Spending on Palin's clothes, makeup and hair made headlines during the campaign.

(CNN) - Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s biggest mistake of the presidential campaign: not enough time with the media, the Alaska governor said in an interview published Monday.

“The biggest mistake made was that I could have called more shots on this: the opportunities that were not seized to speak to more Americans via media,” she told Human Events.

“I was not allowed to do very many interviews, and the interviews that I did were not necessarily those I would have chosen. But I was so thankful to have the opportunity to run with John McCain that I was not going to argue with the strategy decisions that some of his people were making regarding the media contacts.

“But if I would have been in charge, I would have wanted to speak to more reporters because that’s how you get your message out to the electorate.

Palin also said she was uncomfortable leaving the campaign’s management to people she did not know well. “I was in a campaign in which I did not know the people individually running the campaign. So I had to put my life, my career, my family, and my reputation in their hands. That’s kind of a scary thing to do when you don’t know the people you are working with,” said the Alaska governor.

Palin has been the target of tough criticism, much of it anonymous, from senior McCain aides since the end of the campaign.

Sarah Palin should go back to school. Take ADULT CONTINUATION English courses and learn how to string a sries of words together to make a correct and intellegent sentance.. SARAH you are soooo STUPID or is it just palin DUMB

Stevenson Democrat   December 22nd, 2008 6:30 pm ET

She's more to be pitied than censured. How cynical of the GOP king makers to dump this fading beauty queen on McCain. But how fortunate for our country that she WILL NOT be a heart beat from the presidency after Jan.21. I think the real story would involve how she was able to dodge English 101 while enrolled in one of the countless colleges she attended.

Forrest   December 22nd, 2008 6:29 pm ET

Who cares? She is a joke and will not be the future of the party. There are some really good young republicans, but she just does not have it.

Dan   December 22nd, 2008 6:29 pm ET

Matt, study your history before babbling. Americans, even during our revolution were not all that "civilized". On that not, has she done any nude shots?

Chris Smith   December 22nd, 2008 6:29 pm ET

The problem was not Palin – it was McCain and the GOP – they all need to be fired, everyone of them. Seriously, can any of you beleive that we actually elected Obama? He has no more experiance than Palin and the next 4 years are goign to be nasty.

Cristine C.   December 22nd, 2008 6:28 pm ET

I love being able to read these blogs to get my laughs for the day. You people that love this woman and say that she will be elected in 2012 are HYSTERICAL!

KJL   December 22nd, 2008 6:28 pm ET

She's too full of herself to realize what a terrible impression she left on all but the most fervent Republicans and religious fanatics. I'm not a Democrat, but I know a fool when I see one.

pete   December 22nd, 2008 6:27 pm ET

yeh sarah, you really nailed your interviews, it would be very hard to top them.

The Election Is Over   December 22nd, 2008 6:27 pm ET

CNN, Please stop with the stories about this LOSER! We don't care any more. Let her go back to Alaska and disappear. Or at least maybe go back to the doublewide and fry something up.

Shawn   December 22nd, 2008 6:27 pm ET

The US biggest regret is that John McCain picked her period. Her 15 minutes was up a long time ago. Stop profiling her CNN. She's dumb and not worth the story lines!

I finally figured out how this lady was elected Gov. in Alaska. The entire state is high off of drugs her in-laws are pushing. Now it all makes sense. Who is Sarah Palin? What are her values? Is she palling around with drug dealers? Sweet!!!

Jason in New Mexico   December 22nd, 2008 6:26 pm ET

It would just further show us how unqualified she really was. She thinks that the Vice President controls the senate, that Africa is a country, and that having a foreign leader fly over your airspace qualifies as foreign policy experience. This lady in office would have been one of the worst mistakes our country would have ever made. She makes George Bush look like a genius. Thank god our country got it right this election, electing someone super intelligent who has a degree from Harvard.

I'm sure Tina Fey wishes Palin had done more interviews too! COMEDY!

Lady , if you had done more media interviews, you would have screwed them up by saying MORE stupid things and then blaming the questioner or by 'lamenting the media filter' which made you sound like the idiot that you are.

Being a republican that was totally against Obama and just about every solution he has, Palin was still a bad choice.

