From

(CNN) — A candidate for Republican National Committee chairman said Friday it was clear the content of a CD he sent committee members for Christmas — that included lyrics from a song called “Barack the Magic Negro” — was intended as a joke.

“I think most people recognize political satire when they see it,” Chip Saltsman told CNN. “I think RNC members understand that.” Saltsman, a former chair of the Tennessee Republican Party, was a top advisor to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, and managed former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign.

The song, set to the tune of “Puff the Magic Dragon,” was first played on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show in 2007. Its title was drawn from a Los Angeles Times column that suggested Obama appealed to those who feel guilty about the nation’s history of mistreatment of African-Americans. Saltsman said the song, penned by long-time friend Paul Shanklin, should be easily recognized as satire directed at the Times.

The parody CD sent to RNC members this Christmas, first reported by The Hill Friday, is titled “We Hate the USA”, and includes songs referencing former presidential John Edwards and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, among other targets.

BIGot TENT POLITICS

John Janski   December 26th, 2008 9:49 pm ET

Direct your anger at the Iranian Mullahs people not the Republicans. The Mullahs want to kill you.

Eric   December 26th, 2008 9:24 pm ET

I've heard a lot worse things from Chris Rock too. But Chris Rock doesn't represent our government and is not an elected official. When a person who is supposed to represent the people is more interested in degrading them it's a big deal.

virginia for obama   December 26th, 2008 8:59 pm ET

As a Black person reading these comment, It makes my heart feel so

good to know that this country has come along way by the support

that you are giving Obama. I know the comment are coming from

people from all walks of life ( White, Black, Hispanic, Republican,

Democrat, Independent, etc. . . . God Bless You All. Oh Yeah! ran – is

right. If we all get together we can take them out of office for good.

Teke in CT   December 26th, 2008 8:39 pm ET

Hey, on the bright side: As long as clueless bigots like Chris Saltsman continue to be the guiding lights for the GOP, we Dems stand a much better chance of retaining control of the White House and both houses of Congress! Right on, Chris–just keep on sending out those "oh-so-funny" CDs!

Mike   December 26th, 2008 8:20 pm ET

Wow, all these comments by people who don't know what they are talking about. Have any of you heard the song? It is not making fun of PEBO, it is making fun of some of the racist things that a lot of LIBERAL people and publishings had said about PEBO, such as the Times, and Quotes like this one:
Speaking to the New York Observer: Biden was equally skeptical — albeit in a slightly more backhanded way — about Mr. Obama. “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

Gee, sounds like Biden is a bit racist doesn't it.

Most Americans, including the RNC do not condone racism and are not racist. When did America become so politically correct that you cannot say a thing without hurting someone's feelings? Why is it not ok to say something negative about someone if their skin happens to be black, or brown, or tan, or green, or purple, but its ok to say anything you want about someone if they are white, or a Christian, or from a small town.

How can racism ever really end if people are so sensitive that they let something as insignificant as a stupid song making fun of people that said stupid things upset them so much?

FL PUMA   December 26th, 2008 8:15 pm ET

What. An. Idiot.

Satire is Barack the Magic Saviour. What they came up with was meant to be hurtful on more levels than just targeted "satire" and sour grapes.

mavisdarling   December 26th, 2008 8:13 pm ET

The problem here is that most people DO NOT find this funny, and any REAL politician would be sensitive to that. "White Guilt"? In their own deranged Republican minds, that might make sense and I guess it's cool to make fun of it. But MOST people find the song title and the CD title offensive, as well as the underlying hate and racism behind them.

Kathi Geukes   December 26th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

Just another shot from the Repubs…..Bad news dudes….no one thinks this kind of crap is funny anymore…Or are you getting a bail out from Bush too?

chris @stl   December 26th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

I don't listen to Hannity or Rush. Some one in this blog made a comment about boycotting the sponsors of these ultra radical programs. Can any one post the list of sponsors of Rush and Hannity. I would like to send a letter to the sponsors and letting them know of my intention to boycott their products. This is the most effective way to stop these racist hate mongering bigots from dividing this country.

RNC=Really Nutty Coo-Coo's   December 26th, 2008 8:11 pm ET

Repubs, THIS is why we voted DEMOCRAT this year. Maybe if you stop acting like angry children, try fixing our economy. Try getting us out of Iraq. Then we'll listen to what you want.

And of course this Saltsballs guy is from Tennessee, a southerner. I bet he still clings on to those "Jim Crow Laws" and prejudice.

This is what the Republican party is:
-Racists
-Partisan
-Disrespectful
-Childish, Immature
-Believes "Me, God" instead of "We, the people."

Mike Dallas   December 26th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

Now, folks what did we expect from racist rednecks?

After all the Reptilaians favorite reptile is just David Duke in drag!

Bgail   December 26th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

One concern I have as a christian is being lumped in with the likes of these guys. Being a christian doesn't mean you're an ignorant bigot any more than being white makes you a bigot. If one of them went to Yale, would that make all Yale grads stupid too?

But we all have choices people. They choose to do dumb things, others of us may not. Let's just connect these people with who they are–misguided, backward, out of touch, hateful (I could go on and on) who may call themselves christian. I will not go as far as to question their Christianity–only God knows their heart. I am hoping that we as sane people have the ability to disconnect these people's ignorance and their ignorant acts from their stated religion.

virginia for obama   December 26th, 2008 8:08 pm ET

I agree with Bonehead. . . . How in the world that black people can be a part of that racist party. They don't care about you. Listen to some of the commentaries on these News channels.

This black women just can't understand it.

Dave, Illinois   December 26th, 2008 8:06 pm ET

Godluvr, you are a racist and a bigot. Because two black men do not agree with your political views, you insult them like a child would. I have heard black Republicans called "Uncle Toms", "House N!ggers", etc from the Left. This is just another example of what a bunch of hypocrits you people are. Yeah, this type of satire is stupid and hurtful – from either side. By the way, Dems, how is old Grand Wizard Robert Byrd doing.

Steve in Louisville   December 26th, 2008 8:06 pm ET

Time for a de-Republicanization effort in this country — just as they had a de-Nazification effort in Germany after World War II

Charlie in Maine   December 26th, 2008 8:05 pm ET

RNC=Really nasty crooks.

stevieray   December 26th, 2008 8:05 pm ET

ignorant – racist – par for the course for the GOP. When are americans going to understand that the GOP thinks we are stupid – and how could they not when you silly fools voted for W. – TWICE.

