Biden: 'No inappropriate contact' between Obama team, Illinois gov

Vice President-elect Joe Biden will head a new task force on working families on Jaunary 20, 2009.

(CNN) - Vice President-elect Joe Biden said a report expected later today detailing contact between the Obama transition team and Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich would show there had been "no inappropriate contact" between the two camps.

“I don’t think there’s anything to exonerate,” Biden told reporters following a Tuesday morning economic briefing in Chicago.

Blagojevich has been accused of trying to sell the Senate seat that had been held by President-elect Barack Obama, and was arrested earlier this month. The president-elect had ordered his team to compile a report listing all conversations between the transition office and the Illinois governor. Obama said several days ago that the public release of the list had been delayed at the request of federal investigators.

“It’s been clear that the president-elect has had no contact with Blagojevich, and you’ve seen that he’s asserted - and you’ll find in the report that’s being released today - that there’s been no inappropriate contact by any member of the Obama staff or the transition team with Blagojevich,” said Biden Tuesday.

The report is slated for release late this afternoon.

You're probably one of those people who "believed" Bush and Cheney for 8 years, and not you have the gall to throw sarcasm? It's strange how the Rethugs and Obama haters let Bush and Cheney get away with war crimes and countless numbers of atrocities and said nothing, but now they are champions of transparency.

    Virginia,

You should believe him because he hasn't spent the last eight years lying to you, distroying your rights, decreasing the value of your home, killing your sons and daughters, gutting the treasury, making your country hated around the world, spying on you, raising your taxes, making gas $4 per gallon, leaving you underwater when the leavy breaks, etc...

    To name a few...

Did they all get their stories straight this time? Was there no contact as the Messiah originally told us, or is it no inappropriate contact? Liars must keep to the story or it all falls apart.

Because he's intelligent, has 30+ yrs. experience, and most of all because he can be trusted. Whether you Repubs. or HRC fanatics want to believe it or not, that's just the way it is.

Oh... well, if he says so, then I'll just conveniently and obediently take his word for it and won't question him further on this issue. Nothing to see here. These aren't the droids you're looking for.

I suppose it depends what our definition of "is" is, huh?
Are we really back to Clintonian word parsing AGAIN??!

Sorry, Barry, where there's smoke, there's fire and I'm not buy a simple "not the droids" statement. I swear, if today's liberal lap-dog media had existed in the early 1970s, Watergate would have never been discovered, and even if it had, the media would have simply and lazily shrugged its collective shoulders. For Shame.

(fawning: Oh! Look, it's Barry! Ooooooh!! Quick, throw your panties!!!)

    @ Virginia,

Umm, why not? Personally, I would trust Joe Biden over a lot of people in Washington.

Thanks Joe, now the Media won't have to look into it. So much for transparency.

Heck anyone can release a report saying anything they want it to say. I seriously doubt Obama or Biden would let anything into the report that would make them look the least bit guilty.

That's a relief, the VP elect, clears the President elect and his team. Phew, I was afraid he might come to the wrong conclusion.

  14. Define that

I guess that all depends on what their definition of "inappropriate" is.

This is so ludicrous...Bush runs Guantanamo for 7 years without visibility or oversight.....and still does btw...yet a phone call asking (NOT SELLING) about a senatoial replacement from Obama's camp to IL gets so much press.
Get off it, there was nothing inappropriate about any of this from Obamas side. If Obama had any thread of dishonesty about this, wouldn't he be selling his cabinet seats right now?? Instead of appointing Republicans too!

Blago....well let's see where he goes when this is over!
Thank GOODNESS we are getting reports from Biden and not Sarah....what's her face.

The investigation will reveal the facts. Any inappropriate contact will easily be uncovered on the taped conversations. It is refreshing to have a CIC who will cooperate with investigations, rather than disrupt them at every opportunity.

The Vice President -Elect plagerized one of his speeches in the 80's and we should trust his word? I don't think so. I'll wait for the prosecuter to tell us how much trouble Rahm Emmanuel is in. Meanwhile, the Pres. Elect is sunning and funning in Hawaii , playing golf and enjoying the beach while the rest of America suffers. Shame on you O!

I am willing to believe Obama had nothing to do with Blagojevich's attempts to sell the Senate seat. I see no evidence to the contrary. But I wonder if the same folks who have already convicted Sarah Palin of hanging around with with drug dealers because (let me get this right) her daughter's boyfriend's mother was arrested on oxycontin drug charges are the ones accusing the "vast right-wing conspiracy" of trying to find a link here between Obama and Blagojevich.

    Thanks