McCain of 2000 would have been a good choice, McCain of 2008 was someone I did not recognize.

The republicans missed the message, trickle down economics works when congress let's it happen. congress screws things up when they think they are smarter than everyone else and try to fix the natural swings of a our economy. Then things really get screwed up because they break something else and it's a bigger mess. Just look at what's happening now. It will come back worse then when it started. Clinton's idea to stir the housing market by reducing qualifications of buyers crashed the banking industry which is why we are where we are today. Yet all these democrats still belive he was the greatest president ever before Obama. Let's just wait to see how badly his decisions come back to haunt us in the future.

Too bad there Palin couldn't take the message to the people and McCain just turned ugly and Obama had too much money. first time ever the presidency was bought!

Mike from CT   December 22nd, 2008 6:24 pm ET

The reason she wasn't "allowed" to speak to the media is because she's unable to formulate a coherent sentence. It's like her mind is saying one thing, her mouth is saying another, and she's never able to get the two in sync. I constantly have to read or playback what she says 3 or 4 times just to figure out what she was trying to say.

Barbara   December 22nd, 2008 6:24 pm ET

Would I vote for her? No. But I cannot imagine what a snore the race would have been without Sarah Palin. It had stopped being exciting with Hillary's exit. Palin/Fey made it fun.

Jayne   December 22nd, 2008 6:24 pm ET

More media interviews = more designer clothing from the RNC. By the way, was the $150,000 in new threads really given to charity, or was it returned to Nordstrom's, etc. for refunds as "not a good fit?"

IF she had more interviews those without internet access, like Mississippi, Alabama, and many of the other "Red States" may have been more informed about their decision..

IF I had 70 more legs, I could be the Rockettes.
We didn't/ don't need anymore interviews, thank you. Yours were enough Sarah!!

Don in Florida   December 22nd, 2008 6:23 pm ET

Palin was in over her head. she shouldnt have accepted the VP nomination. I'd be very suprised if she ever gets the Republican Nomination for President. I'd be suprised if she even wins reelection in Alaska. I think it's called the Peter Principle. Where people rise to their level of incompetence.

JoePub   December 22nd, 2008 6:23 pm ET

I'm going to approach this answer in a current trendy Democratic comment style. "You Sarah Palin Haters need to be quiet". LOL, Where is "Haters" in the dictionary?

Paul DObro   December 22nd, 2008 6:23 pm ET

I gotta some questions for ya:

Why was Bristol out of school for 5 months for Mono? And why is the "first time" mother now late when most teen moms have babies premature?

Here is your chance to make a stand on your victims paying for rape kits – Do you support the government giving rape kits to victims that includes Plan B contraception?

What is the appropriate level of interaction between a spouse and the elected official's job? Is it OK for them to call meetings, sit in on meetings, and make policy decisions?

WHAt was you GPA and why did you attend 4 schools and take 6 years to get your degree?

Angie   December 22nd, 2008 6:23 pm ET

Well sarah i the problem was once you opened your mouth it was game over. My dear you sound and talk like a 10 year old. So it not that you should have been more open with the press. The truth is you were in way over your head. You are no more ready for national office then your daughter piper.

Grant   December 22nd, 2008 6:22 pm ET

I wonder when she will issue a pardon for her future son-in-laws mother. Felony Drug Charges. I wonder how that will sit with Joe Six pack.

What a dizel. Hopefully she will stay in Alaska forever,,,We were lucky to dodge that one.

Jim   December 22nd, 2008 6:22 pm ET

Maybe she should do more interviews on her tough stances – abortion, gay rights, etc and the face questions and explain how she instills values into her own family – that seems to be a challenge for her. Example, the pregnant teenager daughter whose future mother-in-law just got busted for trafficking oxycontin. This woman is an absolute joke. Why is it that the religious right can't see through her?

PL   December 22nd, 2008 6:22 pm ET

Hey Matt, Palins in-laws are selling something that might help you out... The lady is an idiot, now get over it.

SOMEONE PLEASE THROW ANOTHER PAIR OF SHOES @ GW!!!   December 22nd, 2008 6:22 pm ET

........."and the interviews that I did were not necessarily those I would have chosen" – Sarah Pain-lin

so your multiple staged interviews with FALSENEWS, Greta Van Susteren, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh were not necessarily those you would have chosen, huh?!

PUHLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE...tell that to the birds and to those rednecks and right-wing blowhards that listen to you anywayz!

You said enough during your klan rallies so-called campaign, and Americans DID NOT like you low level intelligence....

Now you're free to pall around with your daughter, Bristol baby's daddy drug-dealer mom!

Americans do not want to hear anymore of your unintelligible gibberish in the media....enough already!

John KeatingJim   December 22nd, 2008 6:22 pm ET

I wish she had done more interviews. Many, many more. Oh what fun that would have been. (And who said that the media was biased against her–clearly they were very, very easy on her, knowing that she was exposing herself.)

big d   December 22nd, 2008 6:22 pm ET

I think it is time to start a Sarah Palin bashing club. Sit around , drink beer and maybe read her soon to be published book.

McCain & Palin are not dumb!

Those who voted for them are - same folks that voted for Bush (dumb draft dodger) and Cheney (crook - the white version of OJ Simpson) in '00/'04!

The problem with dumb people is that they don't know they are dumb!

I voted for Reagan and used to support McCain!

Cindy   December 22nd, 2008 6:21 pm ET

I agree. I wish the McCain campaign let her loose from the getgo. Her candidacy would have been a heck of a lot more interesting. She went weeks and weeks of simply reading the same stump speech, without giving the media the opportunity for her to clarify herself. What a lost opportunity that was, to see the real, raw Sarah Palin. By the time she started talking, she was already overproduced, there were obviously, too much information stuffed in her brain. We will never know exactly who she was when we first met her on the national stage.

Only a few little interviews were needed for America to realize you were WAY OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE!!!

If you would have done more interviews-you would have just given us more to make fun of!

Get off of your high horse, Palin!

G   December 22nd, 2008 6:20 pm ET

Yes this was your problem lol.

Don in Florida   December 22nd, 2008 6:19 pm ET

They say that Bush kept us safe and they try to blame 9/11 on Clinton. Hmmmm....does that mean if we get attacked during Team Obama's reign we can blame it on Bush? We can say that at least Obama kept us safe too right? I wonder if Gore won in 2000 would it have happened? And if he won and it did happen, would the right wing blame him or Clinton. I bet they would be singing a different tune if that were the case.

Buster   December 22nd, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Does she mean real interviews with real reporters, or the typical Bush-type fluff setup with preset questions? Because we all saw how badly she fared in real interviews. This is just another example of her incredible hubris that led her to think she could fill the VP role. She is probably confusing her ability to incite trained crowds of GOP lemmings at rallies where she could simply recite her scripted talking points with the ability to actually answer pertinent questions by real (read: NOT Fox) journalists.

From the West   December 22nd, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Really tired of Palin and her inability to be accountable for herself.
Please, stop doing stories on her. She is not relevant in national politics. Let's see if she can properly take care of the State of Alaska.

John Keating   December 22nd, 2008 6:18 pm ET

The consultants were very wise not to let her be in contact with the media, as it would have exposed her lack of knowledge of the issues even more.

Cynthia a conservative voter   December 22nd, 2008 6:16 pm ET

Sarah Palin...Just shut up. You are an idiot. Just stop talking and making excuses. You were adraid to talk with the media. And when you did..."I can see Russia is my foreign policy", Which nespapers do you read? "I read all the Newspapers" Gee Wizz, Shucks is old. Give it up and go help bailout your pregnant daughter's boyfriends mother who is in trouble for having drugs.

Sue   December 22nd, 2008 6:16 pm ET

Biggest regret should be not studying your English grammar lessons in 6th grade. Second biggest should be not studying current events in 2007. Third should be thinking you were qualified for a major public office just because you were mayor of a city smaller than most boroughs in, say, the area around Pittsburgh. Fourth should be winning the gubernatorial election and proceeding immediately to work on Ethics Violations 101.

Let's see....well, that's enough for now.

Buh-bye.

Bruce Wolf   December 22nd, 2008 6:14 pm ET

And by that I mean, her ineptitude was evident enough. Just go away now, Mrs. Palin.