Johnny B   December 26th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

So let me get this straight, the democrats have their panties all in a bunch over this, when they were the ones who voted against gay marriage? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.. Discrimination is discrimination. Get over yourselves left wingers; you aren’t any better than the repubs. Oh and in case you’re wondering, I’m an independent.

Peach in Georgia   December 26th, 2008 8:03 pm ET

This is the reason why a lot of us who are real Christians left the hate infused Republican Party and voted for Pres. Elect Obama. What an example to send out hate entwined with racism for Christmas. If they keep it up, than in 2012 they will be no Republicans left just a few winking fools. The RNC should be ashamed, first using donors political funds for someones wardrobe and extravagance and now hate and racism for Christmas. They really have not got it, have they. I was a Republican for over 30 years and had enough quiet awhile ago. And you can tell they are Christians by their love….NOT.. Shameless…

Zack Centre   December 26th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

Want to have a great day tomorrow? Drop all your "friends" who are Republicans, because real friends aren't racist unless you're a member of the KKK or a Nazi. I did and life is so much better than wasting time arguing with republican losers.

curt   December 26th, 2008 7:59 pm ET

Most people reconize rasicm when they see it, it;s o.k that's why the RNC are loser's and will continue to lose, that's why fat boy can not stay married, to much hate in his weak heart

Tony the Tiger   December 26th, 2008 7:59 pm ET

If the song came from someone in Youtube .. it's probably a joke. If it's from RNC, common … you gotta be kidding that this is a joke! What a lame excuse.

Renee   December 26th, 2008 7:59 pm ET

Why is this not only expected, but encouraged. He's our President, for Pete's sake. He's going to be questioned, scrutinized and reported on for at least four years. Jib Jab has been sticking it to Bush for years. Sarah Palin and McCain got it on the campaign trail. Wake up people! This comes with the territory!

SOUTHERN HOTTIE   December 26th, 2008 7:57 pm ET

. . . AND STILL THERE ARE MANY WHO WILL REMAIN AS MEMBERS OF THIS DESPICABLE PARTY OF, LET'S FACE IT: morons.

Nashville Michael   December 26th, 2008 7:56 pm ET

You have to live here in Tennessee to understand how utterly hypocritical, racist, unAmerican and detestable some of these so-called "Christian Republicans" really are. I have neighbors who pride themselves on their love of Jesus, yet have plates on the front bumpers of their cars bearing jokes about people with AIDS. It's sickening.

NJP   December 26th, 2008 7:55 pm ET

Upon further review…

Just heard the "tune" on You Tube…it didn't strike me as particulary funny., nor as a clever satire of the LA Times column, which was its supposed inspiration. It was instead a rather ham-handed attempt to satirize Al Sharpton. Not sure whether it was racist but, as satire, I would have to say it was an abject failure.

Bgail   December 26th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

It is truly sad that we have people in major leadership (RNC) that would even consider, let alone carry out such a ridiculous, petty and racist communication and call it satire.

They know the difference and they know what they're doing. The difference now is that they have not wised up to the fact that most folk do not subscribe to their ideology any more. Talk about an inability to smell the coffee! Have they not looked around and seen what has happened to their party? People don't want to hear it–people who really care about this country anyway. I would think that they would wise up, lay low for a while and come up with a new plan. But I guess old beliefs and playbooks die hard.

Jeffrey   December 26th, 2008 7:53 pm ET

Is it a wonder that 90% of all African Americans vote Democratic. I guess the RNC is aiming to alienate all of them. Truly pathetic. Now did he blacken his face and perform the song too?

Hansen   December 26th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

Hansen   December 26th, 2008 7:51 pm ET

How dispicable the Republic Party has become…wake up its 2009!

Steven   December 26th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

the satire is that barack isn't black or african american, he's half white, and his black father was absent all his life (where have we heard that one before?). he was raised on the beaches of hawaii with his white grandmother, if anything he's more white than "african american"

but let's face it, he used it to his advantage quite well in the campaign season. he describes himself as black, then acts like everyone else is racist for playing the "one drop" rule, which he uses on himself.
you all know it – if barack obama didn't have a funny name and had fair skin, you wouldn't have nominated him.

i'm black, and barack doesn't know the first thing about the hardships black people have been through in this country. his ancestors weren't slaves, and i sure didn't grow up on the beaches of hawaii.

Lisa Vilen   December 26th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

O.K., if and when Jindal runs, I expect to hear tunes from the RNC like: Jindal Bells, Jindal Bells and Red Rover, Red Rover, Send Aladin Right Over. After all, it is only a satire, so why not have a little fun with one of their own. I also expect to see a Jindal Waffle Box, complete with a turban.

John   December 26th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

Really, 90% of the posts here sound like they come from the same person.

There's more anti-white racism in this thread than there was pro-white racism in the entire GOP Presidential campaign. Actually, there was more pro-white racism evident in the Democratic primary than there was in the entire GOP Presidential campaign.

OMG, you have got to be kidding. RNC, Rush all of of your ilk should just let it go. You cannot do anything to make President Obama, or any black people feel less than they are. The curtain has been lifted and the wizard has been revealed, and he ain't got no clothes. Seriously, Rush, get a real job, okay. And to the people who are the keepers of his 'audience' – take the sharp objects away from these people and give them shock treatments!

Wayne in CA   December 26th, 2008 7:29 pm ET

just amazing(but not surprising..)

the RNC is a morally bankrupt and socially inept entity that needs to go extinct…

Velmeezee   December 26th, 2008 7:28 pm ET

Regardless of if the song is racist or if it is 'merely' making fun of white guilt, it is NOT funny. The fact that some Americans still have to feel guilty about past and present mistreatment of other Americans is very sad indeed. Are doctors sending 'satire' CDs about AIDS or cancer to their constituents for Christmas? No I don't think there are any of those because AIDS, cancer, and the negative ways society deals with these scourges is not funny in any way, shape or form. Racially motivated injustice and its negative emotional aftermath is just as un-funny as AIDS. Anyone who thinks otherwise is callous and awful and I would think totally unfit to be in any leadership position.

i don't see how the republican party can get out of addressing this issue, it's ovious it is full of racist remarks, they should have put a stop to it back when palin was ranting and raving her racist remarks that could have gotten obama killed, but they chose to ignore it then, when will they face the american people with an honest apoligy and choose people that want to unite this country instead of divide it, God help us.

fmjk   December 26th, 2008 7:09 pm ET

@sick of it

I listened to the song. I heard it played on Rush's show several times during the election cycle. Even having listened to it on Rush's show I had no idea that it was a satire of an LA Times story. Nor did I think it had any taste or merit–and I am all about satire.

