Can any of you 40% please tell me what Barry has done to earn your admiration?

Obama being number one doesn't surprise me. Palin being number 2 (there's a joke in there somewhere) doesn't surprise me either. I work with some very conservative guys and they LOVE Sarah Palin. She hunts, she goes fishing and she is pleasant to look at. They also tell me that Sarah isn't as dumb as people make her out to be. Well, most people think she's an idiot so I guess they might be right. She did finish a four year degree in only 7 years at five different colleges. She came out of nowhere and was the VP selection for the republican ticket. I'm still laughing over that one. I firmly support Sarah for the republican nomination in 2012. I'm also hoping Joe the Plumber is the VP nod that year. If they run and do win the election...I can only pray that the Mayans are right and that the world does end on December 21st, 2012. Having Sarah as our president would just be too humiliating.

I used to bother to read these comments. But to have to wade through 50 or 60 moronic comments to find one of intelligence just isn't worth it. If CNN doesn't get a moderator to screen out the crap, I'm just going to stop visiting this wasteland.

bk,

No, it's not the SNL skit, it's the ABC interview. You know, the one where she talked clearly about how her air guard monitors the situation when Putin flies into Alaska's airspace...

My boy didn't really inspire me, I respected him. If there was anything that I got inspired is that I saved my country! But other than that, nothing spectacular. I just got inspired to find out the truth about my country, that's all. Plus, I don't do all that work for nothing...and I didn't even get paid for it. Dems sure are lucky I hooked them up...plus, it is ironic. I never thought I would try to help out a Dem...

Well Ana if you are so smart, given that Obama Hussein was elected with ~54% of the popluar vote...what happened to the other 15%. Lost them already? He's not even in office yet....we WILL be reminded why there has only been 2 democratic administrations since the 60's.

Yes Palin did say she could see Russia from her house. Not even SNL could make that up. I watched her say it. She has sounded and looked like an idiot in every interview she has done. My personal favorite was the recent 'turkey" interview. That one was priceless!
No one is trying to make Palin look dumb. She does that all by herself.

President Bush in second place?
Sarah Palin in second place?
SECOND!
Who are these people being polled that can not think of one person to be admired that falls between Mr. Obama and Mr. Bush...or Mrs. Clinton and Sarah Palin? Really?

Bush could probably even come up with a couple of names.

The world admires them because the world knows they make the United States weaker. As many countries turn to socialism, much as we seemed to do in the last election, the only way to "level" the playing field is to tear the US down. Other nations know we are at our weakest when liberals (read socialists) are in power. The world could care less about Barack and Hillary, it's a weak America they admire.

Yeah for Obama- I admire his cool throughout the campaign despite the negativity he faced. His presidential win has done alot to change the image of America around the world. America is #1 in the world again, we set the pace for others to follow.

Yeah Hillary - I love this woman and can't wait to see what she does as sect of state. She will work hard to bring peace in the middle east and champion women causes around the world. Obama got it right.

Yeah Ophra - she is the most giving celebrity and her heart is in the right place. Charity begins at home.

Boo Palin - I don't agree and can't imagine what some folks find appealing about her. Hmmm I take that back maybe, the men like the way she winked and made their nature rise. That got to be it. Some women just don't Obama in office..................Good luck Sarah in 2012 Obama/Biden will be waiting.

To use the media's favorite word again, this is HISTORIC. It's the first time (since 1952) that an African American President-elect who was raised in a non-contiguous state then moved to Chicago but vacations in Hawaii (big deep breath), plays basketball and has a funny name has finished atop this poll. Whew! Absolutely historic.

Although she did lack the experience to be catapulted into the VP/USA position, Palin is neither an airhead nor stupid.

She has accomplished a lot more in 43 years than most of the airheads that post here will dream of.

Naive is a better adjective. And the vicious onslaught by the media against her and H C will not be soon forgotten by many of us.
Clearly so, given these results.

I take comfort in the hope, with this poll, that strong, confident women of conviction will continue to be recognized for their achievements in spite of the Neanderthals who resort to any deviant resolve to push them down.

Congrats as well to the President-Elect.

I definitely admire Hillary Clinton for her courage, intelligence, and her willingness to work with others to get things done.

Sarah Palin on the other hand demonstrated her lack of knowledge on subjects. As a politician you should always be ready to answer any questions that people ask. From domestic issues, foreign issues, sports, current affairs and so on. You should be a well rounded person especially this time because children are very smart and articulate.

Greg, please let me answer your question.

He's a mixed-race child of a single mother. He basically started life at a disadvantage right there. Despite that, he rose to the top, graduating from Columbia, from Harvard, and was the first "black" editor of the Harvard Law Review. Do you know how challenging that was???

Then move on to the fact that he received the most votes ever cast for President of the United States, despite his relative inexperience and his mixed-race status, and the fact that a very large percentage of our country is racist.

He emanates intelligence and pragmatism with every speech he gives and every decision he makes. He has the potential to be one of the best presidents we've ever had.

He may turn out to be a dud, but at least with Obama, Biden and his supporting cast, we have a chance at turning this country around. Can you imagine McCain, Palin, Gramm, Rove, etc? We'd be royally scr*wed.

Hillary being the most admired woman for 7 years straight is making a statement that people like her. I'm sure by next year, Palin will be nowhere near this list.

Good! go Barack and Hillary, I was a Hillary girl through the primaries, ended up voting for barack with a heavy heart. I think his heart is in the right place and maybe he will get the job done, meanwhile Hillary is quietly building a powerful state department starting with special envoys for the world's hot spots.(something the bush adminstration practically did away with.)

Yes, Greg, we could tell you why we admire Mr. Obama so much, but you and Richard Rohde are probably too stupid and mean-spirited to ever understand. If either of you can read something other than the comics and the sports page, read "The Audacity of Hope" by Barack Obama. You just might get some insight. By the way, Richard, Hussien means something very positive in arabic, so I am glad you are using his wonderful middle name. It sure is better than "Dick".

How in the world can you have the most admired (Obama) in the same group as Palin? I can understand admiring Obama just because he's an intelligent human being who has been elected as our next president, but what is Palin admired for.....her stupidity or her lack of ethics?