Fred the moderate   December 22nd, 2008 6:14 pm ET

More interviews? She wouldn't answer the questions when asked, chooseing to ran off in some unknow direction. This even happened during the debate – if you could call it that! But when she did answer, she made no sense or had no clue. More interviews, please!

Jeremy   December 22nd, 2008 6:14 pm ET

Go back to alaska.

Melissa   December 22nd, 2008 6:14 pm ET

I don't know if more interviews would have helped her, at all. The few interviews that we DID see were pretty ridiculous. She needed more time with her running mate, trying to find out what her party actually should stand for...and frankly, learning the government and how it works.

Susan   December 22nd, 2008 6:13 pm ET

Sarah Palin had A LOT of interviews that were never given any coverage by the MSM. She was engaging and knowledgable in all of them. In fact, the Katie Couric interview was never fully aired. They cut out the best parts and only showed them on the internet. You guys are forgetting that the woman only had two months to prove herself to a media that was hellbent on destroying her. Obama had well over a year, and made his shared of stupid gaffes. Palin will be back in 2012.

fmjk   December 22nd, 2008 6:13 pm ET

Oh pul-ease! They sent her out for the easiest of puff pieces, the Katy Couric interview, and she couldn't link together enough sentences to survive even that. Will this woman ever learn it wasn't someone else's fault?

Do you really need to eat the whole cake to see what its tastes like?

I am still in shock that McCain chose her to be V.P. Never mind the fact that she was totally in over her head, but the woman was simply not able to speak in front of the microphone on any issues. All she ever did was repeat talking points. Her comments on foreign policy and Russian air space were hysterical and yet so incredibly ignorant.
Anyone that takes anytime to research any US or global issue in this campaign knows more than this woman. I think she is a nice lady with good intentions, but she is about as persuasive as a penny saver...

Sarah, more interviews? Your media interviews should be reserved for those nights when people are depressed and sad because people do get a kick and full belly laughs out of your low IQ answers.

Didn't it take you 6 universities in 5 years to graduate college? It might take you 6 more years to speak English that communicates your points instead of rubbish!

Is it possible to charge someone with being stupid and send them to Prison??? If so she could get life.

New Yorker   December 22nd, 2008 6:03 pm ET

The media is largely responsible for the damage done to Palin.

Nancy   December 22nd, 2008 6:03 pm ET

I sure hope to see her running in 2012. What a great president she will make!

treegeek   December 22nd, 2008 6:03 pm ET

Geno – when running for office of Pres or VP don't you think you you should at least know the countries in NAFTA or that Africa is not a country. Really, better vp than anyone she has been Gov. of a state with less people than many big cities in the lower 48 before that mayor of po dunk alaska pop 2000 but she would be a better vp than biden... WAKE UP!!!

Karen   December 22nd, 2008 6:03 pm ET

They had to control her mouth, everytime she opened her mouth she said something stupid.

OhioMom   December 22nd, 2008 6:02 pm ET

Ye-ah, like that would have helped......

Shadia   December 22nd, 2008 6:02 pm ET

More interviews?? why so she could look even more dumb than she did.
If she would have had more speaches, Mccain wouldn't have had a chance at all...

Go back to the ice bergs were you belong.

Deb   December 22nd, 2008 6:01 pm ET

I cannot for the life of me understand why some people have to be so mean. Palin was thrown overboard without a lifejacket by the McCain folks. Does that make her crazy? No. Does that make her a bimbo? No. But, evidently, her time in the spotlight has turned some other people into raging bigots.

CF   December 22nd, 2008 6:01 pm ET

This woman is a narcissist, diva, full-of-herself....and is not in the political world for any other reason than to promote herself. Truly one of the most selfish people I have ever seen or heard!

Chitown Jason   December 22nd, 2008 5:58 pm ET

She should really take a long look in the mirror. Her inability to answer questions intelligently was her biggest disadvantage in the campaign, and yet she thinks she should have her weaknees been exposed even more? Absurd.

Doreen Augusta Maine   December 22nd, 2008 5:58 pm ET

Palin loves to criticize other people. Why not stand in front of a mirror and admit to yourself that you are responsible for yourself.