Ilene   December 26th, 2008 7:06 pm ET

Please post this…..please don't leave me in moderation.

Ah, the true colors of the RNC — come home to roost at last. Is anyone really surprised at this. I'm hoping that the next 8 years will show that the Republicans are a party whose time has come and gone — such as the Whig party and the No Nothing Party (oh, wait the Republicans can turn themselves into the No Nothing Party since they already seem to show that).

MN gal   December 26th, 2008 7:04 pm ET

It is absolutely disgusting that some Republicans want this president to fail before he takes the Oath. Racism in the current GOP is blantant. Cry yourselves to oblivion, angry right wingers. To paraphrase Time magazine in regards to the President-Elect, in the land of the hapless, the compentent man is king! May Obama prove you all to be the lazy, greedy and incompentant folks you truly are by his mere example.

Godluvr   December 26th, 2008 7:02 pm ET

To Mike in Syracuse, NY and fellows sore losers:

You are stone cold fools! This song is dedicated you and PUMA trojans. It's an old LL Cool J song (ask your children/grandchildren, they listen to Negro music) 'Ma Ma Gonna Knock You Out:' Put my new president's name in there and you have for 2012: Obama's gonna knock you out! One a$$ whipping wasn't enough-You gonna get two!

Sorry to lay down my edumacation for a minute, but people who write such evil, space alien stuff on these blogs, can't read anyway. Those of you with intelligence will get it.

Note to Michael Steele:

I understand why Justice Clarence Thomas is still a Republican; he fell on his head as a baby and he' s afraid of his wife. But what is your excuse? How can you continue to ignore the blatant racism and down right meanness coming from your fellow members? Whether you believe it or not, they feel the same way about you. Don't believe me? Announce tomorrow that you are switching parties. They'll have a cross burning in your yard as soon as the sun sets.

Thank God that He is still God, and chose a great leader for this great land of ours. That repub shiggidy didn't work this time, and never will again. GA can forget it. That part of the south ain't risin again!

The Republican Party uses Rush Limbaugh, who most people know is high on drugs and has incurable racism running through every vein in his fat body, to spew hatred for blacks on the airwaves everyday.
Rush Limbaugh with three failed mariages, lives in a $24 million, 36,500-square-foot oceanfront mansion in Palm Beach, Florida has made his fortune off of race-baiting and being the mouthpiece of a Republican Party which still believes in this century that minorities ought to be slaves to be owned, traded and degraded.
The republican party is so damaged by its refusal to face facts and acknowledge that the party will continue to lose one election after the other until they stop worshiping fat racist fools like Limbaugh and others who make millions sowing seeds of racism. You think they lost a lot of seat in this past election? Just watch what will happen to this racist party in future elections if racism continues to be its cornerstone.

America is moving forward and trying to put the divisions and race baitings of the past behind us, not keep them on the front burner. The republican leadership needs to put a stop to this kind of nonsense or else they are going to further marginilize themselves. There is a huge difference between political satire and rascist "jokes". Did he honestly think this wouldn't make the news? Good grief. If ignorance is bliss this guy must be one happy camper.

The RNC seriously needs to stop. Are they going to spend the next 8 years wallowing in Obama hate? Oh let me guess: The democrats did it too when Bush was in office so it's okay. This 5th grade level politicking is exactly why the nation rejected the incumbents at the polls in two elections so far.

When is it time, even for Republicans, to say "Enough is Enough!"?

By the way, what do conservatives know about satire?? Do they even know what that means?? Or is?? But then again, this is the same party that is fighting between technology and values…now that's funny!

Why is this a surprise? Watching the Republican rallies I was amazed at the diversity of the attendees, there were tall white racists, short white racists, fat white racists, skinny white racists, old white racists, not-so-old white racists, male white racists, female white racists, dumb white racists, dumber white racists………..

Toby in Illinois   December 26th, 2008 6:28 pm ET

Conservatives would be well advised never, never, never to attempt humor. It's not in the conservative genes, because it relies upon looking at a situation from different perspectives.

Guess he signed up on "teamsarah.org" and figured that there's still a lot of ignorant, racist Americans out there to be wooed for a vote.

Honestly – how can anything with the word "negro" in it be considered funny? What an ignorant, asinine thing to do…

Walt   December 26th, 2008 6:26 pm ET

Why am I not surprised to see RNC officials distributing something like this?
Why am I not surprised to see them frantically backtracking and explaining it as innocent "satire?"
Face it… people who would seriously endorse Sarah Palin are not exactly capable of foresight, common sense or even ordinary courtesy.

"A candidate for Republican National Committee chairman said Friday it was clear the content of a CD he sent committee members for Christmas — that included lyrics from a song called “Barack the Magic Negro” — was intended as a joke."

What the heck is that?? "Barack the Magic Negro?" All of a sudden they turned into rappers or something? And is a joke?? A joke?? Hating America?? I wanna listen to that tape and I'll tell you if its a joke…

Chrystel from Fayetteville, NC   December 26th, 2008 6:22 pm ET

There is nothing funny about making fun of someone's race. There is too much hidden meaning behind these "jokes" for me. As an African American living abroad, I see how ignorant our so called conservative leaders look in the eyes of the world. Political satire would be "Barak the Magic Man." I guess this is what we should come to expect from the wounded RNC. Now that they got their a$$e$ handed to them this election, they are going to show us how to lose without dignity. I guess we should expect this type of stupidity every now and then, since these idiots have finally been exposed for what they are.

But the sour grapes are so sweet on the other side. Go Obama!!!

He went to treatment for being a drug addict. He was busted at an airport with viagra he had no prescription for, trying to board a flight to Trinidad, which is a hotbed of low-rent prostitution. This is a guy you people look to for morality? Nice job.

The RNC chair is not a childish man but also a real sick man who is not interested in the future of this country. His angry and nasty look shows that he wants to be a destroyer at all cost. Since many republicans and democrats are uniting to forge a coalition that restaures the image and strengths of this country, his action will be useless

Tru in FL   December 26th, 2008 5:59 pm ET

This is GREAT. The country is becoming more diverse than ever and the RNC does something like this. I guess they NEVER want to win an election ever again. Fine, I'd like to order Obama in 2012, Hillary in 2016 and shoot my stuffed animal in 2024 before I would vote for a racist RNC member. They are hilarious. They expect us to believe that they are for the people? Sorry, college educated, youth, Black, Hispanic, many many educated White males & females, and even gays who are upset over Warren will vote for Obama before they will vote for an RNC member. I think this might be the last nail in the coffin and it is great. Everyone should read Allen Raymond's How To Rig An Election if you really want to see how the RNC and their crews work. No matter how many lies the RNC, Blago (yes him, not all Dems are great people either), Limbaugh listeners (who can't pay their bills yet making this man Limbaugh rich) spread, the O-Team will prevail.

