Wolfson was one of Hillary Clinton’s top advisors.
Wolfson was one of Hillary Clinton’s top advisors.

(CNN) - Howard Wolfson, Hillary Clinton’s former communications director, will be a top strategist for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's re-election effort.

Bloomberg, who was first elected as a Republican, is now a registered Independent.

"As a New Yorker, I am very excited at the prospect of helping the Mayor at this very critical time in our city's history," Wolfson wrote in an Tuesday e-mail. "It is quite clear to me that the mayor's strong record provides a compelling case for his reelection - and that he will provide the proven leadership we need to guide the city through the unprecedented fiscal challenges we face."

Wolfson, a former advisor to New York’s Democratic Party and a long-time Bloomberg critic, downplayed his earlier assessments of his boss as an “out-of-touch billionaire.”

“That was my evil twin,” he told NY1 Tuesday.

He worked @ FOX NEWS after the campaign and now Mr independent. We knew all along that he wasn't a democrat with the way he was attacking Obama during the primaries.SHAME ON YOU WOLFSON.

Such an opportunist. This looser was probably behind King Bloombergs effort to overtunr term limits.

This doesn't address the specific article in question but more so the responses to this article and most others on the Ticker:

Why on earth does everyone seem to think they have to be so negative and hateful in everything they post? No wonder this country is in such disarray with everybody constantly backbiting and spreading such hostility. Does it make the negative posters feel superior by writing somthing hateful about someone else? Why can't we just be civil and try to work together for the betterment of our country?

THE MAYOR SEEMS TO BE A GOOD MAN. LOGIC DICTATES ONE QUESTION. WHY PICK A LOSING TEAM'S LOSER ? AT THE PRICES THAT HE CHARGES AS A LOSER, THE LOGIC DOES NOT FIT. THEN THAT WAS THE PROBLEM WITH POLITICS OF THE 20 CENTURY.

Scotch (formerly Daniel)   December 24th, 2008 12:15 am ET

Seems we have 2 Daniels, I have changed my name so not to be mistaken for an Obama bashing Repub.

My namesake...I think Bloomberg is one mayor with an inflated ego, I suppose they are two of a kind with Wolfson – they are both Nomads.

Gabriel   December 24th, 2008 12:12 am ET

Who cares?

This is a 'communications director' – He is a hired hand! Lets not forget he didnt do the work for Clinton for free.......I bet his consulting fee or salary renumeration from the campaign would be interesting.,,,,
He is now going to do the same thing for Michael Bloomberg......He will work for whomever will pay him......party affiliations are probably not that important and shouldnt be.....the job is what it is............

Bloomberg had better have a back-up plan if Wolfson is as successful a player in Bloomberg's campaign as he was in Hillary Clinton's campaign.

"That was my evil twin".... "I'm the twin that can be bought"...

al   December 23rd, 2008 10:32 pm ET

It shows that this guy can be bought, and has low personal morale. It also shows that, in a big tree, there are boundto be some rotten branches.

lf   December 23rd, 2008 10:30 pm ET

He has seen the light in the Tunnel and at the end of the tunnel, so he has excellent vision, open-mindedness, and alertness to recognize the difference, and CHANGE is all around, so all the more power to him.

He is not "jumping ship" as said–but recognizing where the appropriate direction is for all concerned. He'll perhaps bloom into a greater maturity with Mayor Bloomberg, not from a small Berg but from the 'Big Apple' in real style!

Observe this sharp progressive individual in the days ahead and take special note–He is moving and getting things done!!

Sue   December 23rd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

I hope the "evil twin" defense doesn't catch on..I can hear Bush and Cheney now...

I receive SSI   December 23rd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Wow he did such a great job in the primary I can see why he would be in such demand. This just goes to show that Republicans are idiots.

peit de pueblo 2112   December 23rd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

he has a sense of humor? although the evil twin ting would have worked better if he wore a fake goatee. either way, shows that money tawks in NYC

Oh No!!!!! Say It Ain't So!!!!!!!

New Yorker   December 23rd, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Isn't it refreshing when someone finally sees the light? Still waiting for all of the Bush haters to realize the truth about him and counter their "evil twins" Meh, I don't expect you to post this CNN. Oh, wait, it is possible.

G   December 23rd, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Like any of these aids are really looking out for the candidates interest its always has and will always be about then and how they get ahead. Did the mayor forget what a horrible job he did last time? Got beat by a rookie lol.

Wilson Jefferson   December 23rd, 2008 10:06 pm ET

So whats new ? Like all Politicians looking out for themselves instead of others and the country. Duh.

Pier Giacalone   December 23rd, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Bloomberg has deftly implemented his vision of a NYC for the rich where there is just enough public housing for their servants with nothing in between.

Of course, at least he advanced this agenda competently. Real New Yorkers lose either way. Incompetent liberals or a lead-pipe "independent".

Funny, Bloomberg started riding the subway to work as a sign of solidarity with the people, but pretty soon he'll be the only one who can afford it anyway.

Joe the Plumber   December 23rd, 2008 9:59 pm ET

Doesn't anybody care what I think about this?

SR   December 23rd, 2008 9:57 pm ET

Sounds like another Lieberman, LOSER !!!

Give Me A Break!   December 23rd, 2008 9:56 pm ET

His only loyalty is to Bill.....as in "Dollar Bill."

HAH   December 23rd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

Yeah, if Wolfson does as good a job with Bloomberg as he did with Clinton, Bloomberg might almost win. Seriously, what's Bloomberg thinking?

Dee in the Texas   December 23rd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

Isn't this the same guy that started many of the false Obama rumors during the primary? If it is, I hope for Bloomberg's sake, he keeps him on a tight leash.

Donald   December 23rd, 2008 9:48 pm ET

Sounds like this skunk is looking at $$$ signs. Bloomberg is the wealthiest individual in New York so why shouldn't this jerk get his palms greased.

Anonymous   December 23rd, 2008 9:48 pm ET

Given Wolfson's record, it's clear this is some arrangement by the democrats to prevent Bloomberg's re-election!

Aaron, Chicago   December 23rd, 2008 9:45 pm ET

This guy really is a slimeball. Looks like New York is about to join Chicago in corrupt politics.

Henry Miller, Cary, NC   December 23rd, 2008 9:45 pm ET

If there's anyone more contemptible than HRC, it's Bloomberg. They're both arrogant statists who have nothing but contempt for the rights of individuals. Their common guiding philosophy seems to be "Government uber alles!"

Ron of Baltimore   December 23rd, 2008 9:45 pm ET

Let the guy have a job, will you? What's wrong with people these days?

He was always articulate, concise, and honest. Bloomberg, and NYC, could do a whole lot worse.

Joe the Drummer   December 23rd, 2008 9:43 pm ET

Ahh an independant What happened to the good old Republican brand? could it be that everyone now has the Republican party pegged as a lets give big business everything they want and to hell with average folks party.

Bs   December 23rd, 2008 9:20 pm ET

Give me a beak !
the only thing he should advise is stopping Bloomberg from inceasing the fares on buses and subways.

Let the impeachment begin !!

Daniel   December 23rd, 2008 9:20 pm ET

Well, he did such a good job in the primary, why not hire him?.... Haha. While I'm at it, I'd like to hire the Lions football coach.