A great deal of the comments left here point out Sarah's supposed inability to construct a grammatically correct sentence. It appears that most of you Sarah bashers have been unable to construct a grammatically correct sentence yourselves, from what I've just read.

You people are pathetic.

Whenever cnn.com has a story about Sarah Palin and opens it up to reader comments, you can be sure the Palin-haters will furiously rush to their keyboards and spew out the usual insults and vitriol. I can almost hear the gnashing of their teeth as they angrily type away.

...O.K. its official the media cannot get over Palin! The rest of the country has but they are refusing to let it go. Congrats CNN...

Gerry in Va. for Obama.   December 22nd, 2008 5:56 pm ET

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, get over yourself honey. It's probably a good thing you didn't give more interviews. I'm sure John McCain only had so much patients with and for you no matter what he says in public. Before you were chosen, by whomever chose you, at least McCain had a fighting chance, but after you baby, it was all washed up and IF you had opened your mouth any more then you did we would have for sure known you were completey daft instead of just thinking you were an idiot. Sarah, I'm sure you heard about fooling some of the people some of the time and so on? Well dear, there's no fooling us now. We've seen you for what you are and there ain't no changing that, just like there ain't no changing the election...

Kim   December 22nd, 2008 5:55 pm ET

I'm still reeling at the visual of her on SIxty Minutes or Meet the Press.

B   December 22nd, 2008 5:54 pm ET

Is it just me or did the McCain team have a GOOD REASON for not letting her speak? She seems like a nice lady, but a maroon. Sorry to be so blunt, but those Katie Couric interviews were painful to watch. If she did not have things memorized she could not even string sentences together. She had no place running for office.

Again, it's not really her fault – it's McCain's fault for picking her – and I'm sure he'll regret it for the rest of his life. I'd feel bad for him, but I think he put the contry in serious danger by picking her, and such wrecklessness and opportunism has to be condemned.

strong   December 22nd, 2008 5:54 pm ET

Not enough interviews? If my memory serves me correctly, she was shielded from the media ALOT, since she was inexperienced and couldn't put 2 sentences together. Comical.

Voter   December 22nd, 2008 5:53 pm ET

Don't worry, Sarah. We saw MORE than enough of you!

Phoenix   December 22nd, 2008 5:52 pm ET

Palin killed it for women. From here on in, any woman who runs will face INTENSE scrutiny because she proved that she was not willing to learn and hard to train. Unfortunately, when one woman screws up, we all do.

Lyndon from CA   December 22nd, 2008 5:52 pm ET

Caribou Barbie was kept under wraps by her handlers for good reason. As most of America discovered during the few interviews that she did give, she is an absolute AIR HEAD. I hope to see her under the mistletoe in two days, as she rides shutgun with Santa and the rest of the reindeer. LOL

ConsiderThis, FL   December 22nd, 2008 5:51 pm ET

PJP in OK   December 22nd, 2008 5:50 pm ET

Sarah, I for one think you did a great job. Being the stand up Christian that you are and not being ashamed of what is going on in your family shows me that you have high morals. Be patient, your time will come and all who have bad mouthed you will be sorry!

treegeek   December 22nd, 2008 5:49 pm ET

Sarah Palin too stupid to know how duh duh duh dumb she is. Hey I know go have another baby then you and that moron kid of yours can raise them together

Geno   December 22nd, 2008 5:48 pm ET

She would do the interviews, then immediately accuse the interviewer of starting the "Gotcha" questions. But isn't every question that you get a Gotcha question, because there is no way you can know what you will be asked. Unless you're a psychic. But look at the brightside, I think she would have been a better VP than Cheney.

Perusing-Through   December 22nd, 2008 5:48 pm ET

She is right, no questions about that. PE-Obama proved Palin correct with his 22-month long campaign. There were a ton of media interviews during that 22-month run which allowed the nation to get comfortable with Obama. But Palin is missing the "elephant in the room". Her handlers COULD NOT let her do too many media interviews the way she did with Katie Couric. Palin is extremely light on both national and international political contents. Palin is terrible when it comes to details on the domestic front. And her audience and message is relatively narrow which consisted primarily of just far-right Republicans. More media interviews are a good thing as long as you have something intelligent to say, and not be as divisive and nasty as Palin portrayed.