How ironic can it get when a jew sends this type of slanderous material?Just proves they like someone else to be scapegoated and not themselves]

You might want to take a moment to check your facts before you make a complete fool of yourself. Do you really think Chip Salsman is a Jew? Based on what, that Salsman sounds like a Jewish name? Well, guess what, you are totally wrong. First, his name is Chip Salsman, Jr. and it is very rare indeed for a Jew to be nicknamed 'Chip' or be a 'Jr," or to be working at the top for Huckabee, or to have attended Father Ryan High School, a Catholic high school in Nashville, and then Christian Brothers University in Memphis.

Your post makes you (A race to the bottom) look like an ignorant racist.

Paul C.   December 26th, 2008 5:49 pm ET

There's a difference between satire and downright ugliness and the RNC qualifies for that. That's why it always cracks me up when I see these people like Joel Watkins, Amy Holmes et al who serve an agenda that sees them as slaveowners saw their slaves, tokens to the fullest. I believe that this is the tip of the iceberg so look for more filth coming from the right. And I hope they do, they'll just lose again and again until they can accept humility and drop these neo morons from the once proud GOP.

The song is not racist. It's dumb. It's race-baiting. It's hypocritical and hardly a satisfying satire, but it is not racist. Ironic, too, that the wannabe RNC chairman thinks that this is obviously satire of an LA Times article–when LA Times readership is at an all time low, making it an obscure reference for most people who do not listen to every word Rush spits out through his formerly nicotine encrusted lips.

What should really offend people is the fact that the CD is called "We Hate America." When George W. Bush drew a line in the sand and proclaimed, "You are either with us or against us," he was talking about terrorism. He was not talking about disagreeing with the GOP's vision of America. One thing that people should love about the man who will pray at Obama's innauguration is his appeal for civility in politics. It is something we so desperately need right now, and I wish the RNC would recognize that and step up to the plate; despite Barrack's efforts, the DNC is failing in this area so it could be a grand slam in 2012.

This is just another example of institutional racism—the most chronic untreated disease in America. Some Southern white men will just not come to grips with reality. Those who say they are Christians and continue to spew this 21st century version of Jim Crow are an affront to Americans–blue and red. This"parody" makes me see RED.

Thomas L. Bakersfield CA   December 26th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Well obviously the GOP has learned absolutely nothing from the November elections. Divisiveness and polarizing the country with messages of hate will get you no where but a very fast ticket out of town if you're running for office. True Americans can clearly see right now what the GOP agenda is all about, and they are absolutely fed up with those old tired ways of keeping this country divided.

Thank God the majority of Catholics in this country have finally seen the light of day, and the truth for what it really is. The GOP wishes to take us all back to the dinosaur age, well they can stay right there and rot for all I care!

This is my first response to a news story, but this is simply beyond belief. As others have said, this certainly demonstrates why the GOP has lost all credibility. Although I am from Texas, I have lived near Nashville, Tennessee for 20 years. I am not surprised in the least at this bigotry! There were Tennessee politicians still saying they "think Obama is a Muslim" as recently as 2 months prior to the election. In my town, which has always had both a Democrat and Republican Headquarters it was decided to NOT have a Democratic Headquarters this year as soon as Hiliary Clinton was out of the running. That spoke volumns to me and shows how much racism and bigotry run through this state and unfortunately many others.

GOP cannot stomach that majority of the world like Obama and his incoming administration so what they do is pup in the midst of the ceremony. Just afew individuals in GOP are misleading others who do not have time to make their own decisions and stand up for what their conscience declares as right and ethical..that is the problem. There is no way you will ever take this country backwards once it has had a taste of the goodness that President Obama is going to present to all of America, not just some.

GET OVER IT, RUSH & ETC….YOU LOST

I must say that it's encouraging that none of the Republican bloggers who frequent this site have tried to rationalize this.

It gives me hope.

Pathetic racism disguised as satire. Really lame. Come on. It's almost 2009. Get a clue.

Racist white trash   December 26th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

This is additional evidence the Republican Party has become a hang-out for racist white trash. Ugly, uneducated people with ego problems when someone from another race outperforms them.

Brandon from WI   December 26th, 2008 5:09 pm ET

The Republican sense of humor becomes more and more senseless. Using a person's race in such a intolerant way is why they are continuing to lose elctions in a society that is becoming more pluralistic.

Hopeful in Ohio   December 26th, 2008 5:09 pm ET

Wow……sounds like someone needs a teddy bear and a blanket………The country is facing it's worst challenges in over 70 years since 1929, bailouts are going to every Wall Street Corporation with the only stipulation being that you must hold out your hand, and then there was Sarah Palin. What ever happened to united we stand, divided we fall. Not only is this an American mantra, but it's in the Bible (for all the right wing evangelicals). Do Republicans really read the Bible, or is it only needed every 4 years as a way to try and prove Democrats are heathens. I mean seriously, I often wonder, why is it that the party of morals, ethics, and values hides behind a vale of divisiveness, fear, and racism. Now I understand why there is a Black National Republican Party and there is the GOP. Amazing, it sounds like someone needs to go to church more often.

Well, the Republicans seem bent on political suicide. If they would lift their heads they would see the evidence all around them that American citizens are tired of this kind of crap and want President Obama to succeed.

Sarah   December 26th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Truly pathetic the republicans have become. Ohh and this guy was Mike Huckabees campaign manager. Yah way to go to the "christian party" spreading hate, racism, and inequality. PATHETIC.

Here I thought a lot of people in my state had a problem with people of color, but nothing like this. I just can't believe my eyes. "I hate America" how dumb can you get. This man can't think for himself if his only answer for this king of dumbness is I hear it on the radio show of some one who we all know likes keeping America divided. I guess in my life time I will never vote rep. again, I sure don't want people to think I am that dumb.

It's sad the republican party has been hijacked by southern racists. There is a reason why most northeastern republican congressmen were wiped out in this last election. So long as the national party is run by the South, the South will dominate their culture and push out the culture of anyone else who isn't white. I'm from the South, I love the South, I understand that these cultural holdovers from the South are destroying it. The death of Southern political power has been ruled a suicide.

