Clinton Foundation reaches written agreement with Obama camp

CNN has obtained a written memorandum between the Clinton Foundation and the Obama transition team.
CNN has obtained a written memorandum between the Clinton Foundation and the Obama transition team.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – In an effort to clear the way for Sen. Hillary Clinton’s confirmation as secretary of state, CNN has learned that her husband’s foundation has reached a written agreement with the Obama-Biden transition team.

The five-page document states that former President Bill Clinton will not personally solicit funds for the Clinton Global Initiative, a high-profile annual gathering of the Clinton Foundation that solicits contributions from around the world in order to address global challenges like poverty, climate change, and global health issues. In the document, the foundation also agrees to separate the Clinton Global Initiative off from the rest of its operations and incorporate that initiative as a separate entity.

The foundation also agrees to seek review by State Department ethics officials of certain donations to its effort to fight HIV and AIDS throughout the world.

The agreement was turned over to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by the Obama transition team Wednesday and obtained by CNN Thursday.

Whenever a written agreement is required to hire an appointee, run don't walk to the nearest exit!!! Her highness and her unfaithful other should be sent packing. Our new President should be concentrating upon America, not the Clintons as it always becomes a nasty habit. President Obama should simply revoke her nomination for the good of our nation!!!

Change?! We don't need no stinkin' change! I guess Obama hangin' that for sale sign draped over his 'Presidential' seal is some real change for the far left wing though.

funny, how this comes out when he's lookining for cover on the Warren topic. Same old politician bait and switch...he used his minions as the bait and the push for power as the switch.

You voted, you get the blame.

Unbelievable. we had 8 years of garbage governing and people are whining about the Clinton's personal lives, again. Get over it.

She's not the president. Obama is. She works for Obama. Both work for us, the people of the USA. Understand? Together, they will do a million times better than Bush and Rice did, so knock it off.

The Clintons are soooo connected! What's worse: Hillary as president or Hillary pulling Obama's strings. Either way, we're screwed.

The teaser headline "cuts a deal" sure gives a negative slant, whereas the actual article describes an agreement that is open and above-board - and very logical. I don't think the teaser was up to your best journalistic standards.

Why are so many people so upset? In what way does any of this affect YOUR life? It doesn't. Worry about your AmEx bill or paying the kid's dentist or making the house payment. Let those who are qualified figure it out. Anyone who spends time posting on website 'comments' is either lazy or not too bright. Me included.

It needed to be done, Obama wanted transparency from the get go and this is a good start.
There can't be anything lurking in the background that could come back to haunt the Obama administration....so it's a good start I feel.

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman–Monica Lewinsky."
"I will not solicit funds for my foundation–Clinton Foundation"

"It depends what the definition of 'is' is."
"It depends what the definition of 'agreement' is."

Yeah, good luck with this one, Barak.

Slick Willie – "I'm rebuilding the Legacy of my Presidency......to the highest bidder!!!"

SoS Ozillary – "There will not be a conflict of interest with my responsibilites as SoS and the Clinton Foundation!!!"

Slick Willie – "EVERYONE of the largest donors to the Clinton Foundation do not expect any political favors in return for their donations!!!"

SoS Ozillary – "I will be transparent with President Elect O'Hussein about every activity taking place with the Clinton Foundation's fund raising!!!"

EVERYONE THAT BELIEVES THE ABOVE, DRINK YOUR KOOLAID, LAY DOWN AND WAIT FOR THE TRAIN WRECK THAT'S COMING!!!

My concerns ARE more with where the money goes, AFTER it's gets into Slick Willie's pocket, AND WHAT contributions have the Clinton's made to the Clinton Foundation???

Deals, deals, deals! Politics as usual.

I think the ONLY squeaky-clean candidate in the entire presidential race was Sarah Palin! She'll sure get my vote in 2012!

When will you fools stop putting your trust into these politicians? If you believe for 1 minute that BO or the Clintons give a darn about you then you are just dumb.

We are being used by both the Dems and Repubs to give them a cheese lifestyle. Both would rather sell you and I under the table, lie, cheat, steal, and just about anything else to stay in power.

You want change, vote 3rd party candidates. Otherwise, its just a slow ride down.

Obama and Clinton created this document and the press stir around it specifically to give cover to their activities. The document provides a definition of right vs. wrong in their personal money-making endeavors while she sits on the Cabinet. That way they can engage in almost any other money making idea secure that if it isn't banned by the document, it has virtually been blessed by the public due to all of the press coverage on it.

There is a lesson here for any manager who has taken on a difficult employee that they inherited from another manager. Scope out in writing what they will do and what they will not and have them sign it – then file it away. If they misbehave, you already have their head on a platter. But most will behave well knowing you have the document. They may even become loyal followers over time as they get to know you.

However, I doubt cabinet members really work closely with the president. They probably meet weekly and otherwise never see each other.