Robin   December 22nd, 2008 5:48 pm ET

For God Sake, leave the woman alone.

She is a pretty good govenor (80%+) and while her run as VP had many bumps, she was not as protected as our PE.

Most of the media coverage, especially CNN, was some of the most biased reporting I have seen in my life.

wibadger   December 22nd, 2008 5:46 pm ET

Go away! More interviews would have shown her to be dumber yet.

Perusing-Through   December 22nd, 2008 5:45 pm ET

Just what she needed more interviews to add fuel to her self destructing fire....

Carl   December 22nd, 2008 5:44 pm ET

Sarah regrets not having enough media exposure? I think this might be kind of wrong. I don't think she was at all ready for the media. I think it is politically expedient for her to say this now but at the time it was far from the case.

Vito   December 22nd, 2008 5:44 pm ET

really? i wasn't: I (Palin) wish I actually knew something..... anything

Cary Lacayo   December 22nd, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Palin still in lala land...Those interviews were sensored/monitored for a reason and I am giving the republicans some credit for having a brain to keep it that way. Maybe, they should have aloud her to commuicate more via the media which would have saved Mr. Obama time and effort towards becoming the next P....

She looks good in her photo ops though, for a middle aged women, I will give her that...

lovable liberal   December 22nd, 2008 5:43 pm ET

The Sultan of Spinach   December 22nd, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Go, Sarah, go. We need a candidate like her to put an end to American Conservatism once and for all. That political "philosophy" has done a lot of damage to America. We can't afford any more.

That goes for Sweet lips Sarah too.

thierry of Montreal   December 22nd, 2008 5:41 pm ET

I think Sarah Palin should be more prepared with media interviews. It's not quantitative but qualitative!. The way she blink her eyes, and not knowing exactly what the responsibilities/roles of a vice president are does not help her at all. Have one or more interviews with the same erroneous answers or pretentious attitude, would bring her down and the GOP quicker. It comes down to the basics, get prepared before an interview and be humble, but don't play the opportunist card nor try to polarize the situation. Don't try to divide and conquer but win the heart and the brain of the american voters of the new area.

All the media interviews still wouldn't have got her into the White House the American people seen right though her as a fake.

G.R.I.T.S. - Girl Raised in the South   December 22nd, 2008 5:37 pm ET

She still doesn't make any sense. Although I must agree with several of you that more interviews would have meant more laughs (more material for SNL, too!). I just don't know what is wrong with this lady. Narcissism? I, too, am curious why the baby hasn't been born yet when it was due days ago and why no marriage has taken place. I think, folks, that we were fed a bunch of lies.

Charles Thompson   December 22nd, 2008 5:37 pm ET

The above post is not a constructive conversation. It shows why Obama got elected.

Irma in North Carolina   December 22nd, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Sarah when you did an interview all you wanted to was bash Obama and Biden. They were scared how you would act. Especially after the hate rallys that you gave and endangered Obamas life. And now John says he doesnt know if he would support you if you ran in2012, he says there are plenty of other good governers out there, so that should tell you something. You were a disgrace to the american people only a few republicans liked you at one time. If you run again in 2012 the republican party will be of fewe people. Neither you or John had fairy good moral values.

Brian   December 22nd, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Yeah...more interviews would have helped. Would have helped those who actually thought it was a good idea to vote for you to finally get a clue. Apparently the few you did give were not enough for clueless.

Jimmy -Gilbert, AZ   December 22nd, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Palin needs to run for the AK senate seat opening in 2010 then on to the White House in 2012!

Palin/Rice 2012!

Jennifer Collins   December 22nd, 2008 5:34 pm ET

Hello!!!! The biggest mistake was John McCain choosing her. She was not qualified and is still not qualified to be V.P.

I'd love to know what interviews she would have chosen. An interview is an interview (not counting Sean Hannity and his friends at Fox) ... she didn't know the answers to simple questions. And seeing Russia from your porch does not mean that you are experienced in foreign policy. Mocking your opponent's community organizing does not make you qualified, lying about your opposition does not make you qualified, winking at the camera does not make you qualified, talking to foreign leaders about their children do not make you qualified, having a handicap baby does not make you qualified, and need I go on.