Mary   December 26th, 2008 4:58 pm ET

I read the comments below and I must confess, I do not understand the "outrage" from people I perceive as being democrats. This is actually good news for the Democratic party.

Think about it: wouldn't be good if in 2012, Chip is the RNC chair and Gov. Palin is the Republican candidate for president? What better way to ensure 'D' victories in future elections than by having someone who jokes about hating America as chair of the RNC? And because he is a fan of Rush, we can expect to see more like this in the news, if he is elected.

So, in my opinion, democrats should work really hard to ensure that this guy wins the RNC chair position.

I just listened to this song for the first time on youtube just now. As an Obama supporter, I don't really think it's making fun of Obama as much as it's making fun of Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and all the other extremists who, in spite of all the effort and publicity they accomplished over the years, still didn't come close to what Obama accomplished in just 18 months.

Thomas   December 26th, 2008 4:58 pm ET

This RNC party is not only routed and rejected by the majority of the Amercan people , but they also has committed political sucide by their ideology. I wonder sometimes where are their leaders. I thought they were going to rebuild their part and bring a new agenda to the American people. I guess that they haven not learned anything from the last election.

People we must demand that the Republican party change and if not we must never allow them to win another election of any kind. This kind of behavior can not be allowed to continue in any form. We the people can stop this if we truly care.

All of you old, white, redneck bigots will die off and no one new will join your party. It will be just like natural selection. One day the last of you will just drop dead and the Republicans will be gone. I think that day will be here soon.

Now why I am not surprised that a Confederate (Tennessee is part of the Confederacy) Republican would defend a viciously anti-Black song as "satire". Why are these Southern Whites still fighting the Civil War (or as they call it in the South, the War Between the States)?

When the GOP goes back to being the party of Lincoln (instead of the party of Jefferson Davis), it will once again attract a wide variety of folks.

When I first read about this, I thought racist ignorant bigots!. Then the Democrtic strategist in me said racist ignorant bigots — the RNC really shows its true colours (Racist National Commitee indeed!). For every Michael Steele, the GOP is and always will be run by an old school bigot network. Now, is there anyway that these people can move on from their loss? I doubt it. McCain sold his soul to these idiots and lost (with the help of Gov Palin). After a landside election I dont think that these bigot realize that they have marginalized themselves and have become a regional niche party that panders to the worst character traits: Fear, ignorance, and xenophobia. By the way where are Peter, Paul, and Mary don't they own the song?

Mike in Cincinnati   December 26th, 2008 4:27 pm ET

As long as the GOP continues to think that Obama's election was about race, they will continue to miss the big picture, and will become more and more irrelevant in our country's politics going forward.

They may think, or may joke, that people voted for Obama because of race, that people were trying to make amends about past racial sins, that people were afraid to criticize a black candidate, etc., etc., etc. And maybe this indeed played out for some margin of the voters. But the truth of the matter is that Obama was elected by the majority of the voters because he showed himself to be by far the most qualified candidate. And all you have to do is watch how his transition is going now to know that it is true. Obama is far and away superior in intellect, in decision-making approaches, in collaboration abilities, and in calm, presidential temperament compared to the GOP ticket he ran against.

The GOP is going to have to figure out how to act as solution-oriented adults in a world of serious adult problems before they are to be taken seriously again. Right now, at least this group is still acting like a bunch of name-calling 3rd graders.

I'm not much of one for politically correct phrases, but this is beyond comprehension. A thinly disguised attempt at racial humor from a person who wants to be chair of the RNC. When will these republicans realize that white people are now in the minority in our country and everytime they hurl a racial insult they are basically insulting the majority of our citizens. Time for the "do it our way, think like we do" party to bow out of the political system.

To think that our President Elect is reaching out to both Republicans and Independents to unite the nation and this is the hand biting he gets from the Republican Party. Even when our nation is in peril with a faltering economy this Republican Party can think only of being hateful and divisive. It doesn't say much about how they care for this country.

I am a Democrat and we fought a really tough race against the Republican Party for this past election. I think that now that the race is over, it is time for us to all work together to rebuild and save our nation.

The Republican Party needs to put some adults in charge of it's party so we can all work together. This is a sad day.

[2.] – Rush Limbaugh is the pill-popping druggie who is hopelessly bent on playing the race card , then pretending the audience misread his intentions and overreacted to his otherwise innocent statements, comments, and gestures.

REPUBLICAN's FINEST:-)

Sandra   December 26th, 2008 4:04 pm ET

Another example that keeps racism alive and well. Why do we have to disignate whether a person is black, white, beige or tan? The same kind of blood flows in all of us. If your last chance to live was to get a blood transfusion from anyone but white, would you refuse it. If you fell in the street and someone gave you a helping hand, would you refuse it do to color?
This Rep. should be asked to leave office as you can tell he will not be a bipartician politician.

King of NJ   December 26th, 2008 4:04 pm ET

RNC IS DONE!

Thank you Barack for bringing them to their demise!!

KJL   December 26th, 2008 4:03 pm ET

I generally respect the opinions of others, since I have a few pretty strong ones myself, but some of the ideas and actions emerging from the Republican base are frightening. As an Independant I'm open to voting for members of either party, but it will take one heck of a candidate to make me want to jump into that cesspool.

bk   December 26th, 2008 4:03 pm ET

Get a life people! Remember Obama and his "Typical White Person" Where was the outrage then? You hypocrites.

chris @stl   December 26th, 2008 4:03 pm ET

RNC is a mess …. the party should be banned until it is rid of all the racists and thugs, and fit to be a 21st century party. Kick all the idiots out, NOW.

I'm a repub, and am ashamed of the party.

Jose   December 26th, 2008 4:03 pm ET

OMFG. RNC has no shame. Wow. These people are not Americans. They are bigots who will not be content until they find a way to bring down PE Obama. Truly a new low for a party that continues to become irrelevant in today's times.

Obama Supporter in Colorado Springs   December 26th, 2008 4:03 pm ET

Wow – where are the so-called 'Christian' members of the republican party expressing their outrage?? Typical hypocrites… this party continues to show their true colors of bigotry and exclusion. Good riddance!

Are You Kidding Me???!!   December 26th, 2008 4:02 pm ET

This is absolutely reprehensible, disgusting, shameful, disgraceful, and utterly appalling!!!! I am SO sick of the racism and ignorance that the GOP has displayed – and then to hear them laugh about it as if it were funny! This is a perfect example of why the GOP lost and why they are being left in the dust by the vast majority of Americans and the world. We want to move forward – not regress as the Republican party seems to be doing….

