RNC chair candidate sends out controversial Obama song

(CNN) - A candidate for Republican National Committee chairman said Friday it was clear the content of a CD he sent committee members for Christmas - that included lyrics from a song called “Barack the Magic Negro” - was intended as a joke.

“I think most people recognize political satire when they see it,” Chip Saltsman told CNN. “I think RNC members understand that.” Saltsman, a former chair of the Tennessee Republican Party, was a top advisor to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, and managed former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign.

The song, set to the tune of “Puff the Magic Dragon,” was first played on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show in 2007. Its title was drawn from a Los Angeles Times column that suggested Obama appealed to those who feel guilty about the nation’s history of mistreatment of African-Americans. Saltsman said the song, penned by long-time friend Paul Shanklin, should be easily recognized as satire directed at the Times.

The parody CD sent to RNC members this Christmas, first reported by The Hill Friday, is titled “We Hate the USA”, and includes songs referencing former presidential John Edwards and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, among other targets.

This makes it that much more funny when conservatives whine about how mean and unfair it is that us liberals paint them as ignorant racists.

Surprise, jerks, you really are ignorant racists.

This charming bit of news does not surprise me one bit. After the fight for integration in the 50's and 60's Southern Democrats fled to the Republican Party in droves. This makes me ashamed to be white.
Rush and his friends in the RNC are the worst kind of scum.

And to "What on God's Green Earth?" No, they are not animals. Animals never behave so badly. Only humans can be so cruel and stupid.

I can't believe this. I've never cared for Chip Saltsman- my vote for RNC chair has always been to Michael Steele. And I always liked Huckabee but never for Chip. As a conservative and a member of the Republican party, I am ashamed of Mr. Saltsman. He does not represent us.

Amazing – the Republicans have yet to realize that they are on course to be the Party of the past. And they think we are dumb enough to accept their lame explanations, instead of admitting that they were wrong. Nothing has changed...

This is why gay, Black, Hispanic, and Arab Republicans amuse and confound me. It's like being a Jewish Nazi, it just doesn't make any kind of sense. You know the political group you're a part of has nothing but hate and loathing for you, why do you hang out with them?

To think that our President Elect is reaching out to both Republicans and Independents to unite the nation and this is the hand biting he gets from the Republican Party. Even when our nation is in peril with a faltering economy this Republican Party can think only of being hateful and divisive. It doesn't say much about how they care for this country.

I am a Democrat and we fought a really tough race against the Republican Party for this past election. I think that now that the race is over, it is time for us to all work together to rebuild and save our nation.

The Republican Party needs to put some adults in charge of it's party so we can all work together. This is a sad day.

For all the guilt-ridden, self-hating, oh so righteous white liberals who just HAVE to be on the "right side of history," with all the warm fuzzy feelings that come with it, BO really is the Magic Negro. Word.

And here's a shout out to Dieter in Denver, who, like many of the aforementioned white libs, thinks he's being "anti-racist" when he says "white trash." Racism is out, but hating whites is always in. What a piece of work you are.

"The parody CD sent to RNC members this Christmas, first reported by The Hill Friday, is titled 'We Hate the USA.'"

Finally, the RNC is being honest about their motivations.

You've GOT to be kidding me!!! I believe this is the same song that Rush Limbaugh played sometime this year on his program. It is totally disrespectful and uncalled for. For anyone to call themselves a Republican and support idiotic behavior like this is beyond the beliefs of the majority of this country. The Republicans continue to amaze me at the points that they will stoop to to get "support." The sad thing is that it seems to be the quacks that are supporting them.

Maybe Rush Limbaugh is really a closet Democrat. He is helping the Dems more than just about anyone else. Keep it up, Rush! Your old hate formula is working just great!!!

No wonder the Republican Party convention was so conspicuously and starkly white.....a sea of Caucasian faces cheering Palin's hate and lack of substance.

How sad, but I'm not the least bit surprised. Remember this America in 2010. It's time the RNC was given their own country. We will call it "ALASKA".