Blunckhouse   December 22nd, 2008 5:34 pm ET

Forget the things that are behind, yesterday is gone, tomorrow is another
day. Palin, remember you said :" it is not your time ",
so start preparing if you really believe there is an appointed time.

make haste slowly.it is better to be ready and not have opportunity, than
to have opportunity and not be ready.

James   December 22nd, 2008 5:32 pm ET

It is the height of delusion or an undiagnosed personality disorder for her to believe that more exposure and off the cuff interviews would have made her look better.

There were NO TRICK questions in the Couric interview.

Anytime a comedian (Tina Fey) decides that your verbatim comments cannot possibly be improved on by a comedic writer, you are a joke.

She may be a nice person. But she made her mark by throwing malatov cocktails at Obama and flaming hate, distrust, and frustration. What she did not do was articulate views about policy that would advance America.

And quite frankly, if the insight she displayed in her interviews is even remotely accurate, she has nothing to offer.

Stick to FOX news for interviews and puff pieces.

Jeff   December 22nd, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Perhaps is she weren't an unmitigated disaster in her initial interviews, she would have been allowed to do more. Then again, when you have absolutely nothing going on above the neck, you can't be anything but an unmitigated disaster.

CMG   December 22nd, 2008 5:31 pm ET

Sarah: Doing more media interviews could only have proven what many of us already knew, you weren't VP material...Not even close. Don't you get it? You took John McCain down even more quickly than George Bush. Overconfidence is never healthy. That book deal that you are working on should maybe highlight that flaw. Stay in Alaska – hopefully, your children will not have access to the history books that attempt to explain who you are and what you are about.

Tina - Sacramento, CA   December 22nd, 2008 5:30 pm ET

When Sarah was first introduced to America, I though wow a female vp...then she opened her mouth...That's all it took for me to see that she was not ready for the job, I prayed day in and out up until the election that she would not become our next possible President of the United States if something god forbid would have happened to Senator McCain...they both demonstrated nasty politics..

In Houston, TX   December 22nd, 2008 5:30 pm ET

Now, if you would kindly exit the public stage left, we have more important things to concentrate on that fall outside of your mental capacities

Sarah   December 22nd, 2008 5:29 pm ET

siobhanoc   December 22nd, 2008 5:29 pm ET

Yeah because letting Americans hear more from her would have said the McCain campaign.

Beyond selecting her, letting her speak at all to the press was one of their many mistakes.

HouseDiva   December 22nd, 2008 5:29 pm ET

Sarah Palin = shiny object

Dj   December 22nd, 2008 5:29 pm ET

She should be GRATEFUL that someone was looking out for her best interests... that is, keeping her lack of knowledge hidden from as many voters as possible.

When a person is as DUMB as she is, the best thing to do on that person's behalf is keep them from talking (and exposing their stupidity).

“I was in a campaign in which I did not know the people individually running the campaign. So I had to put my life, my career, my family, and my reputation in their hands. That’s kind of a scary thing to do when you don’t know the people you are working with,” said the Alaska governor.

Huh? She wasn't properly vetted. How on earth could she know any of them when she was an unknown? This woman was totally out-of-her-league.

As far as interviews go, the less she had the better. She still doesn't get. How sad.

palin is either ignorant or has alzheimer, because as far as we remember it was the interviews that showed what kind of knowledge this person has.

Really? Again? How does she keep coming back?

Sarah...listen. You actually did yourself (and the public) a huge favor by talking to the press less. Those few media moments were painful to say the least. My side still hurts from laughing so hard.

Why does she keep coming back to say the same things over and over again?

John   December 22nd, 2008 5:20 pm ET

Sarah's biggest regret is not enough "conservative media interviews". Sarah doesn't want the country to know the real her, just the "image her".

If she wants to get more media exposure, tell her to go on the Keith Obermann show or perhaps interview with Rachael Maddow that will get her exposed.

Paul Wice   December 22nd, 2008 5:19 pm ET

Nothing would have changed the outcome of the election given the charisma of Obama and his deep pockets. In fact more Palin interviews might have made the outcome even worse!!