The Republican party is becoming more and more irrelevent by the day, and it's amazing that they haven't realized why they lost yet. Infact, they just keep diggin themselves a deeper hole for their demise. They are delusional.

Divided we WILL fall !!!!!!!!

Shari, N.Y.   December 26th, 2008 4:01 pm ET

Sticks and stones may break ones bones but words can be like water on a duck's back. They just cannot believe that a person whose profile does not suit them is now poised to lead the country. Get over it! This is only the beginning of a radical change in the US especially where demographics is concerned!

SMR   December 26th, 2008 3:59 pm ET

Who sang the lyrics, HANK WILLIAMS JR. ANOTHER JERK!!!

Godluvr   December 26th, 2008 3:58 pm ET

Republicans, Republicans, how hath the mighty fallen so low?

Go Democrats, Go President Obama and VP Biden!

Come quickly 1.20.09!

God Bless America, from a true American!

Perusing-Through   December 26th, 2008 3:57 pm ET

Okay people, let us connect the dots.

[1.] – Chip Saltsman is the former Chairman of the racist Tennessee Republican Party (TRP), an organization that makes a "regular practice" of playing the race card, then stepping back and showing their hands as though TRP and Chip's intentions were innocent and meant only as humor.

[2.] – Rush Limbaugh is the pill-popping druggie who is hopelessly bent on playing the race card , then pretending the audience misread his intentions and overreacted to his otherwise innocent statements, comments, and gestures.

What people should be asking is why Chip Saltsman, Rush Limbaugh, and the TRP must consistently turn to race-baiting tactics when ever addressing any matter that may have a tinge of non-Anglo Saxon component?

SOUTHERN HOTTIE   December 26th, 2008 3:57 pm ET

I'd like to throw my size 6 shoes at the whole lot of the GOP.

They are all KU KLUX KLAN members, I'm convinced.

mel   December 26th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

and this is how they plan to bring about a more diverse party

Former Republican   December 26th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

I WOULD NOT BE A MEMBER OF THE CURRENT

REPUBLICAN PARTY IF I HAD TO GO TO PRISON FOR IT.

AND THESE PEOPLE CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS ?

THE RNC HAS BECOME A COLLECTION OF DEGENERATE

HYPOCRITES OF THE WORST KIND. MAYBE IT ALWAYS WAS &

I JUST DIDN'T KNOW. I AM TRULY SORRY FOR MY PAST SUPPORT.

AH   December 26th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

another selection from the Big Tent party…racist pigs…WWJD?

Cam, Atlanta   December 26th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

I wonder if Sean Hannity will skip this incident as a talking point as they did when Bristol Palin's future Mother-in-Law got arrested?

Somehow, Sean Hannity and Greta Van Sustern left this out. Now with that said, do you really think Bobby Jindal has a chance? He's not black, however he is a lot "darker" than Obama? Will they change the title to Jindal the magic Engine..ooops Indian?

This is why the RNC are labled hate-mongers, lost the Hispanic vote and will not attract any African-Americans. Honestly, I think they are ok with that.

double standard   December 26th, 2008 3:55 pm ET

Have any of you heard the song? You should not comment until you have. Also have you seen the vile on the previous blog? But i guess calling Palin a "redneck" is not at all offensive though? It is always a double standard when it comes to liberals

AnaB   December 26th, 2008 3:55 pm ET

Ok not only racist, but can you say immature?

Mel of Alexandria, Virginia   December 26th, 2008 3:54 pm ET

It is not just what is said, but from whom it comes. When there has been a relationship of trust and good will that which seems controversial can be a joke as it relates to that which those who are outside of that relationship can neither fully understand nor treat in a positive manner. When it comes from right wing bigots and racists who may still have their white hoods hanging in the closet it is a whole different matter.

But why is CNN airing the action of one who might well be the "grand wizard dragon" whose motive is clearly to divide instead of trying to unite.

Woodrow   December 26th, 2008 3:54 pm ET

I found it quite funny. In case you haven't listened to it, which obviously none of you have, it is making fun of white guilt.

You people need to get the stick out of your arse and lighten up.

You Democrats and Republicans all make me sick. Neiither of your party's are right.

benjamin   December 26th, 2008 3:53 pm ET

This makes me very sick to my stomach. While the rest of us are trying to forge new political directions based on the dire needs of our people, fools like these are sitting on their piles of cash, with nothing better to do than make offensive, off-color jokes about the directions America is headed, which none of them could fathom in their greed and self-serving policy making. People like this dillude the effectiveness of the Republican Party, in this tumultuous time for them they need to pull together for America, not for themselves. It is absolutely disgusting. Shame and pity on them.

Rich   December 26th, 2008 3:50 pm ET

You know he's saying "I don't know why 'those people' are so offended by this."

Pretty stupid, but as that has been the GOP m.o. for the last eight years why should anyone expect anything less.

Does the GOP have any smart people left or is this the best they got?

SMR   December 26th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

There goes his chance to land the RNC chair seat. Just another CREEP that need to go. JERK!!!

al in memphis   December 26th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

This comes from a person who wants to lead the RNC. This will stay around a very long time.
It's sad to think that someone thought others would find this funny and appealing. I wonder if this will get as much time as Rev Wright did on Fox News.

(Former) Lifelong Republican for Obama, Columbia, TN   December 26th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

This is exactly why I am no longer a Republican and why the GOP will never secure the respect they once had. This is so sad!

Rae   December 26th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

Unbelievable.

Cam, Atlanta   December 26th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

Hmm,

I wonder if Clarence Thomas and Michael Steele received a copy?

Last time I checked, Obama has White blood running through his veins as well.

However I guess the RNC figured it would be much funnier to exclude the part that is like them and heckle the "Black" part. because to the RNC to be Black is funny and White is not.

Tom in CA   December 26th, 2008 3:46 pm ET

Chip — you've just confirmed that you're a joke! The RNC is a joke!

Go home RNC bigots!

ay_lamb   December 26th, 2008 3:46 pm ET

outrageous republicansatzgrupen continue to display their true character and why you might ask? Because they no in this current American sociological climate we have reverted to a time when intolerance isn't just en vogue it actually makes you poplular.

davinder   December 26th, 2008 3:46 pm ET

If RNC members understand that humor, then they are racists. Pretty simple really. I guess this guy is just stating a fact. The problem is, apparently, he sees nothing wrong with it.

