Clifford, what is a typical minority? Since Obama is bi-racial, do you mean the black half or the white half? Aside from the heat and no fans this island vacation time is a home land security problem. Our economy is so fragile that any our new President needs to vacation some where else. Or at least be on a Military base which he is within 3 miles of as of today.
Bush did this same thing of staying at his home in Texas and avoiding the White House because his wife didn't like Washington. Then September 11th came and he hustled his back side to the White House.

Has anyone else noticed that, since the election, all those who do not support Obama seem to have migrated from Fox News to CNN? I guess they figured they were just 'preaching to the choir' over there, and weren't able to get a rise out of anyone. So, they've moved here and spew their hate with the sole intent of offending others. It's been entertaining.
Is this a huge news story, not really – was it a 12 hour logistical nightmare for security – probably.

Wow, people chill. This was was a big deal here and the only news reports are concerned with Obama. 900,000 people were without power, traffic was scarily snarled for hours, the water pumps were down, and the food supply was in danger. Oahu is an island with few options – this was a power failure that could have been solved in minutes in any other state connected to a grid. Where are the mentions of energy independence and alternative technologies? Frankly it's a good thing Obama was here to experience the utter fragility of our energy infrastructure. I'm sure he will be thinking more about energy policy.

The Obamas were the least inconvenienced........the luxury resorts and condos have back up generators so they were just fine.