I think Palin's biggest regret WAS that she did TV interviews..

Uncle Fester   December 22nd, 2008 5:17 pm ET

I'd like to do more of these open forums, she says, "Without the filter of the main stream media telling viewers what they have just heard."

You mean THAT media, Sarah? You mean the one that everytime you opened your mouth in front of, you made a fool of yourself? Just checkin'.

Once you vote Black   December 22nd, 2008 5:16 pm ET

Perhaps if she did not talk like a nervous 7th grader and could convey coherent streams of thought the old one would not have tried to hide her. She talks like a cyclone and it is impossible to know what she is trying to say let alone if you agree with her. She speaks in code and only the far right can understand that imbecile. The only reason Biden did not go after her is that he knew she could do not harm. And Obama did not go after her because he did not want to be seen as attacking a white women.

longhorns4life   December 22nd, 2008 5:14 pm ET

i'm trying hard not to be so negative about her. she seems like a nice, albeit naive woman. but hearing her speak or even reading her words in print cause such a revulsion in me that it is hard to control. it's the same way i've felt about bush for the last 6 years. i'm thankful that bush will be going away soon. i just wish palin would stop talking.

Hurry Up 1/20/09   December 22nd, 2008 5:13 pm ET

Dayahka   December 22nd, 2008 5:13 pm ET

Her obvious lack of qualifications, knowledge, and mental acuity would have been even more obvious had she done more media interviews. As it is, she probably did too many, for she became within weeks the laughing stock of the country.

WOW! She is still just as naive as she was before she was picked to run for VP! The problem, Gov. Palin, is that you showed in your interviews that you were not prepared to be vice president. If you had done more interviews, then everybody would have realized it, not just the 53% of us who voted for Obama-Biden.

I completely agree with her she should have done more interviews but I don't think she would have made herself look any better as she did not come across as smart in the ones she did.
I still don't think she gets it yet that she was only used by McCain for his political gain and it backfired on him.
I don't like Sarah Palin as a politician at all but I do feel she was used and that was not right.

Her biggest mistakes were agreeing to run for a position she was woefully unprepared for and for not understanding that the GOP was only using her as a political tool.

AH SHUT UP, YOU MORON

Jonan   December 22nd, 2008 5:08 pm ET

She's an idiot who cannot put together a full, gramatically correct sentence. The doors to the English department a Wasilla High must be draped in black. So too, are the so-called Communications Department at the University of Idaho.

LOL

"If I am so blessed to be the next Vice President...."–Sarah Palin

No, Sarah, we were the ones who were blessed. We're so blessed that you didn't get one toe in the door of the White House. You are a moron.

Natasha in tally   December 22nd, 2008 5:07 pm ET

Correction, Gov. Palin not giving interviews was the best thing she could have done. When you did interviews you fell flat on your face, train wreck central. After the campaing you did every interview known to man, still train wreck central. Trust me that was the least of your worries.

Ms. Palin: its is all said and done now (we hope) and i have only one question left for you: Why is gasoline approximately $1 more expensive in your state than the lower 48? Hmmm? You told us you knew how to handle energy concerns for the future. Is keeping prices $1 higher than average in the rest of the US your way of doing so?

WOW!

deb   December 22nd, 2008 5:07 pm ET

Hah! The ONE RIGHT thing the GOP campaign did was to keep the muzzle on her mouth!

CaliforniaVoter   December 22nd, 2008 5:07 pm ET

ahahahha...

She destroyed the McCain campaign because of her media interviews and she wanted MORE? ^______________^

Boo Hoo   December 22nd, 2008 5:06 pm ET

No you did the right amount. The interviews that you did do were just enough to let the American people know you are an IDIOT.

Mya   December 22nd, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Hahahahahahahaha.....Sarah Palin's crazy! She couldn't answer a question about what she read, for Pete's sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gil Oberdas   December 22nd, 2008 5:04 pm ET

Palin herself is the biggest regret! I'm sure that McCain feels that way now since he got stooped! Thanks to the bimbo from Alaska!

Sally from Cali   December 22nd, 2008 5:03 pm ET

No...too much media coverage.

Please, make it stop. We've had enough.