Rich   December 26th, 2008 3:46 pm ET

I truly wish I could say I'm shocked by this but I'm not…at all! Just when I didn't think they could sink lower…..

shirley   December 26th, 2008 3:45 pm ET

I do not shock that easily, but i gasped when I read this article. That is about as ignorant, and bigoted as I have ever seen. Satire my foot.
I can only speak for myself but, I voied for Obama because he was obviously the smartest candidate with the best ideas, and obviously does his homework. If I were a Republican, I would crawl into a hole and never admit that I had been stupid enough to vote for Bush, Mc Cain,Pain, Cheney and Rove.. Feel guilty… my foot! I am also not surprised that it would first be heard on Rush Limbaugh show.
McCain and silly Palin were no comparison. WE GOT OBAMA AND BIDEN. Thank you God.

BB   December 26th, 2008 3:45 pm ET

Sophomoric activities of the repubicans.

Dieter Zerressen, Denver, CO   December 26th, 2008 3:44 pm ET

Why is this such a mystery that the basis of the Republican Party are the racists, separatists, white supremacists, KKK, under educated, single wide trailer livin' white trash? That is their constituency. Throw in some greedy Wall Streeters and tax cutting loving over-paid CEO's and there you have it – 33% of the population.

BB   December 26th, 2008 3:44 pm ET

Sophomorish activities of the repubicans.

Philadelphian trapped in Texas   December 26th, 2008 3:44 pm ET

Wouldn't touch this piece of ethnic humor with a 10 foot polack.

Minnesota   December 26th, 2008 3:43 pm ET

Always from a Republican. The party of hate and fear and bigotry.

Just once wouldn't it be nice to see that the GOP could tolerate more than just these racist bad jokes and groups of former KKK members and the like.

Tolerance is an amazing quality unless its selectively applied. Like, only tolerating hate groups and racist organizations.

Sandra, Atlanta   December 26th, 2008 3:43 pm ET

If you think this is political satire, then this guy is one sick individual! Another reason I don't think I will vote for a republican again in my lifetime. I guess my sense of humor is lacking for this guy and Rush Limbaugh's 'political satire'.

Sharon, Minnesota   December 26th, 2008 3:42 pm ET

Oh them silly republicans, they are so funny.

Big Kal   December 26th, 2008 3:42 pm ET

And you wonder why the election was lost. Satire or not it's these type of things that keep minorities and women from wanting to join your party.
It's going to take some magic from this "Negroe" to undo the 8 years of damage brought on by "Ali Baba" and his 40 thieves oh I mean George Bush. Keep your party and your song and just remember this – the minority has become the majority in this country. The RNC has some serious soul searching to do if they are going get back there swagger. What happened to the GOP the party of Lincoln? The big tent they talked about in past conventions? The tents seem more like white hoods on all of you so called elitist and socialites. You ignorant fools have hijacked a once reliable and trusted brand and turned it into a den of thieves.

Bill in JAX   December 26th, 2008 3:41 pm ET

If the Republican Party and its inept leadership would dedicate more attention to bringing this country together, and cease its incessant fostering of racial and religious divisiveness, then perhaps this country can survive perhaps the single worst presidency in our history.

Sharon from Dumfries Virginia   December 26th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Satire my butt, that is not funny or okay.

May   December 26th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

This is just sad.
Seriously.

heartlight3   December 26th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

They do stupid stuff like that and then they wonder why they lose elections. The may think derogatory songs about democrats are a joke, but it is not funny. Humor that degrades another person is sick, not funny.

What on Gods Green Earth!?   December 26th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

has become of the GOP ? (once beloved , now run by?…….animals)

This is disgusting

Shedric   December 26th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

"A candidate for the RNC chair". Does he represent the qualities that the RNC wants to promote to the public?

Cheryl from MN   December 26th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

And it doesn't surprise me that a racist like Rush Limbaugh would play such a tune on his radio show.

Doug   December 26th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

it looks like the RNC is going to get uglier and even more irrelevant before they get their 'stuff' together. it might be a long wait. we deserve better discourse.

marc   December 26th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

Who are these buffoons?

Cheryl from MN   December 26th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

If Americans keep voting for idiots such as Chip Saltsman, nothing is going to change in Washington or for our country. We do not need people like this in Government.

Ryan Wing   December 26th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

I'm stunned. Could this sort of mentality be why the conservatives are out of their majority? They need to get their act together.

Glen In Los Angeles   December 26th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

Isn't this the same song Limbaugh was playing on his show? Is that really the direction the Republican party wants to lead our nation?
The right is certainly getting very silly.

Linda32   December 26th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

Wow, its nice to see what someone who wants to head the RNC thinks of our new President. That's the kind of leadership that the RNC is looking for?

Ambrose Smith, Borrego Springs, California   December 26th, 2008 3:36 pm ET

Boy! Those Republicans are a LAUGH RIOT!!

My sides are hurting from all of the laughter!

(Zzzzzzz snore)

Lesley   December 26th, 2008 3:35 pm ET

This is ridiculous and shameful behavior. The title We Hate the USA is Republican truth disguised as humor and is precisely the reason they lost not only the WH but a lot of congressional seats. Sad business this is. So much for their trying to re-invent the party.

xavier   December 26th, 2008 3:33 pm ET

Intended as a joke? What's a joke is the RNC thinking that most Americans wont see this for the blatant racism that it is. What's not funny is how the GOP always speaks about christian ideals, but cant seem to keep themselves from judging others for the color of their skin.

Adu   December 26th, 2008 3:33 pm ET

he is from Tennesse; says it all

Kaye -Jacksonville FL   December 26th, 2008 3:32 pm ET

Disgusting…has the RNC and everyone attached to it completely lost their minds?? I guess so – the very fact that this first surfaced through big-fat-stupid Rush should have been a tip off… "oh, it was just political satire" – yeah, right….go tell it to someone that's in lobotomy recovery.

David Goldman   December 26th, 2008 3:32 pm ET

THE RNC CONTINUES TO HOLD UNTO THEIR HOODS !!!!

NEL E BELL   December 26th, 2008 3:32 pm ET

YA KNOW I DIDN'T VOTE FOR OBAMA THIS TIME OUT, BUT THAT COULD CHANGE. WE ARE WITNESSING THE DEATH SPIRAL OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND YA KNOW, THAT KINDA MAKES ME HAPPY AND SAD. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS BECOME A BUTTON ISSUE CROWD THEY HATE ANY AND EVERYONE THAT IS NOT LIKE THEM OF THE IMAGE THEY HAVE CREATED FOR THEM SELVES SO THEREFORE EVEN LINCOLN I BELIEVE WOULD HAVE DUMPED THE ELEPHANT and gone back to the Bull Moose Party.

