contributions from around the world in order to address global challenges like poverty, climate change, and global health issues. In the document, the foundation also agrees to separate the Clinton Global Initiative off from the rest of its operations and incorporate that initiative as a separate entity.

The foundation also agrees to seek review by State Department ethics officials of certain donations to its effort to fight HIV and AIDS throughout the world.

The agreement was turned over to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by the Obama transition team Wednesday and obtained by CNN Thursday.

This is so wrong on so many levels. Ex Pres. Clinton is a known liar, and I don't trust Hillary as she was part of all of the mess in Little Rock Arkansas. Bill will use any means possible to further his business, even if it means selling influence over his wife at our expense.
Where does this "Everything is for sale" madness stop?
    When will people wake up?
What is President Elect Obama thinking?
    Fed up in Michigan.

How can anyone of sound mind not see this as a paper thin charade. Bill will not "personally" solicit donations. Big whoop-de-doo. He will have scores of minions doing his bidding, and then have lavish dinners and retreats with these people, but will not specifically discuss donations. Big whoop-de-doo. He laughs all the way to the bank while liberal idiots back home think that he has done something magnanimous. Big whoop-de-doo.

This just enhances the fact that Hillary should not be SOC. The donor list confirms this. I wonder who really is controlling Obama's decisions? He cannot be trusted either as he has now shown. Send Hillary and Bill back to Arkansas before we have to endure more of their egos and unethical dealings in the name of the good ole USA.

Wow and to think just a few shorts months ago she said he (Obama) might make a good Vice President. Last month she settles for Sec. Of State. I guess Obama brought her down to size and fast.

"Will we ever be rid of the Clintons?????????????????????????????"

I hope not Sara, I pray that they can stay around to continue to do the charity work that Bill has spearheaded. Its certainly refreshing to see how Bill Clinton can do so much good after he left office. Its ashame that people hate the Clintons for no real reason other than they like to repeat the tired rhetoric that sources like Faux News, the Bill O'Reillys, and Rush Limbaughs spew out daily. Maybe they should all donate some more of their time and their money to charity and helping the their local communities. The world would be a lot better place.

Obama will have to watch his back on two of them
Our president elect sure could resent the lyiars he has to deal with in the Clinton saga. They are not trust worthy. Speak with forked tounge.
Any way I hope all goes well for Obama and The American people he
    will be leading.

I can't imagine what the Clinton HIV work has to do with Hillary being Sos. Charitable work around the world by Bill has nothing to do with Hillary, and I am sure they are capable of keeping it seperate. Bill shouldn't have had to make this agreement. Hillary will be a fantastic Sec. of State. She and Bill are very capable of keeping their jobs seperate.

President Clinton I believe realized that it was Hillary's turn and he is doing everything for her. To Sid, "the money" goes for to save peoples' lives all over the world. President elect Obama is the one I don't trust, but I hope for the sake of our country that he will prove me wrong.

Civilization still has so far to go when people who think like this are allowed to buy guns and aren't in a health care facility.

The Clintons have made a mockery of this country. Nothing is honest. BO is part of the pattern. The more things change the more they stay the same. Anyone who trusts the Clintons (and now BO) is a fool. They don't get their hands dirty, they send their flunkies to do that. The US is going down the tubes.

This is all a bunch of junk, did anybody ever hear of Laura Bush being vetted to this extent or Michelle Obama. Bill is nothing but a spouse in this situation , he is not going to do the job, she is. I've never heard of any of the other appointments spouses going under such scrutiny. I'd be willing to bet that most people on here can't name the other members spouses names. Is this fair?

Seriously, the Saudis have got so much money it's nice to see some of it going toward world health and poverty issues rather than on another few Rolls Royces. If Bill Clinton was taking this money for himself it would be a different thing but for goodness sake people, the money is coming from the ridiculously rich and going to the unimaginably poor ... didn't Robin Hood used to get cheered for that sort of thing?

This agreement is lame compared with the contract I had with my kids for keeping their rooms clean. Bill doesn’t have to ‘personally’ solicit for money. We have already told the world Bill is for sale and we have to pay back later. This agreement lacks specific penalties for when the Clintons decide to blow off Obama. We all remember Bill Clinton in court. He knows every loophole in the law and that’s a compliment.

Warren Buffett said when you make a deal, you have to know the price of the deal before you sign it. What is Obama’s Plan B before inviting the Clintons into his administration? I hope I am wrong, but it could be Hillary’s potential for a future presidency that attracts all these millions of foreign donations and speaking fees. Why haven’t any foreign entities given President Carter any money? Is he not as humane or hopeful as Bill? It may change if Mrs. Carter or Ms. Amy Carter runs for any high public office.

President-elect Obama is very intelligent in taking in people from outside the party, but he should be careful with this light-weight agreement.

Isn't it nice to see the list out. Now critics can criticize to their hearts content. But every other administration of either party would have kept this agreement (if there was one) and the list a secret. Bravo Obama!

I admire Barack Obama but I'm afraid he will eventually regret his involvement with the Clintons. Hillary as Secretary of State? I remember her campaign comment about obliterating Iran. Brilliant statesmanship.
The stories about her terrible treatment of Secret Service personnel
say volumes about her character. And the Marc Rich pardon says as much about Bill.