Disgusted ex-rebuplican   December 26th, 2008 3:32 pm ET

This is sickening. The GOP continues to remind me why I left their party behind. They are nothing but a bunch of fear-mongering bigots. Proudly independant from here on out.

RACISTS!!!

SC   December 26th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Don't just sit & whine about it. RNC candidate, I think you should have competed against Obama in the election, which I think he would have whipped your LOSER'S BUTT sore anyway.

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia in CA   December 26th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

RNC=RACIST NUTS COMMITTEE

A big reason why this country is so divided. A bunch of crazy, racist clowns that have too much power and too much stolen money and we let them get away with it every year.

Diogu   December 26th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Tennessee is fast becoming the most racist state in the United Sates, How sad.

Gasman   December 26th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Saltzman and the RNC just don't get it. This is vintage Tennessee racism, period. As Colin Powell and the few remaining decent Republicans lament, America has moved away from the GOP and its racist past in every aspect of life, including humor and so-called "satire". The GOP is dead forever, and Saltzman, Hannity, Limbaugh, and Ingraham are dead men walking. God bless America and Barack Obama.

earle,florida   December 26th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

This my fellow americans is beyond the"Pale" !

Dave   December 26th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

Hopefully, the nation will leave the RNC in the dust as the rest of us thinking and caring people move on and make this nation great again. It's not surprising that this trash was played by Limbaugh. Please boycott advertisers supporting the Limbaugh program and website!

CaliforniaVoter   December 26th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

What idiots republicans are… enough said.

Ex-Republican   December 26th, 2008 3:28 pm ET

Absolutely disgusting. But then again, we all knew that the Republicans were nothing but elected KKK members acting on behalf of the hate mongers and bigoted degenerates of this nation!

The absolute garbage that has come to dominate the landscape of the Republican Party will be it's own undoing. I can not wait to see these hate filled racists find themselves out dated, out sourced, and out of a job!

Norom   December 26th, 2008 3:28 pm ET

Richard Rohde is a complete moron

Heather   December 26th, 2008 3:27 pm ET

I'd like to compare Arianna Huffington's reaction to this incident to when blogger Jane Hamsher digitally altered a picture of Joe Lieberman to have him in "blackface" during his 2006 re-election campaign.

Larry from RI   December 26th, 2008 3:27 pm ET

While it is true that most people recognize political satire it is also true that most recognize thinly veiled or outright racism, but what would one expect from the former chair of the Tennessee Republican Party and
"friend" of Bill Frist and MIke Huckabee?

The "values" party never ceases to amaze us with its utter lack of them now does it?

Eric from California   December 26th, 2008 3:27 pm ET

Just when I thought they couldn't get any dumber, they go and do something like this…and become even dumber.

brian   December 26th, 2008 3:26 pm ET

Waiting eagerly to see which, if any Republicans denouce this blatantly racist move.

A race to the bottom   December 26th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

How ironic can it get when a jew sends this type of slanderous material?Just proves they like someone else to be scapegoated and not themselves.

curtis in WI   December 26th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

I'm so glad the Republicans are heeding everyone's advice to stop being a party of bigots and, oh, wait…..

Ray from CA   December 26th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

Republicans are being stupid

Susan   December 26th, 2008 3:24 pm ET

The Republican Party sickens me. They talk about how they need to reach out beyond their base to minorities and young people, and then pull this sort of crap.

No wonder people are abandoning these ignorant dinosaurs in droves. Idiots!

Caroline   December 26th, 2008 3:23 pm ET

Oh my goodness…

Christopher   December 26th, 2008 3:23 pm ET

WOW it's amazing what some people will do and think that people will accept it as ok. We will be watching to see the the RNC CHAIR candidate, will actually become the chair for the RNC. If this is the kind of negativity they tend to hold onto, certainly the RNC's days are numbered

Jeanine   December 26th, 2008 3:22 pm ET

Repubs–still haven't learned anything.

CNN = Jerry Springer of News   December 26th, 2008 3:22 pm ET

The RNC just does not learn. The people of the United States are sick of this style of campaigning. Again, Republicans are trying to label Democrats as anti-American by calling this CD demonizing Democrats, "We Hate the USA." If this candidate to become the RNC Chairman wins with this kind of campaigning it will prove the RNC is not ready to move forward and are stuck in the past.

Republicakkkan Party   December 26th, 2008 3:22 pm ET

Once again the RNC is showing it's true colors when it comes to people of color. While you're at it why don't you pick Dave Duke to run the RNC Party.

GiroGeezer, Calif.   December 26th, 2008 3:22 pm ET

Please tell me your kidding…
Let me guess, it is sung by the RNC Tabernacle Choir?

Polar Bears Against Palen   December 26th, 2008 3:21 pm ET

Typical, run-of-the-mill Republican racist scumbags.

mb   December 26th, 2008 3:21 pm ET

Some republicans really need some serious mental health help.
These some give the GOP a bad name. What Saltsman is saying that the GOP does not want diversity in the party.

SC   December 26th, 2008 3:21 pm ET

Is that all LAME REPUBLICANS can do? Shame on you! Life goes on. It really does. So, learn to live with the fallout of your SUCKNESS! Sorry!

jane in Columbus,ks   December 26th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

A thinking person would have thought that they might have learned from this past election that racism needs to be gone from the American conversation but NO… it is still alive and kicking in repukicansville and they wonder why they are held in such low regard by millions of Americans? Bah humbug to all of you who find this amusing or in the Christmas spirit!!

Lyndon from CA   December 26th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

come on now CNN is a post like this REALLY newsworthy? It's not going to change anything.

Jim Hall   December 26th, 2008 3:19 pm ET

The republican party should be ashamed of itself. Talk about being racist and a bunch of biggots. When will these village idiots wake up?????????????Jim Hall Kansas City, Missouri.

ATL reader   December 26th, 2008 3:19 pm ET

Haters, someone should tell these idiots the election is over….. Could it be that they are jump starting for 2012 or just a lil slow in the head ?ummmmm million dollar question

Michael Dunn   December 26th, 2008 3:19 pm ET

yeah it's okay to be a racist pig, just say you're joking… This is exactly the reason we needed the Republicans out of office…That group sickens me!

What is wrong with these people???

THE RNC NOW MEANS REALLY NOTHING CREDITABLE.
